    I've noticed that polished aluminium inserts do a way better job for general turning jobs on ferrous materials. The olde worlde micrometer is coming along just grand!

      On soft steel they work really well.

    I find your videos an absolute pleasure to watch. The way you always find ways to solve unique situations and use "scrap" to make your projects is fantastic.

    I bought some of those Aluminum inserts to turn Aluminum on my mini lathe. They did an amazing job as compared to a carbide insert on Aluminum. Nice job! You make us all wish we had that shaper. But I’m sure it’s your skill that really makes it work. 😉

    Hi Michel ☺ cleaning up the part on the mill, I expected you to put an engine turned finish on it , but it cleaned up ok. And reusing your leftover metal from the brake drum project was good, pity all those chips can't be used again,lol. Thanks for another interesting video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

    For the long half hole you could also use the piece already made and glue an oversize piece to it to drill the hole in one go.

    Nice one Rusti. It's all coming together nicely. In regards to cleaning up a face of flat plate, try using scotch-brite disk in the mill spindle to clean up the face of material. It seems to work rather well on aluminium, but I haven't tried it on steel. Cheers, Aaron.

    G'day Rusty. Another great video production. With the flycutter, I thought you might have attained a finer glass like finish with a slow auto feed & slightly higher quill speed. Either way, considering the amount of work involved in all the parts, you have an excellent project, which we can Name
    The RustyMeter 😅🎉😊 👍🏻

    Hi Michel, i wonder that you use the parting tool for side cutting operation. I n my opinion the tool does not like side loads at all. But it is unbeatable at slotting and parting. Best regards Tobias

    • @Rustinox
      @Rustinox  7 месяцев назад

      Well, I didn't use the parting blade. I did the side with the "all round" tool.

    • @tosu4684
      @tosu4684 7 месяцев назад

      Hi, probably i expressed it wrong. I was talking about finishing/planning the surface horizontally with the parting tool. In my expierience this results in side loads and the parting tool does not like side loads. Which could be an explanation why the surface was not perfect. Nevertheless great project.
