10 PS1 Games that are Hidden Gems
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 май 2024
- Today I thought we’d do something a little different, I was going through my PS1 games and realized I like a lot of games that most people I talk to have never heard of, so I decided to make a video entirely dedicated to PS1 hidden gems, or at least games that I really recommend based on my experience. So with that and in no particular order, here are 10 PS1 Hidden Gems that I recommend to you.

I always considerd "Jade Cocoon" as a hidden gem. One on the most atmospheric und melancholic RPG's I ever played. The Soundtrack is outstanding.
I haven't heard that game in along time...thank you
seriously though, straight masterpiece!
Wow yeah I loved that game. I used to play songs over intros to games, and there's a song... I think it was a Lit song that fit perfectly over the intro lol. I would try to time them to make it look like the song was the real track playing during the intro lol what a dork I was xD (and still am)
Some other really good games worth checking out:
- Elemental Gearbolt (on rails gun shooter)
- Rollcage Stage 2 (arcade racer)
- Future Cop LAPD (action)
- In Cold Blood (suspense, espionage, action)
- Project Overkill (action, very violent)
- Colony Wars Red Sun (arcade space sim)
- Vagrant Story (action RPG; no exactly hidden but it's a MASTERPIECE)
Awesome list. Project Overkill is definitely overlooked! I never see anyone bring it up, but the gameplay is super satisfying (and super difficult).
@@GreyMatterShades It's a great game! Fun, brutally difficult and still very cheap. There was a Genesis game called Skeleton Crew. Never played it, but they seem very similar.
I like the list especially LAPD and colony wars but vagrant story can go to hell
Few years ago i payed 50€ for my new version of Future Cop, only because the PSN version was only in French and English.
@@23GreyFox It's a good game that has been slowly gaining value, like Omega Boost. Luckily I got them both for roughly $24 each, CIB.
Koudelka. In the same vein that Parasite Eve was the lovechild of Resident Evil and Final Fantasy, this is the offspring of RE and Fire Emblem. The combat is turned based on a tactics board, the non-boss battles are random encounters, there is a leveling up system, and there is a very strong horror/creepy mansion element to the environment. I actually found it to be a lot more frightening and unsettling than Parasite Eve, another game that I adore.
It's also considered the prequel to the Shadow Hearts series. 💕
Just played through it 3 times! It was great!
@@adampindell Right? It's a hidden gem. And the sequels (Shadow Hearts) are pretty good too. I do recommend.
Here's a few more that may not be all that hidden, but tend to get overlooked: Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Blazing Dragons, Discworld, Driver 2, Umjammer Lammy, Incredible Crisis, Omega Boost, Threads of Fate, Tail Concerto, and Moon (jp only, recently fan translated).
Hah! High 5 on incredible crisis! 🫸🫷🫸🫷😎
Huge points for shouting out Blood Omen. The gameplay is pretty clunky and it wasn't all that technically impressive, but the story, soundtrack, and atmosphere were incredible. It's definitely a game I'd love to see get a modern remake/reimagining, as long as they still captured those strong elements.
Glad to see someone else remembers the Blazing Dragons game!!!
PS1/PS2 era is probably my fav era of gaming, would recommend some other titles such as alundra, soul Reaver, Dino crisis, 40 winks, primal, shinobi, bubble bobble beyond good and evil, croc, heart of darkness, fear 2, driver, road rash, crazy taxi, beyond good and evil, worms 3d, wipeout.
The hidden gems I played for the PS1 were the syphon filter trilogy, tenchu stealth assassins, and Blasto.
The first and second syphon filter games were great had interesting characters and a decent story.
Tenchu stealth assassins, may have been overshadowed by the Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell games, but without it I wouldn’t have found a taste for the martial arts sub-genre.
Blasto, played it when I was 4 and couldn’t get past the first levels and completely forgot about it. Until 5 years ago when it popped in my head. Also the titular character Blasto was voiced by the late Phil Hartman who you might know better as The Simpsons character Troy McClure.
Didn't splinter cell come out on PS2?
