I love how honest you're being about the frustrations and setbacks of a renovation. I decided to renovate my bedroom three months ago- new folding desk, new bookshelves, coat of paint on the walls etc. Three months later half my stuff is still in piles on the floor because it turns out it's very hard to renovate a small room while also living in it.

I can tell you as someone who's been in the cabinetmaking industry successfully for over a decade that it is far simpler for us to do your kitchen than for you to do it. We already have all the jigs you'd ever need, the pre-planned sizes, countertop template knowledge, appliance knowledge etc. Unless you really really want to do it, paying someone like my colleagues and I is fully worth it even when what we quote seems shocking at first. Cabinetmakers aren't rich, we just work for the rich!

It's also good to take into account what one would make with their job compared to the same time that they would spend to finish an entire renovation project as a beginner (minus the money spent to get the stuff!). My stepdad always says he's going to build this or that so we won't have to pay for a contractor, but he makes way more in an hour of working than he would save in an hour of woodworking.

Leaving same comment here that I did on an earlier video on this series: I own a cabinetry and furniture business. Great videos! Mainly, I wanted to say THANK YOU for not trying to make the kitchen/cabinetry process out to be super-easy and quick, like so many other DIY videos out there. It’s so cool when hosts ask us viewers what we want to see. I’d like to see your kitchen be finished. Lol, bless y’all.
One last wrap up vid would be cool.

I really appreciate that you are showing us all the delays and roadblocks in your kitchen renos and I would like to see individual project videos more than a big wrap-up for sure. Also how have you guys been going about without a functional kitchen for five months?

Individual projects would be awesome. The cabinets video was great and I enjoy learning about single projects at a time. I’m going to be building my own cabinets after I finish building out a workshop. I realized it’s going to be a lot of work but I did find the video inspiring. Keep up the great videos. Thanks

Both! Individual project videos are great to follow along with to learn how things are done. The wrap up videos are awesome to see the bigger picture as things progress, and to see how everything fits together in the space. Plus, doing both means more content and more revenue for you lol.

I would definitely be interested in seeing a bunch of individual projects.

Great video! Every DIY'er should watch this. This is real life DIY and honestly, it makes me feel so much better to know that I am not the only one that encounters so many bumps in the road:) Great looking kitchen!!

Idk about anyone else, but I LOVE individual project videos AND seeing how they all come together! Keep it up, loving the pops of color in an otherwise white kitchen! 🙌

Individual projects would be my choice, pretty please.
Thank you for making this video. I hope it gets a ton of views. As a contractor, I hear a lot of customers refer to TV shows and remodeling programs that make it seem like it's done in a half hour. Right away they give me a squirly look when I mention weeks. I will def refer them to this video so they can see for themselves.
Btw, great job on the cabinets! Love the use of the toe kick! Typically unused space turned storage. Awesome!

Smeg, great choice, their thermoseal tech is awesome with its ability to not circulate smells within the oven thereby making it possible to cook and bake in the same oven at the same time without transferring any flavor. 95% of Dishwashers and washing machines and 70% of most ovens are 600mm wide, larger ovens are generally 900mm wide (usually have rotisserie capabilities). These sizes are pretty much industry standards to make kitchen design easier and for ease of replacement without drastic remodel. The only difficult items to size are fridges or bespoke appliances and sinks.

I run a countertop shop. we're VERY busy for us small custom shop. template can be done within days of cabinets being ready and install 2-3 weeks later. we are FAST, and people are complaining they have to wait so long. good to see someone pointing out how long things really take. hopefully some customers will gain some perspective after watching this

Individual projects with a lot of detail are always good to see, but a final wrap-up with before-and-after and some "if I had to do it again" commentary is also good to have.

Individual project videos wrapped into one nice big timeline playlist like Modustrial Designer has been doing with his big abandoned building renovation vids. He got started right as COVID was ramping up and it's been one delay after another for him so sometimes it's a video unrelated to the last one as filler, or just no video at all as schedule had to go right out the window sometimes. Also individual projects are just easier to search.

Individual project videos. I'd love to see an entire playlist of 'just' your kitchen remodel when it's finished so by the time yours is finished, I'll be finished with mine and I can go over and take a look at "What it would have been like if I decided to make my own cabinets instead of buying premade". Since I have to wait...4 months for Home Depot cabinets, I'd assume this is basically the same concept lmao.
    Kitchen looks fantastic!

My fiance and I feel a lot of what you've gone through with your kitchen. We are building a house and have been delayed 3-ish weeks because our builder couldn't get interior doors and base+case. Crazy times. Your kitchen is looking amazing so far. That range looks like a dream. It's huge! I personally like multiple project videos, but whatever works for you guys is always great. Keep up the good work and good luck with the delays!

Super interesting. I really like that you don't make it look pain-free, unlike most reno shows.
You might want to put a temporary countertop over that island until you get the real thing, so no one gets hurt on the brackets that are poking out. Also that would give you a bit of extra workspace, and it would stop the dirt and dust from getting inside the top drawers.
