There is Hope, when we see young people who love the land and enjoy growing ... anything... God gave us all this and created us to be tending the garden.. God Bless those who honor His work.
I would give up a billion dollars to live simply on my own land surrounded by nature, with my family, animals and plants, far away from other humans. I would eat well, breathe fresh air, trade honest labor into bountiful harvest. That is true wealth. That is true meaning.
My friend, I would have to say look out at the world. It has been shown that this can be created in the cities if we are willing. Getting away from other humans will not solve any problems. There is an old saying that rings truer today than it ever has. "Anyone can become enlightened in the mountains. It is time we become enlightened in the city."
I never leave myself enough space in the garden for flowers , and I always regret it ... this year I really want lots of flowers ...you have officially motivated me!
lots of flowers, wonderful family, home grown food on the table, cows and goats that want you to scratch their heads and necks. you are beyond rich. the more I watch your videos, the more I realize you have one of the best channels there is. may you forever have many flowers and lots of fresh eggs.
Your videos have inspired and reignited a flame I thought was extinguished! I look forward to your daily updates !! Your family shows both the good and bad of homesteading, which is fantastic. Through our fumbles and failures we learn and grow as people. Your children are learning such great things, keep up all your great work!
Rich? You are millionaires! Just think about all the love there is in your lives, the kindness in your hearts, the sweetness in your children. We'd give anything to be your neighbors. Blessings.
I can't think of anything that can make your life any richer.! You are rich without all the trappings of a rich (moneyed) person.! Awesome children, lifestyle, garden, animals. I envy you.! BTW, do you have the space, need, or wish to build a pond for your ducks and tilapia fish.?
Love!! FYI fellow followers: If we watch the ad at the beginning of each video for at least 30 sec they get a bit of income! I didn't realize until yesterday (watching one of their older videos) that if I skip the ad I'm not helping them at all, so now I'm leaving the ad running. 😃
Thank you Bri. I started my day out watching this video! It started my day out on a happy note today...I planted zinnias and other flowers this year this year and they are blooming like crazy now. But I've been so busy, I have not taken time to appreciate them. Thank you for reminding me how very rich I am. I will be taking the time to appreciate my flowers this morning...You are a very special lady! Thanks again for your sweet and thoughtful video! :-)
Yes...so rich. My daughter was an avid gardener back a few years ago, at the time she got married. She grew all the flowers for her wedding and for all the tables. They were beautiful. Talk about rich.
BeRealisticLove Me too but I'm 49 (just!). But we started living like this when I was around 24. We grow a lot of our own stuff and keep chickens for eggs (hope to get a couple of ducks soon too- mainly because we love them as they are such characters!). We even used to brew our own cider and beer. I want to try to live a self sustaining life as possible and also rescue and rehome animals, particularly horses and others labelled as 'livestock'. Go for it: it's the best way of living a real life. Best of luck to you x.
This is beautiful, I am lucky enough to enjoy homegrown food from my father inlaws garden, right now I have berries, pumpkins and green beans in my freezer enough to last until the next harvest.your cut flowers are beautiful, the bees enjoyed them and now its time for you to enjoy them indoors.
Hello, Bri, this Brother Mark from Bromark farms here in Crossville, Tn. we plant zinias also we plant marigolds also we have hollyhocks in our herb garden. We also plant mint along our grapes they control the japanese beetles and the june bugs. note* most of your flowers produce pyrithian that is a bug repellant or killer. Your vlogs are wonderful. May the LORD continue to bless your family. My wife Miss. Cindy and I pray for your family.
