it is not just involving kids in the homestead. it is about responsibility and duties to each other. also, it has been proven that people that are around ordinary farm items (chickens, goats, cows, outdoor plants, etc) are healthier and get less allergies. awesome video.
Ha;ha! I've been picking rocks out of a small garden bed with my 5yr old grabdaughter!I got 5 chickens a yr ago. It's been a wonderful experience with her. She's learning so much, I call her "the chicken whisperer" I think learning to be kind to animals translates to being kind to people, important in a child's development.
Thanks for the tips, Brianna. Not always easy to make things fun for the children but to see your purpose-driven approach is truly inspiring. Blessings.
You are teaching your children some great values. Work hard, earn money, live a good life. I love watching them do their chores, each is so capable. xx
I was raised on a ranch, loved every minute of it. Always regretted that we were not in the position to raise our kids on a farm until they were a bit older. Now we have an established farm and someday down the road we will get to have our grand kids here. I commend you for including your kids in EVERYTHING you do.
My son is 11, he picks up dog poop, feeds chickens, cleans their coop and gathers eggs... as well as laundry! He's learning to cook this summer - fantastic job with those beautiful babies ❤️
You have found the secret to get kids involved in doing work on the homestead... You as an adult parent have to get involved with them. Children need to be encouraged. You guys are doing a great job ! Keep up the good work !
Thank you for showing that kiddos can actually work! Our kids have had chores since they were old enough to do what we asked them to do. Daddy says "we ain't raisin' pets" :) Kids are part of our family, therefore they get to help out with family chores and taking care of the animals. Teaches kids that they won't always get a free ride in life. Somethings are worth working for. Plus, future employers will appreciate it when they hire our kids and they already have a good work ethic. WAY TO GO ART AND BRI! :)
I think it's great that you're including your kids and teaching them to work. You can definitely get a lot more done when they're working with you. Great job!
You and Art are wonderful in the way you have the children always part of the action (chores-fun things and all). My wife and I enjoy all of your videos, but especially those that involve the children.
Bri, you and Art are awesome parents teaching and raising your kids the way God intended them to be raised. Rewards are awesome when EARNED unlike some kids who want the reward without the work to earn it. So thank you for teaching them the life skills they'll need once they get older and have families of their own. 😊 HIGH FIVE✋✋👍🙏
My son is 18 and works a full time job with a good company. When he was a young spry he would help me in the gardens. I used to pay him a penny for each rock he would get out of the garden beds lol. He would save it up and go yardsaling with him grandma on the weekend. Those were some of the best times we spent together, he would even say.. " mama you don't have to really pay me" but I always did because it a good thing for a young child to know the feeling of getting paid for a job done.
My kids are 36 and 41 i miss those days so much when we had our farm the kids worked so much and it a as fun as i see your family having my son seemed to always crack at least one egg but couldn't understand why lol my daughter raised meat birds to sale and the job they hated the most was yard patrol cleanup in the spring they still joke about it sometimes The have turned out to be great responsible adults your kids are well on their way too GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY and never forget to put HIM first
It is so nice see our children outside and working in the sun. I live in a city and these children spend more time on their computers and smart phones and hardly ever outside. Your doing and awesome job. Love your videos please keep them coming
I agree, a parent's number one goal is to raise their children to be self-sufficient and capable adults. Chores are a must and when it comes to starting them the earlier the better. I remember having a 1/2 acre garden as a teenager and my bro and I kept it up and used a rototiller and wheelbarrowed in piles of manure and made sure the sprinklers worked. We planted every veggie and fruit we could think of. The one thing we didn't do is let the chickens go in there and prepare it during seasons. Wish I knew then what I've learned from all of you youtubers using permaculture techniques. To this day I love to plant gardens and I'm thinking of getting some chickens. Was the family chicken keeper as well and so I know how to take care of them from hatchlings to the dinner table. If it wasn't for my childhood experiences I wouldn't have the foggiest on all the stuff I am planing on doing now. A child's education shouldn't be regulated to the classroom and sometimes the best teacher is nature herself. Thank you for these vids of your family life. It fills our hearts with joy and that in itself helps make things better for everyone.
You are great parents and your children will thank you when they grow up for teaching them so many excellent skills. My 5 kids complained and whined some days but they did the work on the farm and learned many skills that have gone with them out into the workforce. They have all thanked me many times for the things they learned and for the work ethic they learned. When I was a kid there was nothing more satisfying than to look back over a field and see how much I had changed it by hoeing the weeds or planting or moving rocks ect. It is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. You have great kids!
I LOVE seeing how hard working your children are and how involved they are. You're doing an amazing job raising them. I am a nanny and give my nanny kids many responsibilities, but their parents not so much! Keep up the great work!
