And some general thoughts: while i do agree that there isnt anything new about MrBeast, its still important for his viewers, especially kids, to know this info, bc they need to understand what kind of content (it defiently deserves to be called that) this is and to not get duped, especially with the gambling stuff. We already suffer from video game execs shamelessly employing predatory tactics in video games aimed often at children and teenagers. So i personally welcome these sorts of "exposes". But i really appreciate your video, lots of great insight and a sober look at the situation (im personally still gald that Jaiden won, bc even MrBeast realized that she is the best one🤓)
First of all i loved your video it was very captivating probably gonna see more on your channel and i really loved your point of view since you are an insider to the industry. And this part is to share my thoughts on the topic: I love to watch MrBeast but with Dogpack's video i just realized one more time how thing works. shady business with good image or keep it low. My concerns about MrBeast wasn't about him being fake. I am grown enough to see if the videos were made to be entertain or not. But my main concern is about manipulating kids, gambling tactics on kids and even saying his chocolate is healthier and also all of these by also being the biggest on youtube. No matter if pepsi or McDonald or any company did it. And even when pepsi used gambling tactics in Philippines that backfired at them because they failed. Then what about promoting unhealthy things as healthy and using gambling tactics to sell it. And lastly i agree that this drama got this big because he is the biggest youtuber but that doesn't mean that if a smaller youtuber did it that wouldn't have any consequences so this shouldn't be used as shield. Because it would come down to let him do whatever he wants and get back to our business and it would also be the same as yelling at someone that they shouldn't burns a tree while keeping it silent when someone else is burning a forest.
Sorry about the reupload. Last version had a segment that went into an infamous 1940s film and I had to remove it for RUclips. Thanks to everyone who watched it last time around
you miss the whole point of why dogpack and now many others are pointing these things out. we don't care about the technical definition of what he is. " reailty host" or "game show host". it doesnt matter. its that James built his whole image on the lie that his videos are 100% real. he has publicly denied their use of CGI. a Mr Beast employee publicly tried to refute dogpacks points and in his refute he publicly denied any editing of constants drama. james uses his image as an " honest" youtber who doesnt fake videos to sell his fake charity's and other damaging thing like illegal lottery's. at the moemnt its all alleged. but your so hung up on the technical term for what jimmy is becuse of the type of content he producess. the issue isnt the content. its the lie he sells for that content so he can allegedly use that image to take advanage of his young viewers. this just shows how your years of traditional media gives you 0 insight to how online creators work and the expectation/ relationship that they have with the viewers.
While I wouldn't put it as harshly as you, I agree. I'd also like to point out that, from my perspective, saying he's employing the same tactics as reality TV doesn't make what he does ok, because what reality TV does is not OK either. I know reality TV boosted ratings and became a global phenomenon, but it ruined TV in a lot of ways. Deceptive editing is deceptive, by the very definition of the term. In my book, it's only ok if everyone: the hosts, the participants and the viewers are explicitly in on it. Otherwise it's unethical.
yes but what we really wanna know is, when a Mr.Beast video says someone "stayed 100 days in a bunker" it's TRUE that someone REALLY stayed 100 days in a bunker, I don't care if there're scripted events, prepared actors, filtered personalities etc.. me personally, I wanna know if the challenge is real. Because I'm 95% it's not.
This is really an interesting take and i think i massively agree on my own personal view. (Obviously before the other moral stuff and poor employee stuff) However, i think there are a few reasons people dislike his interpretation of reality tv vs standard. its much more focused on kids with the intention to deceive them, and more importantly comes with the caviot of mr beast claiming multiple times they are never faked and even more importantly, built his brand on being a good person. The videos being less genuine i think fairly gives the impression that a lot of the "nice" things in his videos are no longer nice. The random cash rewarda that now seem to be just funneling to his employees etc. the foundation of his brand being his genuine niceness and an appeal to kids really is what destroyed him for most people. Learning that someone is not who they say they are is usually a cause for dislike in tv and online in general.
The dogpack upload veered off track, which wasn’t his intention I feel, this came about because of allegations against Ava, maybe he thought this will snowball into something bigger, I don’t know. But, you’ve right all these reality shows with prizes are scripted, entertaining to some, but as believable as a soap opera. If there is a legal problem, and Jimmy turned a blind eye, that will be a problem. 👏👏👏
You poor soul, seeing all of that raw footage. (I really do hope it didnt like affect your mood on those days, cuz i know how one shitty interaction on a job can ruin a day😅)
@@ajourneythroughcinema1271 Man, sad to hear, never liked reality tv, bc of how gross they often make everything look, from teh sets to the cast and encouraging everyone to be assholes and presenting this as "reality"
So, you are only going to address that reality t.v. uses editing to make/exaggerate storylines? But you are ignoring the claims on rigging competitions? Imagine multiple contestants on Survivor were actually members of the production team/ their families. Your point about Extreme Home Makeover is also wrong. There is a lot of controversy on things like unpaid labor and shoddy build quality to even their selection process.
I did go into it. Almost all reality tv is rigged for the storyline they want to tell or to achieve a satisfying ending. Jimmy likely uses family and friends due to not having the production backbone for a robust casting department to vet people on his episodes, leading to him using people he already knows will be charismatic in front of the camera. EHM was brought up to draw parallels to how even larger shows on cable/network use feel good television to make a profit.
@@ajourneythroughcinema1271 You do not answer the ethical question of competition between a normal contestant and a member/friend/family of staff. Just that it makes sense to cast for T.V. ready personalities which is fine. As for painting the production as 'Jimmy and friends' not having staffing and vetting resources despite the company having a 1.5 billion dollar evaluation as of 2022.

You are right. No I don’t. Because like I said in this video, I’m not condoning this sort of content. Just explaining how or why it works this way.