Awwww.... it just makes my day seeing Donald enjoy that pool! SO thoughtful of you to give him one. He is a "Proud Grandpa" to those little ducklings.... SO adorable.... I LOVE zinnias too! Grew up with them as my dad planted them in our garden every single year along with gladiolas, Hollyhocks, roses and potted geraniums. I can't believe how many butterflies you have there and bees, enjoying all those wonderful flowers. SO lovely!!! You are SUCH a sweetheart Bri and I adore hanging out with you. I noticed the goats following you were together in matching colors pretty much. The blacks were all together, the browns and even the lighter colored two. How cute is that!! It's such a JOY to come to your place for a visit. :) Thank you! Love and blessings.... XOX
Love your channel! We have a house in the mountains of W./NC. Just saw the rattlesnake/blueberry picking video. Rattle snakes are usually in the rocky areas, but also eat birds that feed off blueberries/blackberries. Western NC has more copperhead bites than any state in the U.S. They strike without warning. The baby copperheads are born live in July-Aug. and are very active and venomous. We were taught to hike, pick berries, etc. and carry a large walking stick. We prodded around with the stick BEFORE putting our hands or feet in. Did the same when working in the garden. It's fun to make good, sturdy walking sticks, plus they're so useful. God bless!!
I love this! I can relate to the duck pool- we would scoop the water out and use it again on the garden or tip it out under trees. This time we're going to use a real 2nd hand bath and raise it slightly so that we can just pull the plug to empty it on the veggie garden. And the kids are so sweet- a great life for them.
i love zinnias, they really bring in he pollinating insects too. they are very easy to grow. north carolina is so green CA is very dry during summer. i always plant marigolds in my veggies. ive never heard of blight. i never heard of zuchini beetles until two years ago because we never had them before. i find this puzzling. donald is having a wonderful swim! i feel rich when i can give my neighbors veggies from our garden.
Hi Bri, as a recently newer sub, I’ve tended to see Art more in the videos thus far. This was a wonderful vid to watch on a cold frozen winters day, Springs coming. You have beautiful gardens and such a content, kindred spirit. God bless you both and the family. 😃🇨🇦
Yes sometimes its the simple things in life that really make you happy. Like a room full of flowers that you grew. Greetings I am Ronnie and I love visiting the NC mtns. I go their often. I am just about 2 hrs away from their. Anyways just found your channel. Talk to you later
I agree with you about Zinnias. They are the best. Have you noticed that each year you plant seeds from the last year that more and more are pink, and less are yellow and orange? At least that happens for me. So every 4th year or so I buy a new package of seed to refresh my colors.
Oh Bri...queen annes lace. I have milkweed in several of my gardens and people laugh at me. But the butterflies love AND need them so as I always tell people...a weed is just a perennial out of place! Your gardens, both flower and vegetable make me smile because no matter how much we do or don't do with the weeds...they ALWAYS grace us with something to marvel over and bring joy to our lives. Glad to see you vlogging today.
Your garden is glorious!!! I 100% agree with you on having zinnias in the garden, I love having all the butterflies visiting them and my son always asks to bring a few blooms to the table! It really does make you feel rich!!
I love that you love Anne with an "E"! I actually live on Prince Edward Island, the home of Anne! You all need to come visit! The Islands beauty described in L.M. Montgomery's books is totally accurate and even more wonderfully splendid in person. If you ever get the chance to come, we would love to show you the sights and secret spots the tourists only get to see if they have a great guide!
Beautiful flowers, beautiful place And beautiful, happy children! There is a special peace and level of achievement when you grow your own vegetables & flowers (I'm just getting started on flowers). Nothing beats being able to walk a few feet out to your garden to cut some fresh Thyme, Basil, Rosemary etc. Everyone should do it!
What a beautiful life you made for yourselves!! I Love everything about the video, including Donald's much deserved swim in the pool. He works very hard. ;) Thank you for sharing you little slice of heaven. Love and Peace to you all!
You are wealthy and very blessed that you have the wisdom to understand what true riches are. It took me years to begin harvesting seeds for the next year. It never ceases to amaze me how much life is in one little seed, totally miraculous. You have your hands full with two gorgeous little ones plus taking care of your goats. (I've always wanted goats and peacocks). Love your place and your spirit. Earth Angel!!