When my children were young I would mix Orange Tang and homemade yogurt then make "creamsicles" for them (and the neighbor children too). Orange juice popsicles were another favorite.
Such love showing through in this video. It is easy to be a mom when the kiddos all agree with what you are doing or want them to do but a good mommy plows through the grumbles in a loving way to teach those life lessons anyway. And that is what you did. Those kids learned so much during this process. And spent time with mom and grandma outside in the fresh air. Keep up the good work!
You are living the life I've been dreaming of for so long...just found you recently and I'm really enjoying watching 😊 Thank you for sharing your life!
i am getting to know your kids and i always laugh at Joyfull's facial expressions, such an imagination with just a hint of drama queen. lol The other three are so smiley and happy!
Rhonna Marsden they have such bright eyes ! Like their mom n dad :) and oh goodness the innocence in their minds .. seeing and exploring such a special lifestyle is bound for big funny excited scared confused faces !!!! So much new stuff to learn all they have to do is walk outside and they have a school in their backyard ! But I love the innocence and love that they have and their creative outlets with the animals and their bravery to jump right in and help out.. is just true testimony to the benefits of homesteading it's good for all around and involved ! Such a good quality of life , they are blessed ' !
Love all the way from the uk. Working on getting my little homestead as,well. Loved the video. And That's the life I want to live. Nature outdoors animals, growing my own produce.... love it!
Areas that my father disc'd when I was 5 (I'm 36 this year) STILL bring up huge rocks..they never stop. It's like laundry. If more parents involved their children in actual work I think the country would be quite different right now. My daughter is 7, she gets to be a kid. She also has serious chores. She takes care of 20 rabbits, 60 head of poultry, and can feed and water the sheep, goats, pigs, and dogs if her father and I are out of commission, such as being sick. She's homeschooled and besides chores and the few hours of school work, she's free to be a child. We are also in 4H, are starting to show our rabbits and goats this year... Does she cry sometimes? Yep. Does she have a fit sometimes? Yep. But she also is growing and learning and she's becoming a better person because of it.
such A BEAUTIFUL LIFE FOR YOUR CHILDREN, INSTEAD OF BEING COOPED UP IN A CLASSROOM. Sorry for all caps. I didn't notice it on until I finished comment. LOL
Beautiful shots of your gorgeous farm! Your children are so super well behaved and extremely helpful. You and Art are surely excellent parents. And I know from experience that the creeks in your area are super cold. A quick dip in a mountain creek is all I can take until its hot hot July weather. But you certainly have a beautiful creek. Water is the most amazing thing on a farm. You are blessed to have such a clear, clean, fully flowing, and beautiful creek. Journey On!
Our oldest two kids are 5 and 7. People are always amazed at what they can do! When my most recent babe was born (#4) it was such a blessing to be able to have them go let the chickens out and feed them in the mornings without any help!
Love to see yalls progress...stay encouraged, yall are one of the few doing it right...we too are homeschooling homesteaders and i wouldnt have it any other way
2:30 am, i've got insomnia and here i am going thru your archives trying to play catch up and i see you just uploaded. so good morning, thank you and have a great week.
New subscriber here. I love your videos. You are such a great mom and are raising such awesome kids that will turn into such wonderful adults. More people need to raise their kids the way you do.
I'm glad you call your chickens "people." I bet you didn't even realize you did it... I do it too!! ;) Thanks for showing your kids' involvement. I think the sense of responsibility you're teaching is so important!!
Wonderful family! I do like your parenting and how lucky your children are! I appreciate your theme of education,. "How to live and learning by doing". Have you watched the Texas boys they are very inspiring their parents have given one of the boys Rufus tools and lumber and lots of encouragement and he has built some really cool stuff way beyond what you might expect for a nine year old to do without help
Your land is so pretty. Can't wait to see when it is maximum green. I mostly love how the kids get invoved, thanks for making it a topic. What I discovered with growing food and "livestock" (I grow bugs) is that it invoves so much math... and it's the super useful daily math that can serve as schooling. It's easier to learn when it applies to yur daily life. I hope you will keep us updated on Grace's big plans.

Good morning what a valuable lesson you are teaching your children. I grew up on a homestead we had daily chores, it taught us self responsibility.

I enjoy my kids too THANKS FOR SHARING
It is good for children to learn real responsibilities. Too many of the kids today don't even understand real life work, weather you like it or not.
Justice is awesome at whistling!! Ya'll should make a sound bite of him showcasing his whistling talent and add as an intro for a video! ❤
Great idea! He would love that.
i think it is aewsome to give them responsibilities and actually enjoy them too and learn....God Bless all of you always.
WONDERFUL!!!
and this is why i love homeschooling! and love seeing grandma there helping out too. making memories while working.

chores are such a great thing for children at a young age. no a days suburbia children don't have that and their mentality tends to be a whole lot different.
Really you are nice family .. may god bless you