@@Crazyoldman84 yes but you get the idea
Jesus, seeing games I played A LOT as a kid like Fighting Force, Die Hard Trilogy (which is quite hard actually) and Vigilante 8 made me smile and go down the memory lane, to simpler times, when all I had to care about was good grades, having fun and drinking soda with my friends.
One of my personal favorites was Twisted Metal: Small Brawl. It was like Twisted Metal, but with RC cars. Awesomeness.
Einhander is easily the most unknown hidden gem I've ever owned in my life (technically I was my dad's game, but it was for the family). It's the only sidescrolling shoot 'em up that Square's ever done (heck, the only shooter Square's ever done PERIOD outside of Dirge of Cerberus, I believe), and MAN was it a classic! Easily one of my favorite PS1 games we had when I was growing up! I got so hyped finding out about the Einhander boss in World of Final Fantasy the Einhander Easter Egg in Kingdom Hearts III!
I still have Einhander and it aged pretty well. But I know a game that's even weirder than a side scrolling shooter by Square. Omega Boost. A space mech shooter made by Polyphony Digital... more famous for... freaking Gran Turismo. Of all the games Polyphony Digitals have made, 90% are Gran turismo games and the rest are still racing game except for Omega Boost.
@@chamoo232 Omega Boost is one of the best Mecha Games on PSX Along With Armored Core Series.
@@user-bb6mt9bi4n Omega Boost can be a little bit disorienting sometimes when things go really crazy but it's hard to believe the game came out in the same era where games often had really terrible tank controls like Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Dino Crisis. Then you have Omega boost with smooth spins and twists in 360 space even upside down.
You should do a part 2 on this because there's so much more PS1 games that need more love. Here's 10 that I recommend talking about:
- Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman
- Brave Fencer Musashi
- Tomba 2
- Legend of Legaia
- Punky Skunk
- Nightmare Creatures
- Dragon Seeds
- Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time
- Threads of Fate
- Tail Concerto
I second Tomba 2 and suggest Tomba. I've only seen Tomba one in person once and it was very expensive; £125.00 GBP.
I really like Suikoden 1 & 2, most people never heard of them. They actually have a remaster coming out soon! Solid PS1 game!
Suikoden 2 is still my fav game of all time after all these years , I’m so glad when people knew it’s existence 🎉
When's the remaster coming?
@@thegamingprozone1941 sometime this year, nothing official yet. I have been checking weekly though. Such great games!
I really liked this one it's kinda like Breath of Fire 2 with all the secrets and base building.
Had a blast playing both.
Jersey Devil is amazing, also it has a PC version that looks a bit better but with the music trarcks changed and without the cartoon cinematics. One of my favorites together with Rayman 2 of that style and time.
this is officially my favorite video you have published. i have a complete copy of LSD: Dream Emulator. i also have stuff like Kodelka and the Clock Tower series. also do you remember INTERACTIVE? the demo disc was like red and black on the cover? ahhhh the PS1 will always be my favorite system!
That interactive demo disc was how I discovered tomb raider, resident evil, jersey devil, and tekken as a wee child
Tomba was my undderated gem. Only played the demo but great fun. Also saga Frontier with its soundtrack and painted art style graphics
One of my favorite hidden gems is Spider the Video Game. You played a bio-engineered spider with a knife for a leg and completed levels in a 3D side scroller type of world where you'd have fight other bugs like spiders, slugs, bats, etc. while avoiding things like fire and water. You could even find upgrades for your spider like a boomerang, flamethrower and missiles.
Heart of Darkness is one of my faved treasured memories, C-12 Final Resistance was a gritty third person action shooter with scary aliens and brilliant sound design and atmosphere, and World's Scariest Police chases I remember having some wild driving mechanics and weather effects at the time (when I was like 7).
I know the prior two are more known but still HoD is much less recognized than I'd expect though and truly deserves a remaster or remake. C-12 no one I know has heard of haha
I’ve played Vigilante 8 (love the extra moves you can do with the weapons, such as the mortar weapon being able to flip enemies over and also make fantastic craters in the ground, even multiple times over to dig a hole). The environmental hazards like being struck by planes in the airfield or waves in the dam are awesome - a great game!
Die Hard Trilogy I haven’t played since back then but it was fun.