If what you have right there is not Heaven, I don't know what is. You just took my heart back to my village in India where I lived this very life before leaving it in pursuit of money. Gosh, what I'd give to get all that back.
Zinnia is my absolute favorite flower ever. I've never seen a video about them b4. I use them to line my driveway and tuck lavender, dill, basil and other herbs, along with some marigold in between. But it's the zinnia that brings so many butterflies to my yard. At the time of the monarch migration, you cannot enter my door way without having a multitude of butterflies landing on you as you come in. Love this video!!
Bri, I love watching you in the vlogs. You have such a beautiful smile and make me smile. You capture the true feeling of homesteading to me. tyfs Pat in NC
Pull up the plants and either seal them tightly in a trash bag, or secure them under black plastic, where the sun's heat can kill the spores. Do not compost blight-infected plants. Best solution out there and works quickly. You're basically smothering the blight. Oddly, this is also a situation where compost isn't a good thing around tomato plants.
If the blight isn't too bad, then you can cover the plant itself with black plastic in the heat of the day, checking regularly so the plant doesn't bake, a little wilting doesn't hurt. For the really bad plants though pull them up completely and use the method of sealing them in black plastic to completely kill the blight. The compost around the tomato plants doesn't let the Sun do its job and kill the blight in the soil. Another way to help with this is use raised beds for your tomato plants again no mulch.
A very beautiful area, beautiful kind of life and beautiful you who apreciate the beauty of nature and its beatiful symplicity. I agree, indeed you are rich, very rich!
The black butterflies are so sweet! I have never seen so many black butterflies in one place before, all over your Zenius. Such a beautiful garden!!🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀🌹🍀
I ADORE zinnias! When I visited our kids' college campus (Go Herd!) one fall their ornamental zinnias had gone to seed to I plucked some and put in my pocket. I replanted the next spring and continue to save seed. It's pretty neat growing beautiful zinnias with meaning behind them. Our sunflowers were shotty this year.....only some grew at all and most were very small and just now starting to flower. My Dad passed on a year and a half ago and my kids and I plant marigolds (his favorite) at the cemetery. They are beautiful, useful, strong flowers! Congrats on your successful homestead! God bless!
When I was watching you Bri I was thinking how does she do this with all 4 kids in the house? My 2, 4, and 6 year old would be tearing the house down while I would be outside. But I do the same thing you do! I lay them down for naps and then tend to my chickens, goats, and garden. I manage to get my devotions in at night when they are sleeping. It all works out!
What does your husband do for work? How much property do you own? How long have you lived on this property? How old are your children? Boys / girls? Do they help with chores? How did you acquire your property? Where do you live? As much info as you're comfortable with revealing would help a lot. Thanks for such a beautiful view of your country life.
Thank you for sharing your wealth with us in this and other beautiful videos. Plant some calendula and poppy flowers. Calendulas reseed readily, so you will never have to sow them again -just pull out when they grow where you do not want them. They are pretty and medicinal - can be used in internally and externally. They do taste bitter, however, bitter taste signals their healing qualities to the liver and digestion. Petals are not bitter though, so we always use them in our salads. Marigold petals are also edible despite that flower smells kind of strong.
I’m 18 and this has been a little dream of mine for quite a while now. Maybe something on a smaller scale, but you are giving your children one of the greatest gifts by raising them in this environment and giving them nothing but love. This seems like a life that would be very beneficial to me given the childhood and upbringing i had which was in dangerous parts of cities and i missed out on a caring and care free atmosphere. I’m sure there are a lot of hard things you must deal with, but you truly are rich.
Absolutely!! You correctly defined 'RICH.' One does not need the toxic fiat dollar printed by the criminal federal reserve to be 'rich.' You and your family are indeed rich and blessed..
Zinnias are SO easy to grow! Including very drought tolerant. The only problem I have with them is powdery mildew, but that comes late in the season, after we've had three months to enjoy them. LOVE that perspective about having flowers! Bouquets from the store are expensive. I never looked at it that way.
