We read to our kids every night, but also through the day. Boynton's were also favorites. My oldest is a paramedic and he once had a accident call with a mother and child. The mother was going to the hospital and the child was rightly very upset. He had the Dr. Seuss ABC clutched in his hand. The mother, although not badly hurt, was upset because her child was calling for her. My son said why don't we read your book, you turn the pages. So while monitoring the mother he 'read' from memory the whole book. It calmed the child down, which calmed the mom down and everyone was happy.
Oh my kids used to LOVE that book! Awesome memories your making for them. Interesting information on the sunflowers! "Another example of how amazing the nature world is and how much you can get done if you work in harmony with it works." Excellent quote!
I taught my 4 girls(grown now) to read write and count at 3 years old and all but 1 loved reading and devoured books all Summer...Wow yall's kids are growing so fast!!
For me and my 4 there was never a gift more important to give them than the love of reading. We read to them every day and every night when they were little. They saw us loving books. They all remember getting their first library card and how proud they were of it. Every one of them tested years ahead in school on reading and comprehension and I'm so glad now that they're grown that they all still love to read. Seeing my oldest son read to my first grandson is a blessing beyond compare. As my grandfather once said to me...."I'll never get to go to Paris but I can sure read about it and that's just about as good!". One of our family favorites was "Is Your Mama a Llama" by Deborah Guarino. All these years later and I can pretty much recite it from memory. Somewhere packed in a box is a copy of it with my oldest daughters teething marks in it.
Yes! We have a sweet 1/5th of an acre in a small town in Western WI. Our kids love it when we set the tent up fir a fort in the yard! Love your channel!
Yummy Brianna that looks marvelous. I love salmon patties. My kids loved playing in a tent when they were little. We didn't have a tent so I just used chairs and threw sheets over them. They loved it.
I grew up in Watsonville ca (where most produce comes from and also salinas right next to it, lettuce, strawberrys, so much stuff) anyways along all the fields then he farmers always planted sunflowers or corn, I didn't know that about sunflowers! I think the corn was planted to keep dust off the strawberries (that's what I was told growing up) my grandparents lived on the hill that smuckers strawberries were planted on I used to get to practice driving up it sitting on my moms lap lol
Just found your blog. And I'm loving it. These are the best video's ever. Love the fun you both have with your children. And totally love your videos about the Chickens. That is what brought me here, looking for a video on Dust Boxes for chickens. Watched yours and loved it, and then to your next video. They are so interesting and enjoying them all. Thank you for the time you took to make this video.
We always enjoy watching your vids... thanks for sharing. Bri's hard work in the kitchen looks soooo good!!! Looks like a great camping adventure.... nice idea!!!
Great idea with the tent! There's just something about camping out in a tent, even in your own yard, that is so fun! We've set up the tent many times in our side yard and camped out. Great memories! There's even a Great American Backyard Campout in June, I think. Beautiful eggs! Supper looks delicious, too. Love me some salmon patties! :)
If you have a pressure cooker, or an InstantPot, you can cook the frozen chicken in 1 hour! I have brought my pressure cooker back into the kitchen (from the basement!) since the InstantPot craze started. Love it.
We love salmon patty hamburgers, that cucumber salad looked delicious too! btw, the book art read to the boys reminded me of Go Dog Go! I love their fort out in the garden. we always wanted to sleep outside in the tent in summer that takes me back. ❤️
What a wonderful family you have. I enjoy your videos so much! What an inspiring way of living. I've recently used your method of freezing corn and will be making your bees wax candles for gifts this holiday season. Thank you for the informative tips!
I laughed out loud when you chopped the sunflower with the knife! :) We've put a tent out for our kids like this too and they absolutely love it. Great idea!
That was an awesome meal you made Bri did you use fresh dill on the cucumber salad. Art you may have mixed corn with red silk on that one corn stalk. Maybe come out to be red and yellow kernels or white and yellow kernels when you peal the corn husks and then the corn husks can be used to make tamale to wrap them in. Just an idea. The corn stalks can be dried after the corn is picked to make a scare crow for Halloween. Or used as a fence for a patio to keep the sun out. Or old fashioned fishing poles.
I am a new subscriber and I just want to say thank you for sharing your life and your wonderful family! You are living the life I always wanted to live. I enjoy your videos so much!
dear Art and Bri, I really enjoy your Videos! I live across the world and my life is quite different from yours in many aspects, but your message and family and garden inspire me. But today I noticed something. You talked about what one can achive when working hand in hand with nature. And although you meant it locally, I think we should also understand it globally. Why are you using disposable plates? that is not hand in hand with nature. And although I see (and find it wonderful) how much you grow and cut out unnecessary plastic that way, I was just wondering about the plates. I am sorry for rambling, English is not my first language. Lots of love from Germany! Anna
Love your little farm. Ill be looking fore my own little place sometime next year . Love north North Carolina, been there a bunch of times, summer and winter. Im a over the road truck driver . Single , no animals or kids. Looking fore a creak with tones of trees.
Your videos are spectacular. You're made for this. I enjoy a few family vlogs, but yours by far are the most beautiful and creative. If you ever start to feel burned out with the vlogging, I hope you cut back on the videos, maintaining their quality. I sense you would :-)
Lovely camera work on the corn stalk views :) I saw on pinterest garden that left room for teepee fort for kids with bean vines climbing it - just put up the poles in teepee shape and plant around it. - ps: might be time for saddles for a few of your hens?..they looking a bit too roughed up?
I don't know why but it seems like you are using new cameras or something. The clarity of your footage is amazing. I wasn't sure if you had new equipment or if it was because I have new internet service. Either way I like it! Great Video!
I have the same questions about the ducklings and the fencing. 1. do they go in the chicken tractor at night now with all the fowl? 2. did you just have the fence off for the day or are you still electrifying it? Love your videos as always! :-)
I noticed that the feathers on the backs of some of your hens were gone or damaged and there skin was bleeding. Have you considered using hen saddles or aprons? I follow The Chicken Chick and she uses them because her hens are over mated. Just a suggestion. Love your videos!! Love your family!! I live on the other side of the mountain from you in Old Fort. Have you ever been there? It's a tiny town 😁
Hello, really enjoyed this video. But are you saying sun flower seeds have heavy metals? The meal looks good , my kind of food DAD and I eat salmon patties quite often . Thanks and have an awesome day.

Wonderful family video. Kids sure love tents..........of any kind.....sheets draped over chairs, big refrigerator boxes.........Kids love tents.

By the way, great you went to the freezer. Bri mentioned she don't like to go down there, she calls it the 'dungeon '. ;)

Couldn't have crossed in the first generation. That comes at polination and will show in the next generation
You guys should do a farm tour.
Wonderful mesl!!!!

8:09 That's kind of how I feel about cucumbers. Still eat a few though. I figure, if I grow them for my mom, I may as well eat some too.
Can you please share what herbs you used on the cucumbers? The pasta looks great too! Thank you!
I really miss Bri being more in the video. You should get an instapot. You can cook a whole frozen chicken in 45 minutes
Awe cute video! My husband wants to know if the baby ever got his patty and noodles 😆
great video
The food looked yummy
Cute family
That dinner look so good. Will you share salmon patty recipe?
What nifty bins for the hen's nests. Where did you get them, and what are they called?
Annie Gaddis They are milk crates with an area cut out for the hens to enter.
Lovely mulch on your corn plot. May I ask why you opted not to polycrop?
I noticed that the feathers on the backs of some of your hens were gone or damaged and there skin was bleeding. Have you considered using hen saddles or aprons?