Fighting Force I have nowadays and it’s quite fun, despite having clunky controls as you mentioned. Definitely worth it for beat ‘em up fans though!
Such a warm and cozy video, love these videos about old games
Soul of the samurai is the only samurai game that looks identical to resident evil. Highly recommended
Wow that looks amazing 😮 thank you
@@liminal_head it is amazing! I enjoy playing it
I had the demo as a kid and it's was Hella fun. I really wish I would have searched for it after its full release
This game is awesome
I never really see people talk about Spider: The Video Game. You play as, well, a spider and you can upgrade your legs with different weapons. I was obsessed with that game as a kid. And a lot of the PS1 JRPGs would probably count but Koudelka stands out. It is not a perfect game, but the story and characters are pretty great and it's a direct prequel to Shadow Hearts on the PS2 so I still love it.
Holy cow! I completely forgot about that game.
Yes! Loving this top 10, I personally feel strongest about Policenauts. You can really tell Kojima wore his influences on his sleeve, making numerous references to western culture, pulling Meryl into the MGS universe and basically making the main character and his best pal mirror the duo on Lethal Weapon. Very underrated considering this man's bulk of titles after it
He destroyed the series. Remember? What took you so long? *Hideo kojima voice
I blew him up with a rpg several times on his escape in the jeep. It was glorious.
It's Blade runner. 0 original about it.
Played 4 of these previously and really enjoyed them. This is a great list!
Great video my duuuude! Pls more hidden gem videos this list was so unique from all the ones ive seen
Great video. Nice to hear someone champion Bloody Roar 2 and Fighting Force. Love those games. And Galerians too. I loved that game and the sequel too. Always wanted to play Jersey Devil. Nice to see it.
Great list. I never heard of Missouri Falls until your video!
Personally, the whole Syphon Filter trilogy is a gem. Not many know of its existence but to me these are my favorite retro games, especially the 2nd. Loved the Bloody Roar 2 entry too.
They are all playable on ps plus.
Chase the express is a decent PS1 hidden gem IMO. It's basically Metal Gear Solid on a train, but with classic Resident Evil controls and fixed camera angles (I think? It's been decades since I played it)
Yes! Do more hidden gem videos. These videos typically do well on RUclips
This video was a trip to memory Lane. Living in Brazil in early 2000's we had access to a bunch of uknown games, unfortunately, via piracy. My local newstand used to sell these very 'alternative' ps1 titles games that they downloaded using Limeare, Kazaa or Emule. For many years I've never seen anyone talking about Jersey Devil or Fighting Force! Those are incredible Hidden Gems! Great Video, Kai! I think you can go on and make a PS2 hidden gems video as well!
What's so unfortunate about that? If it wasn't for piracy you wouldn't be able to know and play those.
Same, PS1 back then as a kid were expensive, modchips were very abundant during that time, now it's far more easier to play the PS1 classics we missed due to region locking and pricey games so it's more enjoyable now lol
I got two hidden gems I like to tell people about, first is Dangergirl for the PS1 and second is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.
Both have a certain charm about them and are extremely fun.
Seconded for Rhapsody! That game has charm to spare, and we are finally getting the 2 previously Japan only sequels.
@@fancywaffles Nice! I got it for both DS & PS1.
Dangergirl however is my prized gaming possession. My wife arranged for the guy created the Dangergirl comic book, J Scott Campbell, to autograph the disc for me for our 25th anniversary a few years back.
@Slapnuts McGurk I have the DS version too, but I haven't actually played it yet. I read that the music was changed? And I'll have to look up Dangergirl, it sounds like it's got 90s comics vibes and I am down for that.
@@fancywaffles I heard that too about the music but I haven't played my DS copy yet either😂 I keep meaning to but I'm lazy.
But yeah Dangergirl is steeped in that 90's comic style, it's kind of an early James Bond meets Charlie's Angels vibe. It's got PS1 era Tomb Raider tank controls and get a bit cheesy at times but I've been a DG fan since the comic first came out so that's all good by me. Plus it's not to pricey yet.
Danger girl??? Really? 😆 sorry I hated that game, still have the comics though. J Scott Campbell has become quite the in demand artist these days.