That's so awesome. I purposely don't grow any flowers because they are not edible. Lol. I just enjoy the ones on my veggie plants before they turn into something useful like food.
If interested, you can eat hostas, dandelions and daylilly. Both flower and leaves are edible.. The hostas are delicious! Also the begonia, marigold and carnations flowers....enjoy!
I always grow marigolds, gladiolus, chrysanthemums, and cannas at the end of my garden. That end faces the road, and I always have people stopping to look, and tell me how beautiful my garden is.
My definition of rich is so much like yours, despite no longer having land, or even my own home I'm also rich in love and blessings but, so many of us can't afford to buy the land that it takes to homestead on . Nice goal to have but so few of us will realize the dream, especially if we once got close and lost it for reasons beyond our control. I've enjoyed see your joy exhibited in this video, especially because you have little children and there is no place better to raise children than on a healthy piece of productive land. Good for you for being willing to do the work, because it would not work for lazy people. Lovely flowers and food; may God continue in his grace and mercy He's poured out on you and your family and homestead.
Such a lovely video, we watched it several times. You are lucky to have so many nice butterflies, such as the Pipevine and Spicebush Swallowtails on your zinnias. They love zinnias, cosmos, and butterflybush, and you must also have some hummingbirds in a flower garden like that as well. The "moths" you pointed out are actually Skipper butterflies. Where we live in northeast Massachusetts, the butterflies have been on the decline for many years due to the loss of habitat to development and spraying . Butterflies are very sensitive to the environment, so you must live in a pristine area.
Prune lowest tomato branches off so don't touch the ground. Saw video yesterday where for blight and fungus, man sprays hydrogen peroxide (8 or 12 T. Per gallon) on all sides of leaves and stems when sees blight. Waits a day and does it again. Waits a week and sprays baking soda water (2 T. To a gallon of water I think) to raise PH of leaves so fungus can't grow. He waits a week I think and repeats all. I like the idea of getting inexpensive cattle panels and training cucs and tomatoes up them to keep them off the ground and make easier to harvest...gives them ore air flow and sunshine for better production. You probably know all that, but in case you haven't thought of it. Nice video and lovely flowers! Cute little helpers! Bet chickens like those green bean pieces. I love flowers, especially zinnias and marigolds
Beautiful garden beautiful lovely flowers...with Donald swimming in the pool, that's a perfect place to seat and relaxe while having coffee..i love your garden/farm 😚😗 watch...
Bri....gotta tell you....your videos have improved immensely! Short and to the point and most enjoyable to watch....and I am like you Zinias are my FAVORITE! They will actually reseed themselves (or at least the California Giants will) and when they come up each year I let them grow enough to get a few leaves then I dig them up and transplant them where I want them. I may have to plant the veggies but God plants the flowers in my garden :)
To be rich is not what you have in bank account but what you have in your heart. You are much richer than some of those greedy millionaires!
*Khmerminn Sota ... With the beauty of your vegetable and flower garden! 🌺🌻🌷🌸🍠🍇🍎🌽🍆🍒💖*

I would give up a billion dollars to live simply on my own land surrounded by nature, with my family, animals and plants, far away from other humans. I would eat well, breathe fresh air, trade honest labor into bountiful harvest. That is true wealth. That is true meaning.

A billion? You can get decent land for 50k. Another 20-50 to get set up.
Wouldn't it be smarter to spend like 50-100k on a nice piece of land, and then have just under a billion dollars left for whatever?
I'm pretty sure "a billion dollars" in this context is just a figure of speech, not a literal amount. Duh.
Shutup! You're just a figure of speech! Get out!
Your videos fill us with hope and sense of peace and well being that defies comprehension in this tumultuous world. Thank you!
I love the sound of the animals, the goats, the chickens, the ducks, all of it. Great vlog.

