I feel like Matt had the right to be there. However, having spent no time on the spot, Ben had better knowledge about how the fish were setting up and where the juice was. Matt set his boat up directly on top of the money hole and wouldn’t listen to Ben when he asked and tried to help him reposition. Matt burned the spot, not listening to Bens advice. Ben is x10 the angler Matt is.
Ben is great, no argument, but Ben was throwing a small crankbait on the shellbar..Matt TOLD him he was going right to that spot first thing- he has every right to set wherever he wants- what you need to learn in tournament fishing is adjusting to other anglers positioning and having back up spots- which he did- but Matt had every right to be there if that’s the argument, which it is. Sure Matt didn’t have a shot at placing in the money, but it’s a body of water, Ben was just butt hurt about Matt setting up when Ben wanted to cast. Boo hoo, and I’m a huge MFr. I just don’t agree with how Ben handled the situation, neither does he, he came out and said his frustrations from the entire day… he was just butt hurt… what’s gonna happen now when the fields cut almost in half? This is nothing to what we r gonna see …. It’s gonna be cutthroat as all hell this year
He set his boat up on the hole to keep Ben from fishing ! He was playing dumb ! He didn't have the right to be there just because he had an earlier boat draw ! He's a bum with zero fishing sense ! In the old days they would have fought in the parking lot ! And that BS excuse about if he thinks it right then he's right ! That's the problem with people today they are entitled and they think they have the right to jump on someone else's fish because he saw him fishing there and knew he caught fish and he had a earlier boat draw ! That's his excuse and he's sticking to it ! Bullshit ! He is definitely a hole buzzard ! He wouldn't get off the top because he had a buddy that was higher in the tourney and he was running block for him ! You ever thought about that ! He definitely wouldn't let him fish because he didn't want him to catch anything its one of the two ! So how's that sound !
They also hashed it out on BTL podcast and talked as gentlemen. Respect to each of them for actually putting themselves in that situation and letting everyone hear both sides. By the way, your recap is great! Get all the info in 15 mins
The fact is this, Wheeler Lake fishes small. Really small. Ben was on the juice, but on day 2 he was the 164th draw. You can't expect that hole you were fishing all day on Day 1 to not be occupied, especially when you're sitting in 13th at the end of Day 1. THAT SAID - When Ben showed up to that spot on day 2, he should have been given back his spot. Was Matt required to? Absolutely not. Should he have (especially considering he wasn't even in contention)? Absolutely. There's a lot of pros that don't like Ben right now. He's a RUclips star that literally just burst onto the scene, making a big splash in his first year on the tour. Call it jealousy or whatever you want.....Ben is going to run into this problem in future tournaments. It seems like the only way these guys can beat him is by figuring out what he's doing, then blocking it on the next day. Ben is going to have to start getting creative in his practice days. Fishing in a different boat. Not wearing a bright red "402" t-shirt that you can see from a mile away on open water. Stuff like that. Quite honestly I think he's one of the most passionate and skilled anglers on the tour. Give him a few more years and we might have a new KVD or Mike Ike.
No FACT is they had too many boats on it if u fishing g-Ville or Toledo bend which is HUGE that many boats gonna make it seem smaller that's a Alot of boats running around then add end the locals its just too many folks on the lake which is a problem since covid TOO many boats on most lakes
I agree, and the unwritten rules are real, just for courtesy... They'll be stealing lots of spots, because they're basically sad representations of Men... Can it really be officially regulated,or can Men be Men and act like that Man was on the spot, before anyone else and successful enough that they should back off. Sitting spying a Man fishing, whilst in competition with him, and fishing on the same spot is flat out cheating
I disagree on one point. Not in contention shouldn’t matter. They flip flop draws for a reason. That lake was setup for good day/ bad day depending on the draw. Panger had 11 plus pounds. He catches 18 day 2 he would have finished higher than Ben. The lake did fish small. Way too many boats. Tight Lines.
Matt knew he pulled a dick move. Watching him explain himself while smiling the whole time is a dead giveaway that he knew he was wrong. Kinda like a little dog that walks up to a pit bull sideways wagging his tail with his ears pinned down licking his mouth. He knows he’s the sigma and Ben is the alpha.
Great editing, you earned a new subscriber. I like your style! I actually fished Wheeler all weekend and just got back. I absolutely smashed them. Not many big ones but I caught them nonstop when I got on ‘em. The problem with that lake is the waves if you’re offshore and the amount of floating eel grass limits your bait selection. Saturday it was calm and the grass wasn’t floating for some reason and everywhere I pulled up I whacked them. I love that lake.