Those ps1 game disc's with demos on them were called jam packs. I still have quite a few I think. The one with Hercules, jurassic park and 2 extreme stick out the most. Good memories.
Alone in the Dark looked good but the gameplay wasn't really there. It got pretty frustrating and back in the day the solution wasn't as simple as picking up your phone. A lot of younger viewers won't remember the frustration of trading in a game because you got stuck.
Koudelka is my favourite PS1 game that most people skipped over. A surprisingly adult Survival Horror/RPG 4 disks, loads of cutscenes. Eventually morphed into Shadowhearts but this was the best for our niche.
Hm. Alone in the dark wasn't that difficult for me, for some reason. Now resident evil zero I've restarted twice and still don't have the health to beat that friggin bat, that game I'm so stuck in but aitd wasn't so bad, I figured it out. Different folks I guess haha, everyone I know says they've beaten zero and I'm like I guess I suck lol.
@@kamenanew9867 oh, I love zero. Just pointed my shotgun up and let him have a clip. Stand near the alter or or other place you can see the ceiling well and shoot as soon as he closes. If you have no ammo left sorry can't help.
@@Whalewraith yeah Billy and Rebecca are both near death and I'm near outta ammo, on both attempts so far, and i havent been able to care enough to try again yet lol
Real solid list that's full of titles I've recommended to others over the years as well. Other hidden gems that people should play are; Apocalypse starring Bruce Willis, Devil Dice, Ghost In The Shell (you'd be surprised how many people aren't aware or sleep on this), Gekido Urban Fighters, Granstream Saga, and TRAG Mission of Mercy to name a few.
Thank you for this video! This brought me way back and reminded me of how freaking awesome my childhood was with my PS1. I had all but three entries on this list. Fighting Force probably being my fav on the list. But my all time favorite PS1 game was NFL Blitz.
The Deception series (especially 2) is both long running and pretty unique, definetly worth looking into
Carnage Heart is a truly hardcore mech sim (so hard you don't even pilot the mechs, you program them)
Future Cop LAPD is the spiritual sucessor to the Strike series of helicopter games but with a transforming mech instead
I’m shocked you haven’t played that alone in the dark. Some puzzles are taken straight out of resident evil and are pretty much identical. Very great game.
Another one I really love that not a lot of people mention and maybe it’s a bad game I just am fond of - but Overblood is a great game almost nobody knows. Very good game with a great story.
Armored core, syphon filter, silent bomber and a few others. But I loved how you blasted me back to my childhood man, fighting force 1 and 2, jersey devil, vigilante 8. I love your videos, they always give me a nostalgia trip. Thank you for that!!!
I loved Bloody roar, the best character for me was the mole. Unfortunately the game is really high priced and I try to find it for a decent price for years 😅. If there is one game i highly recommend that most people never played is treasures of the deep. There is even almost no contant about that game on RUclips. It may be nostalgia but for me its highly underrated.
I recently played bloody roar on the GameCube and it was a lot of fun to play, was not aware of the previous PS1 game though
I still play both blood roar games on the ps classic , still good blast
Great video. I just went to my local used game store and found a copy of Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. It came in an old Blockbuster case. Looking forward to giving it a play.
Policenaughts is such a classic game. Kojima at his finest.
This list is awesome 😎
Btw have u played Deep Freeze
Great Video Kai. As a PlayStation fan I would Love to see more PlayStation themed videos. Have a great April.
I second the Alone in the Dark and Fear Effect. Both of which have subsequent games. Also will add horror games Echo Night and Overblood. Tho I didn't finish the latter. Echo Night had an excellent story.
An underrated/unheard of game I really liked (ps2 I think) "killer 7". A on rails shooter with really unique game mechanic & story, u played an assassin with 7 multiple personalities...each with unique weapons & skills. I haven't played it in forever but I remember loving how different & cool it was
My pick - The unholy war. Its a turn based strategy/tactics board game style thing, but when you bump into the other guys pieces you actually go into like an arena fighter. Each piece has different costs, strengths and theres a paper rock scissor thing with the units themselves.
Its dope check it out.
Like the list. And on that note, Vigilante 8 was one of my favorite games. Beeswax was one of my favorite characters on that game.
