Alex (Luke Ford) and his team discover the Emperor's tomb, along with several deadly booby traps.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen continues the tale set into motion by director Stephen Sommers with this globe-trotting adventure that finds explorer Rick O'Connell and son attempting to thwart a resurrected emperor's (Jet Li) plan to enslave the entire human race. It's been 2,000 years since China's merciless Emperor Han and his formidable army were entombed in terra cotta clay by a double-dealing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh), but now, after centuries in suspended animation, an ancient curse is about to be broken. Thanks to his childhood adventures alongside father Rick (Brendan Fraser) and mother Evelyn (Maria Bello), dashing young archeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is more than familiar with the power of the supernatural. After he is tricked into awakening the dreaded emperor from his eternal slumber, however, the frightened young adventurer is forced to seek out the wisdom of his parents -- both of whom have had their fair share of experience battling the legions of the undead. Should the fierce monarch prove capable of awakening his powerful terra cotta army, his diabolical plan for world domination will finally be set into motion. Of course, the one factor that this emperor mummy failed to consider while solidifying his power-mad plans was the O'Connells, and before this battle is over, the monstrous monarch will be forced to contend with the one family that isn't frightened by a few rickety reanimated corpses.

Rob Cohen had always been very fascinated by Chinese culture and history, so when he was approached and heard the story was set in China, he immediately signed on as director. He insisted that the movie be filmed in China as much as possible, and made sure that ancient Chinese culture and art be depicted as accurately as possible

Interestingly enough that dragon spout that dropped that ball into the frog’s mouth is actually a seismometer, to predict earthquakes and tremors.
It is actually proven that they are purely decorative and don't work as real seismic meters.

Of course it didn’t work, it’s was two thousand years ago! This was before the understanding of plate tectonics and the ancient Chinese posited that earthquakes were caused by wind. Also we don’t know if it worked as it is said to have worked, records only state the decorative elements and not the mechanism within the main body of the machine.

Saving a backstabbing old man from booby traps in an ancient temple somewhere in China is one of the worst things you can do in your whole life, it could cost you a lot, and I really mean it
At 2:29 you can hear a very familiar score. Indiana Jones going into the map room and also when the Ark of the Covenant is opened. The beginning of it is very spot on.

No he is stoned the same way. It's just the stone formed differently to how he is. So inside, he's in the same position as he was when he transformed (it's noticed when he escapes that his hands break out at the head.) But the stone just looks like that.

In the case of the emperor, he actually has a statue built around him and resembled a chariot rider, while the emperor's coffin had a decoy eunuch. It was a kind of last line of defence, although the problem is that the rider still looks important, especially if he was a general who led his army from the front. If you wanted to hide the emperor so he wouldn't get resurrected, hide him amongst the terracotta army!
@@theblegar1commenter765 I know this comment is 2 years old but I keep seeing people complain that the emperor is in a "completely different position". These people either didn't watch the movie or are stupid. It's probably a bit of both, more the latter.

0:19 That's the world's first seismometer made during the Later Han Dynasty of China.
The terracotta soldiers that come out here were made during the Qin Dynasty, long before the Later Han,and it's kinda weird that this seismometer is in that scene.

The director probably decides that an artístic and historic license would be no problem
They didn't necessarily bury Huang Di exactly right after he was cursed (or died), they could have buried him during the following Han dynasty because Chinese customs dictate that Emperors to be given a proper burial
And fully automatic weapons that can function after thousands of years are not invented until like 100 years into the future.

If ancient people were that advanced we might have had computers and airplanes a few hundred years earlier.
Chinese, Sumerian, Indian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab and some pre-Colombian inventions are VASTLY underrated, man, like, they're miles better than modern western ones invented in the 19th to 21st century. We can't hold a candle to these ancient civilizations when it comes to inventing things, IMO. We need to keep learning from them!

They should've filled the tombs with traps, specifically punji sticks/stakes. One false move, and you're impaled for eternity, with or without the treasures you attempted to steal. I'm sure if this had been the case, many of the tombs we know today, would be left intact or, at the very least, undiscovered. To me, there's no difference between archaeology and grave robbing: you're disturbing something that wasn't meant to be opened.
Tf kind of logic is that, how are we going to appreciate and respect the long dead when we don't even know they exist

Actually found this film less disappointing than Crystal Skull.