A true fisherman has respect for his anglers, no mater how bad of day I'm having I would never move in on someone or cut them off, that's low man. Catch'um up Ben..
I know all about hole buzzards. The guides on Lake X follow me around. When ever I catch big bass all the locals follow me around for about 3 weeks. I also fish offshore most of the year. The nice thing about offshore is you have to fish the spot on the spot. Plus you have to be there at the right time. It doesn't bother me if a hole buzzards fish near my offshore spots. They don't have the knowledge to find the spot on the spot, or have historical data for the right time to fish it.
To know that Milliken was on that spot and he chose to go there anyways is not professional Milliken was way up ahead of him and if that's the case why didn't he fish it on day one later in the day. Karma's a b**** and it may come back to bite you someday before the year's over
This happens 100 times every tournament from bassmasters to weekend kayaker. If you get to the spot first, it's yours. If someone asks to take it or move in, that’s your decision to let them in or not. BUT just because you have a big platform doesn't give you the right to blast someone for doing nothing wrong. The whole reason boats flip numbers is to give everyone a chance to get to a spot. Ben was in 14thish he doesn't get to get every spot to himself. I think this whole thing is pretty stupid. If you fish tournaments, this is what to expect.
Well unfortunately on any TVA lake when it’s ledge season you better be prepared to have multiple boats fishing within casting distance. Not saying it’s ethical but it’s just how it is. I hate it honestly but good luck convincing the others.
I can’t believe people are fighting over 67th place spot? I don’t think anyone was jumping Keith’s dam. I pattern fish in shallow water and never have this kind of problem. I’m generally not anywhere for long and on to the next place. Have fun looking at that screen! The idea that Ben was ever in contention to win that event seems like a stretch? And if you are fishing the same place as Matt you’re in trouble.
@@BoTillman46480 He was almost 4 lbs out in 13th place! Did you ever fish at that level? Try Google, look up me while your at it or better yet watch Hella Bass next Wednesday.

Good they were able to hash it out, but during tournament there are no my spot!! First man there but to come in on someone fishing is very disrespectful and this is what happens when your fishing multiple days tournaments someone sees you on a place and your in the top with a big bag you better have a good number the next day or you better catch everything that opens it mouth on your first day. Just my observation
This is why there is a flip flop on draw numbers. That way they both have a shot. Panger did nothing wrong. He was courteous enough to tell Ben and offered to share the spot. They hashed it out like men. If they aren’t mad, then no one should be.
The bottom line is this. A lot of people think they can become rich and famous fishing bass tournaments. Especially guys who want to be a professional and present fishing pros. There's more aarogrant people fishing now than I've ever seen. And livescope 360 etc plays a part in it. Rather you like it are not.
Matt had the right to be there but their friends ben goes on his platform and supports him and helps get him views he has never spent any time on that hole he wasn’t in contention he literally only caught 10 pounds the day before and ben had the chance to do something unheard of extremely extremely special in his first season he was only 1 pound out of second-place 2 pounds out of 1st Place Matt could’ve backed off and actually block the hole for him and helped him and then once he got there help set up together and fish it together but instead he went at it by himself and set up right on top of the fish and ruined it for everyone
This so called,my water takes many forms,I have been semi inteminenated by a Toyota pro, came up on me with a giant wake telling me that was his water,it didn't go well for him,it was recorded, another irritating issue is pulling by and way pointing, always something.
Been around the tourney game my whole life. Lmao, welcome to tourney fishing this happens all the time in every tourney. Whoever is first to a community hole gets to stay there, no matter how big it is. Making a big deal out of nothing.

You guys cry about somebody being on your spot that's one of the reasons that they draw a boat number so if your late one day getting out there to a spot maybe on the next day you get an earlier number and can get to the better spot. Reminder they are fishing for MONEY not fun they got boat payments, truck payments, house payments. And this crap about well you were way down the leader board, well if I get on the good spot and get a 30lb bag now you're back in the top 10. Just remember it's about money.
It’s also about not burning the offshore spot because you have your boat positioned directly on top of the juice. Matt had no idea how to fish that edge and had fish stacked directly under his boat, making the wrong casts. He caught very few there. Ben wasn’t psst he was there, he was psst bcuz he wouldn’t back up and grab a better angle so they could both catch ‘em.