I was expecting Parasite Eve in here, but I think that series is in a point that is both quite niche but also it's like a very mainstream title, which is sad because we're some fans and people always like to talk about it, but never sold so much, especially with modern Squenix expecting mediocre titles to sell in the millions, I doubt they would like to revive PE, especially since the third entry was not everyone's cup of tea
Parasite Eve wasn’t hidden though. 😂
I'm glad I've told you about the old alone in the dark games, fear effect. But I'm also surprised you mentioned Jersey Devil I still have that game, it's awesome but very janky. With my PS1 collection at the time it was dominated with tons of resident evil style games and furry platformers.
I wanna recommend you try out Blasto, Kingsley's Adventure (sort of like starfox adventures before that game was even made), Klonoa, Punky Skunk, Jumping Flash, Parasite Eve, Chaos Break, Koudelka and the first dynasty warriors game.
Hello Ink Ribbon! Really are some epic choices here. Alone in the Dark was an excellent Resident Evil type game, and the torch mechanic was fantastic. Your top two choices are both excellent games that I've been lucky enough to play, and I think Mizzurna Falls is a true classic. An open world, Twin Peaks inspired game, years ahead of its time. If I could recommend a game myself then it's In Cold Blood, a fantasy spy thriller with gorgeous graphics and an engrossing story.
Loads of hours spent playing Vigilante 8 and it's sequel. Much love 💕
Greetings Kai my fellow Ohioan!! I was just thinking about Fighting Force this morning and here I see it on your list!! Love your content man
with the exception of Missouri Falls, PoliceNauts, and Galerian, I played these back in the day. These are truly classic hidden gems.
Some PS1 hidden gems I also don't see many people talk about are:
Alundra 2 (a Zelda-esque game for non-Nintendo owners)
TaiFu: Wrath of the Tiger (like tekken force mode from Tekken3 and spyro had a baby)
Future Cop: LAPD (the coop is crazy good)
Threads of Fate (Squaresoft ARPG game before the likes of Kingdom Hearts)
Soul of the Samurai (before Omnimusha, there was this Samurai battling some supernatural forces)
....Mizzurna Falls
There's a big resurgence in the Armored Core franchise, but the series mostly flew under the radar during its time.
Loved the Bloody Roar series, played 1-3. Wish it would come back, but I think Hudson Soft isn't what it used to be.
What a seriously wonderful collection of games! I have played most of them but some are definitely catching my interest!
My dude Kai is here to show off fear effect and Jersey devil. 2 games I loved when I was younger and Fear effect 1 and 2 are the first PS1 games I completed
Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare is a great game. It gives me more scared than some RE games. The flashlight use in puzzles is a great addition. I truly recommend to you to fully play the game
I remember seeing fear effect on cybernet and being blown away by it. Gonna try it on my S23
You making me feel old now 😅😅 used to record the episodes on VHS because it aired so late at night, I'm assuming you remember BITs also with the 3 girls? 😂
I used to play DHT with my dad haha. We could never do the car one but the other 2 were fun, remember funny cheats like guys floating through he celling when killed, and plants screaming when shot.
2 games I used to love playing where Future Cop LAPD, and Beast wars from the tv show.
And there's one game I played with my cousin but I have no idea what it is called, I just remember you were in a house and had to set traps - it was not home alone!
Nice list! I know there is an alone in the dark remake for PS5 if I'm not mistaken, I would also recommend playing viglante 8 on dreamcast far better graphics and was the version i played when I got the dreamcast, it's an underrated gem which I do remember, I'm going to check the others out for sure! Alone in the dark was also released for dreamcast so just a heads up!
Other mentions I would like to recommend is tomba 1&2 and incredible crisis which I think was popular in PAL regions but it's worth seeking out due to its wacky gameplay and crazy mini games 😂😂
Alone in the Dark on Ps1 was a BIGGGGGG DEALLL and a cult classic in that era. If you had that game you were the king of the sleepovers. We would all huddle around the TV and watch lol
I remember playing Syphon Filter, Jackie Chan stunt master, Armaggedon, Dino Crisis, Chess master, Croc and Scooby Doo.!
