Nice I bought a whole new setup instead of just the bulbs. I'm tired of paying 150 for a bulb and a hr of labor. They tell you at the dealership that it's a difficult job. Liars. I have all the clip tools so this shouldn't be very difficult. Thanks for the video.
I had watched another video that gave me the impression that I had to do more than this. This one was spot on! Replaced em doing exactly how you described and worked perfectly and easily although it shouldn't even require this much effort LOL
Ok. All i needed to know about this, just wanted to install blue head lamps on my just bought GMC. Dude says the word "kinda" like in every sentence, a distraction I kinda don't need. But still, good 'how to' vid.
Glad you liked it! Please consider buying bulbs made by our lighting sponsor Sylvania - we can vouch for the SilverStar Ultra line from personal experience...here is where you can find the ones that fit your truck: www.sylvania-automotive.com/apps/vlrg-us/Vlrg/?CarCareKiosk
I must be ancient! I remember the days when you got a Phillips screw driver and removed 3 or 4 screws from the headlight ring. That was it! Then came some mental midget with a college degree in engineering. Now we disassemble the front clip to replace a bulb because they did not have the foresight to leave access to the back of the assembly.
I have a 2013 and mine had some small screws under there which I didn't know about so when I pulled it broke to pieces on bumper that screws secure to(If that makes sense?) Its all put back together and not noticeable but like an earlier person said GM should be ashamed of themselves for making it that hard to change a light. On my 02 I can just pull out a pin on each side and the lamp cover comes out. Thanks tho, very helpful video!
There's actually two other screws holding the bumper in . That one must have been removed before and they never put the screws back in because they are very hard to get in and out. They are on the side and screw bumper to fender. If you were to do this the way u showed you will crack or tear the bumper right under the headlight.
No that's wrong. The two other bolts you are referring to attach the plastic bumper clip to the fender. It is not meant to be removed. it has a couple tabs on it that the bumper clips onto for easy install/removal. This is how most all current day cars and trucks bumpers are attached now. With the same sort of plastic clip mechanism at the bumper corners. If you are bending or cracking the bumper it means you are being too gentle. Give it a good tug and it unclips. The video is exactly 100% correct. Just the two small 7mm bolts in the wheel well and then pop the bumper out.
Shoot dude, I owned a 2005 Acura TL. Just to change the bulbs, you have to remove the entire bumper and then remove the headlight assembly just to do it. This is 100x better, I agree that it's a pain, but I've been through worse. Nothing beats the 99-06 GM trucks, easiest vehicle I ever changed bulbs in lol
@fakeusa, reached with what? I couldn't get my hand in that space and do anything really on the driver side because the washer fluid tank is in the way and the wires are too short to rotate the low beam bulb without disengaging the plug which I couldn't do effectively because my hands are too large. The passenger side requires removing the air filter box and then you can change both high and low beam easily but on the driver side I had to do what this video shows.
Sylvania SilverStar Ultras are the ones that we put in our cars. They put out a great light spectrum. Full disclosure: Sylvania is a sponsor of our lighting videos, but even if they weren't, we would still recommend them. Here is the link: www.sylvaniadarkroads.com/us/?
If you're just replacing the bulb like me it is easier to remove the airbox than the front bumper imo. I was able to just lift the airbox out of the way. You do need to take off those stupid plastic pins that hold the plastic skirt on which is a PITA.
You don’t have to remove the fan shroud if you have a long extension. You also don’t have to remove the clips under the fender, don’t understand what that was all about.
This video is dead on! The trim under the light comes off fairly easy. Once the screws are out pull the trim out from the fender near the screw holes and bump it forward while holding the corner of the trim, pops right off. three 10 mm bolt for headlamp assembly and two 7mm for the trim. Took a total of 20 mins.
No there is not. Just the two small 7mm ones in the wheel well. The other two you are probably talking about attach the bumper clip to the fender. That stays on. It has tabs that hold the bumper on for easy install/removal. Most all cars/trucks are like this now days.
I have a 2008 1500 and did mine on the driver side today just as this video instructed. Pimp Twzt is correct. Removed the two 10mm at the top and the two 7mm on the bumper, pulled the bumper out and removed the other 10mm from the side and it pulled right out.
I'm with you on that. The first company to put out a 3500/350 with a tilt front end gets my business. There are other things besides the headlights that are bone deep stupid on these trucks.
Man, I wish every tutorial video on RUclips was this straightforward and short.
Thanks for your feedback - here are all the videos for your truck: www.carcarekiosk.com/videos/GMC/Sierra_2500_HD/2009?
This was absolutely the best instruction video I have found to date for my 2009 GMC Sierra. Thank you for the help.
Glad you liked it - here are all the videos for your truck: www.carcarekiosk.com/videos/GMC/Sierra_2500_HD/2009?
Pretty easy, thank you GM. Many vehicles you have to completely take off the front grill and bumper
Those cars you don't need to remove the whole headlight for just the bulb... This is a dog shit design
Excellent video! I was able to do both sides in about 30 mins. Excellent job of explaining where all the fasteners are. 👍
A really good video, always check your light connections before wrapping up everything

