Every ac should come with a quick connect pin for the fan so you can remove the lid without hanging the fan motor wiring off the edge

Mr.Taddy thats a great closing line !
Watching you fir a few years now ,appreciate all your content for us in the field .. Thanx ...
I really want to be a service technician and these videos have helped me understand better
Excellent news i'm glad you like to videos
The water is just fine! Please get in the field, start on install team and work your way up, imho, did me just fine & hope it does you well. Great pay for critical thinking 😅
@@borshardsd I’ve been on install for 6 years
@@borshardsd but yes I agree definitely start on installing and work the way up I do service calls sometimes I just get nervous especially when someone is watching me but I’m trying to get better
@kaylalee20201 well I bet you run circles around me! Cheers to your pursuit of field tech 🍻
Edit: Oh heck yeah, I hear ya. I believe in you!
How about a one up to a helicopter homeowner: 2 months ago, some guy started filming me as I tuned up his boiler.
I didn't know what to do tbh. Lol, I wonder what Taddy would say.
I don’t know but sometimes you think they would design a product with the service people in mind.
Facts
Sometimes they do... and when I find it in the field, I have to take a moment, salute and smile.
Lol i definitely agree with your sentiment.
That wasn't bad at all if you look at it from an auto mechanic point of view, lol. Those are the guys that really hate engineers!
If only it were that simple 😂
Yeah, saying that’s hard to service tells me you haven’t worked on any jap car 1990s and newer
It is best to cut the old drier out. When you remove by un brazing the connection, you heat up all the moisture that drier has removed and release it back into the system. Not best of practices. Just some advice take it or leave it but, I did want to offer it to you. Thank you brother. Keep on keeping on.
Would heat to the ends of the filter dryer while on brazing cause the beads inside to get hot enough to release the moisture? I feel like there would not be enough time/heat to get the filter dryer itself hot only the ends . Also, the system was already open to atmosphere, and filled with plenty of moisture via the leak found. A proper evacuation will take out moisture.
Perfection is the killer of progress.
Whoever installed that needs to be out of business. They didn’t even test for pressure loss.
I'm glad the leak was outside. Working in that crawl space didn't look like fun.
I appreciate all the info you put in these videos for techs like me that are trying to get better
You're welcome my friend i'm glad to be here to help
Nice job👍. I hate FDs on the inside of the unit ; for me all FDs get installed on the outside (extra 10 /15 minutes because I hate inside FDs so bad).
Great job as always tad thanks for the info and the video
Good explanation of thought process for diagnosing and repairing! Thanks.👍
Great video man, keep up the good work, patience is the key
Most definitely!
@TaddyDigest taking out the leaves and going above and beyond will definitely put a good google review also about you. I believe excellent customer service will make you live when owning a business!
Even tho you worked very hard people don’t always see it ✅ lifeee ..
Great job as always brother
Why nitrogen and not something like CO2 or just compressed air?
The system is going to be vacuumed out anyways.
Great video, hopefully you have something on those mini splits.
You’re a great teacher!
I appreciate that!
Another great video brother
Great video....good clear descriptions. I had very little prior knowledge but understood everything. Thanks!
you're welcome Glad you watched and enjoyed 😉 😀
Very informative, keep the videos coming. God bless you!
Well explained!
Thank you very much for this heat pump video troubleshooting
Glad to help
Great video 👍
You're quite the teacher. Thx.
Thank you! 😃
Just confirming dunno if you brought it up in this I didn’t see it but you should mention to remove the shrader valves to have the system open so the pressure doesn’t build up ruining your brazes. Aswell as running very low nitrogen flow through your system while brazing to ensure oxidation doesn’t occur
Teddy, excellent video very well presented information.
Please please wear eye protection. I had solder splashed on my face and it stuck to my safety glasses.
About time I see someone else braze with what I braze with. The only difference is, I use the small MC tank.
Small MC tanks are where it’s at! Beats lugging the B tank around especially in attics and roofs
@@SkilledLabor I know. Right? The absolute best way to do residential brazing.
@@AaronPowellvox the ONLY way haha
Liked the video, very informative. Question, why didn't you braze with nitrogen flow?
Thank you Mr Ted you are the best you explain very clear man
You are very welcome
Great video
Good explanation
Thanks for liking
@@TaddyDigest You’re welcome
How come you charge the refrigerant through the liquid line? I was always taught to add through the suction line? Is this because it’s in heat pump mode?
Or have I been taught wrong?
Appreciate the videos!
thank you for you videos
You're welcome my brother
Solid !!
Good Lord homeowner, clean that thing once in a while lol
Hey im wondering if you were checking charge in heat mode why didnt you connect to the true suction and switch blue hose to vapor side?
I don't know if you noticed but you melted a lot of those wires removing that filter dryer
there were pine needles that were in between the wires, and they caught fire
wires are good 👍
Never un sweat a drier...it drives the moisture back into the system. Best practice is to cut out the old drier. Service tech since 1973. Instructor for level 2,3 and 4 for local Apprenticeship program.