Yes, Galerians! ☺️
I recently played it and I loved it. Is quite outdated and boss fights can be really frustrating but I love it’s messed up style and story. It also has an interesting gameplay mechanic I’ve never seen before.
Racing Lagoon.
A racing RPG made by Square for the PS1.
Was recently translated. Very cool game.
Dude!!!!! I completely forgot about Die Hard Trilogy! I friggin' loved those games man! Was so cool that all 3 were completely different games gameplay-wise, with each game really suiting it's respective film as well.
Overblood 2 was ambitious
Koudelka, Baroque for the dark gothic
Martian Gothic Unification for RE/Bio lovers
Chocobo racing for CTR lovers
Aquanote, Kaze no Notam, Toro and Friends for the chill
UFO, Moon RPG for love de lic enthusiast and also chillrpg
Valkyrie Elysium and Mars Story (kasei monogatari) for more JRPG
Soumatou/Kagerou to combo peasants with traps
Echo Nights and Kings Quest for fromsoft lovers
My personal favorite is Linda Cube: a great mix of shocking, sad, and sweet. Also known to some as like a predecessor of pokemon style gameplay (game devs are not associated with Nintendo though)
There were a lot of good titles that are buried in times and best to support the archives of it.
I cannot thank you enough for shedding light on Mizzurna Falls.
The timing couldn't be more perfect as myself and my woman have been watching "Twin Peaks" and the stories seem very similar so it's incredible to play a game very, very similar in themes.
"OverBlood" is another RE inspired Survivor Horror game - and was a really interesting take on the setting (in space I believe) - it was good enough for a sequel as well, but I dont think I played that one. I was so high on RE1/2 during the 90s - that this game really was great to pickup at the time. Recommend trying it, same inventory, tank controls, etc
I'm gonna play that soon thx 😊
This reminds me! Vampire hunter D is also a great gem on PS1 too 😊😊
I love that you made a video on this topic, because I probably trust your opinion more than any other RUclipsr!
Demolition racer is one of my favorite ps1 games that I hardly hear anyone talk about. Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue is probably my favorite beat em up style type game, and something i like to go back to to relax
I let out the biggest gasp when you said Jersey Devil!! My mum had it on a demo disc when I was little and I was obsessed.
I remember this one game called iq or icube and it was a puzzle game but had some sense of horror in it. Plus, that digimon fighting game
Thanks for the reminder of Fear Effect. Going to look for a playthrough.
Alone in the Dark TNN looks stunning! Love those backgrounds
I remember playing a lot of those especially the die hard trilogy. I would add Wild 9, Gex, and brave fencer musashi tho.
I dont know if you mentioned before in different video, but Chase The Express was great PS1 game. Resident Evil meets Syphon Filter.
I love Galerians and Fear Effect! I’d love them both to get remade
I loved Fighting Force, such a fun game to play with multiplayers.
Vigilante 8 and 2nd offensive were great, but even better was Rogue Trip Vacation. Which made gave the gameplay more whackier feel.
Really awesome video Kai, took me back in time there for a bit. Forgot about a lot of these games. Thought I might see Nightmare Creatures on here considering you love you horror games. You should really check that one out if you haven't already 👍
Love the Nightmare Creatures series!!
Jade Cocoon, Bloody Roar, Syphon Filter, Die Hard trilogy, Auto Destruct, Apocalypse (starring Bruce Willis)... If you'd ask me... Nostalgia hits hard XD. Actually, BR has 4 main entries (1, 2, 3, 4, obviously) + a bonus one on NGC (called Primal Fury or Extreme).
man i remember playing fighting force as an arcade machine back then at the community center at the airforce community center in italy. fun times.
I can say Mr.Domino and Incredible Crisis was pretty good as well! Definitely not widely known but very fun to pick up and play!
Pretty Good List!
An Honorable Mention In My Opinion Is Koudelka. Its Like Resident Evil But If It Had A Turn-Based Combat System.