Thank you. Helped me greatly with a few steps I missed. Now I got new parking lights working properly on my 2014 GMC Denali HD 2500! 🙂✌️❤️
That's great - happy to help MM...thx for the feedback 🤙 Please consider subscribing as we're posting more regularly now
Thank you for this video. It saved me $ 220 labor cost by doing it myself!
Thanks for the video - worked exactly as described - took about 30 mins to replace both bezels
This video saved me a trip to the auto shop and it was too easy to follow. Thanks guys.
Our pleasure!
I needed this. I never would’ve figured that out on my own. So simple but not at all obvious
I had watched another video that gave me the impression that I had to do more than this. This one was spot on! Replaced em doing exactly how you described and worked perfectly and easily although it shouldn't even require this much effort LOL
This was a whole lot easier than fighting with the bulbs from the other side. Thanks for the video.
Perfection is always appreciated ❤
Thanks so much for this very clear video. I followed it exactly and was done in 30 minutes. Awesome!
Submariner75 bout to do mine today
Easy enough. Good simple video. Good job being plain and simple. Thank you.

This video was on spot. Great job in explaining. So easy I did it!

Excellent video! "pull and wiggle" who'd a thought?
Super helpful. Thank you!

I have a 2013 also and I need to do this, looks like a pain. I might just forget about it and let a mechanic do it.
Satan has a special place waiting for the engineers responsible I hope!
Did it this way very easy job thanks for the video 👍
This video was very helpful thank you
Great video
Thanks!
Good video! Thanks!

Good lookin out brotha one of the only times I am thankful for the comments section of youtube

The instruction was right on... Thanks
Crazy have to go through this! but great vid

This is actually easy. A lot of vehicles the grill and bumper have to be completely removed
Good video friend 👍
When I'd mine yesterday two shims fell don't know where they go
Thank you my friend
Who makes a truck & makes it this difficult to remove a bulb WTF. Shameful
Bigboy Slim this is only to remove the housing, bulbs can be reached without doing any of this.
@fakeusa, reached with what? YOU obviously don't work on vehicles.
Cuz GM vehicles suck
Thank you
Good job
How do you disconnect the wire harness?
Might be a stupid question, still an amateur in the truck scene, but are these instructions the same for the 1500 model?
not bad unless you own one where the previous owner stripped the heads on the bumper and used some type of superglue on it
Are the 2500 and 1500 headlight housings interchangeable?
Thank you it works✌😎
Compared to an 06 this is alot of work
Can you add the link to the new head lamps you bought on here or a good recommendation..

Thanks, now I have an excuse to go buy a couple more tools.

To change the head light are you serious
There’s actually 4 bolts per side on my 2008 1500.
No there is not. Just the two small 7mm ones in the wheel well. The other two you are probably talking about attach the bumper clip to the fender. That stays on. It has tabs that hold the bumper on for easy install/removal. Most all cars/trucks are like this now days.

Just loosen the bottom bolt no need to remove
Why wouldn’t you just pull the airbox for the passenger side? Way easier
Damn. Just to replace a bulb...what are these engineers smoking
Not a bulb replacement video. This is for replacing the entire housing. Bulbs are simple twist in and out.
@@rebeccabutler4818 yeah but the airbox has to come out s.d the drivers side housing has to come loose aswell.
Clear to see ENGINEERS have struck yet again😡😡😡
One thing he left off, basic rule, check lights before reassembly. Just do yourself a favor.
This is great feedback - thank you Randy...test before putting the housing back in y'all!!
This is detroits idea of a good design. It’s embarrassing to be human
What a joke a chamge a light shame on GM
You among the other posters are morons.
Yep there are worst ones out there just like my 2012 Malibu ltz that I had you had to remove the whole bumper
Unbelievable!!! You have to be a GMC tech to install your trucks fucking headlamps!! WTF is that! I'll never buy GMC again!
I'm with you on that. The first company to put out a 3500/350 with a tilt front end gets my business. There are other things besides the headlights that are bone deep stupid on these trucks.