Wouldn’t a deep vacuum get the moisture out?
Good job 👍
Thanks 👍
Its always the unit at fault. NOT the overcharge that the utility company explains as a delivery charge.
Perfect 👍
While conducting a pressure leak test, could you shut the service valves to see if the leak is on the outside unit or the inside unit. If pressure continued to drop the leak would be on the inside unit. Good video. Thank You...
Yes absolutely
Isolating is a good thing to do to figure out where the equipment is leaking.
Dont you love how much dirt and leaves accumulate under the accumulators
Great video. I'm confused, with your power discon. off, where is the 24vac across your Pressure switch contacts coming from?
from indoor Airhandler
How do I clean the acoil in the inside unit? I see many products that call for water. If I do that water will run all over the fan and the strip heating elements. I don't want to do that. What other options do I have????
You may want to check the test pressure of the indoor component, it may be lower than 350 psig and it is seeing the nitrogen pressure.
Great advice larry thank you for putting this in the comments
So, does the "Emergency" heat engage automatically? The thermostat for my Trane package unit has to be manually switched to "Emergency heat" for the heat strips to function. At least, I hope that is the case. Great work on the videos!
no
you have to manually engage it
Great video! I have a question. When you was troubleshooting the outside unit. Why were you testing common and yellow when outside unit wasnt working for heat? Shouldnt u be checking common and white for heat?
Good question!
The heat pump gets a call to the y terminal
Not the w terminal.
@TaddyDigest ok thank you!
How do you find the Smans? I have them as well but I find they are almost too sensitive sometimes for pressure testing. I find 0.0Pdif very difficult to achieve on a long pressure test. I often end up with -0.2 or there abouts. And I find with temp probs connected and calibrated it is even more inconsistent. Sometimes raising or lowering on tight systems after being givin lots of time for equalization
I was with one of my technicians this day and was using his gages. I actually don't use digital gages.
He does though
Just curious as to why you didn’t move it outside of the condenser in front of the liquid line port? To make it easier in the future to replace
I thought about that after and I really wish I would've done that.
Inside the condenser, the fan will help components cool off and resist rusting because of the airflow. Has more protection from the elements, impact damage, theft. Possibly deter homeowner from what appears to be an easy DIY repair attempt.
Any factory alteration/modification especially from an unlicensed HVAC tech is risky for voided warranties, insurance claim denials or code violations. Best to leave things alone.
My disconnect was rusted all the way through and had evidence of a lightning strike. It was totally exposed to the elements. The tech was totally amazed that it hadn't caught fire yet. Replaced fan, disconnect box, and wires. ✌
You have such beautiful eyes. Never noticed how they almost glow in the dark. I hope a nice lady gets lost in them.
Question? Isn’t it when you have an open switch you’re supposed to read 24 volts, and when the switch is closed it’s supposed to be 0.
that's correct
@@TaddyDigest thank you sir. Your videos are awesome. I’m 37 and I start an apprenticeship in two weeks. I’ll be going through some of your videos to freshen up from school.
Since original installation the homeowner was paying for resistance heating? And in the summer no cooling was taking place?
that's correct
I didn't hear you say why their electric bill was $600. Especially since the unit wasn't even running.
they were using the electric strips instead of the heat pump
That isn't braze that is stay brite or soft solder I keep arguing with these slugs online and telling them that crap will leak but hacks keep using it.
Most leaks are at the valves
How much would you charge to identify the leak along with everything you did in the video. Pricing in my area seems all over the place. Thank you!
This call the leak check the fix everything.
Was around six hundred dollars
@@TaddyDigestappreciate you getting back to me! Replaced my own water heater when that broke down to save me money but HVAC I rather not mess with. Your videos are very informative. Keep up the good work!
Don't forget to remove the schrader valve as well
Yes sir
What are your thoughts on flowing nitrogen when brazing
I think it's great
16:25 lol whoops
Wow! 👍👍
🤗
2:17 - What took out the thermostat?
I think it was a short in the low voltage wires
What type of leak detector do you recommend?
I use inficon
that tells me it didn't pass the pressure test or get properly vacuumed down when it was installed, wouldn't be possible with a leak that big
Yep that's right
Is that a Goodman? LoL
My x has a heat pump what a joke very high electric bill it's a new house
You did not run nitrogen at 2-4psi when brazing !!! That’s not correct . You Have to run nitrogen otherwise you get carbon build up inside of the line set into the txv plugging up and contaminating the refrigerant .
that is correct, good practice brother
Another sad case of a bad installation. See it all the time
you burnt up those wires not prepping properly
That was actually a pine needle that was in between the wires.
Maybe think about wearing gloves, when cleaning the bottom of an AC….
I was trying to see if I could get a spider to bite me.
fail on soooo many levels.
Even with a perfectly working HVAC system your power bill is going to high. Thank Biden.
I didn't know biden owned the power grid last time I checked they were private companies. Not government owned 😅
CNN says our energy prices are down because of biden. Get a clue.
😂