We are absolutely in love with WNC. We have been there twice this year and we are preparing to make a move from FL in less than 18 months.
Back in the day, zinnias were known as "old maids". I love them. You're place is beautiful.

Zinnias are one of my favorites too. We have a huge patch of them. They are beautiful colors and the cut flowers last forever.

God bless!
I am happy for you you are really rich be happy and thank God good luck.
Beautiful flower bouquet for your friend! Beautiful gardens and Dolly had to think about whether she wanted to go in there, cute!
That looked like a banana pepper. Love your flowers!
Check out their web site and videos. Here you go. ruclips.net/channel/UCWVCeqJ3lbpOrkZ4rleky0g
Really need a pond for those ducks and the goose.
Pool is better because you can clean it everyday. Ducks and geese make a huge mess out of a pond.
I like your harvesting basket. Your garden is really self sufficient, lovely place to be.
you literally have everything I want... even the mountain side landscape what state do you live in it's beautiful
I can’t wait to move to my 3 acres land when I retire I’ll be surrounded with beautiful flowers 😍
Love your flowers & I also love "Anne with an E" --Gina
I’m 18 and this has been a little dream of mine for quite a while now. Maybe something on a smaller scale, but you are giving your children one of the greatest gifts by raising them in this environment and giving them nothing but love. This seems like a life that would be very beneficial to me given the childhood and upbringing i had which was in dangerous parts of cities and i missed out on a caring and care free atmosphere. I’m sure there are a lot of hard things you must deal with, but you truly are rich.
Absolutely!! You correctly defined 'RICH.' One does not need the toxic fiat dollar printed by the criminal federal reserve to be 'rich.' You and your family are indeed rich and blessed..
greetings from Indonesian farmers
Have you ever made refrigerator pickles? I see you have lots of cucs. It is so easy and they are delicious.
Zinnias are SO easy to grow! Including very drought tolerant. The only problem I have with them is powdery mildew, but that comes late in the season, after we've had three months to enjoy them.
LOVE that perspective about having flowers! Bouquets from the store are expensive. I never looked at it that way.
"and of course fry it" amen :)
Beautiful! I enjoyed see Donald in the pool.
Looking forward to watching the little ducklings in there also.
You're back!!!! Yay! I missed you and all the kiddies!!!
Me too!!! And Bri looks radiant today!
Bri always looks "glowy" she surely is enlightened by our great Universe.
I love seeing all the butterflies in your flower garden.
So cute!! You can make money of your vegetables were i live NYC organic veggies are expensive. Berries are a good one to grow there expensive to buy.
flowers are heavenly! yours are so Beautiful! Your entire homestead is filled with life.
AND ....... LOTS of love as well!!!!
And nasturtiums are edible too!
marigolds are actually edible too. They have been used to make tea I think.. but have not tried. lol yuck! :-)
I always grow marigolds, gladiolus, chrysanthemums, and cannas at the end of my garden. That end faces the road, and I always have people stopping to look, and tell me how beautiful my garden is.
My frugal life if you mix your edibles with edibles for bees you get a better crop.
Love your homestead, and family. :) can't wait to start our own soon! Thanks for being inspirational!
Such a pleasant video
Such beautiful flowers, loving the ducks!
Oooo! And your children are your richest blessing of all!
You offered some nice tips that I did not know. Especially about the peaches. Thank you BRI. 🐓🐓🐓
You are blessed with a beautiful homestead. I love how your animals are so well taken care of !
This is my dream life😀
Such a lovely video, we watched it several times. Butterflies are very sensitive to the environment, so you must live in a pristine area.
amazing life i wish someday my wife and I live the way you are living , where are you located ? you are our inspiration
I am so jealous of your life...i need this!
Beautiful garden beautiful lovely flowers...with Donald swimming in the pool, that's a perfect place to seat and relaxe while having coffee..i love your garden/farm 😚😗 watch...
Bri try roasting your okra instead of frying. Yummy...