Tenchu Stealth Assassins, Tenchu 2, Virus: It Is Aware, And Clock Tower Deserve A Bit Of A Mention As Well 👍
Seconding Koudelka. The combat system is straight out of JRPG territory but rather weird and wonky which serves to make the game even more macabre. It was followed up by Shadow Hearts on the PS2 but with the twist that it follows from the ending you get from getting wrecked by the final boss. Koudelka and Shadow Hearts also went for a dark alternate history setting with actual historical figures seen in game or referenced although their backstories in game have been... altered a bit to better suit the plot.
EDIT: Also I'll add the Siren games on PS2. They were overshadowed by the Silent Hill series and RE4 but had some unique game mechanics. It also did not help that Siren 1 was deliberately designed to be obtuse and tough to figure out, the game's director wanting people to collaborate online to solve the game, as while the game is possible to get through without a guide it is frustrating especially if you didn't have the manual.
@@ladyabaxa
Yeah For The PS2:
Forbidden Siren, Haunting Ground, Rule Of Rose, Constantine, Obsure, Cold Fear, And Kuon HAVE To Be On That List.
Siren Was Such A Underrated Game. The Sight Jack Mechanic Was Very Interesting.
A Remake Of Those Games Would Cause Mass Nightmares 😬
I Remember The Booklet Alone Still Terrifies Me To This Day!😖
Akuji the Heartless is dope. Especially the soundtrack
Bloody Roar 2 is such a nostalgia trip for me, glad to see it getting some love.
I remember renting that Die Hard game over the weekend when I was a kid. What a weird and wild game. Great list!
Used to play Crisis Beat, with is a Fighting Force alike, and love it so much.
Alone in the Dark TNN & Galatians are ones I’ve always liked as well. These are some others I liked that not many know about or played, I’d say check them out Kai if you can:
PS1:
Overblood
Overblood 2 (had a English release in EU only)
Koudelka
Countdown Vampires
Vampire Hunter D
Tobal 2 (JP import only)
Future Cop LAPD
Steel Reign
Treasures of the Deep
Yeah I just mentioned overblood. I didn’t even know it got a sequel. I loved that game.
Shout out to the Koudelka mention. I'd also recommend Shadow Hearts for the PS2.
Blast Chamber and Choro Q3 were among my favorite games on the PS1.
I have been trying to remember Fear Effect’s title for like ten years. Thank you!
I love Jersey Devil! One of my favorite games of all time. Really wish we had gotten a sequel.
Wow this is the first time I've ever heard of Mizzurna Falls. Very cool concept that I wouldn't have expected to see as early as the PS1 era.
Fighting force and fear effect were 2 favorites of mine growing up
You should make a video on the Sega Saturn version of resident evil. It’s my personal favorite of the 32 bit versions.
Never thought of Fear Effect as a hidden gem. Remember it being promoted well and always thought it was a favourite for its time. Plus must have sold decent enough having gotten a sequel.
One of my favourite “hidden gems” though is Devil Dice. Very fun, very addictive puzzle game I think a lot of people missed out on.
Yeah a quarter of these games aren't reslly hidden gems. Maybe forgotten because the games are old but they were hot in their heyday.
YES!!! Fear Effect is one of my all time favorite games on the PS1.
Yay you added Mizzurna Falls! 💙
I had to chuckle about Fear Effect being on this list. I was in high school when that game came out, it was definitely not a hidden gem. It was a very hyped game, it may not have done well but that wasn’t because it was hidden.
Surprisingly there were a few games I had forgotten about on this list; The Die Hard games, Bloody Roar 2, and Vigilante 8(which was a lot of fun.)
There are a few I think deserved to be on this list that weren’t but I’ll mention one and another game that kind of was a hidden gem but not fully. So the actual hidden gem I am mentioning is Legend of Lagaia, it was a very innovative and regressing take on the JRPG genre that genuinely deserves more attention. And the hidden but not hidden is Xenogears. I say hidden but not hidden because it didn’t make a big splash when it came out but it has a kind of cult following to this day, but it’s not completely a hidden gem because the Xenoblade Saga series was actually spun off from the game but they are very different kinds of games where Xenogears was a Mecha based JRPG.
My brother and I played Fighting Force all the time when we were kids. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I was expecting Kagero: Deception II on this list. I freaking love that game. Good list but I only know Vigilante 8, I guess I didn't really play that much PS1 games after all.
