    The NC Miata is one of the best used driver's cars available today for young people pursuing FI/RE. Operating expenses are very low and it also makes a great daily driver which cannot be said for many of today's driver focused cars.

      I've had a S2000 and sold it to buy a NC. I think the NC is a better car, apart from the engine, but on UK roads the engine is just fine.

    I had a flatcoated retriever that LOVED my Miata!!! He would read the road and counter lean going into turns too...HONEST! I never seen a dog do that and it's funny your dog is doing the same thing! When I'd change the oil, he'd try to get under the car with me. Flatcoats only live to 9yrs old. I miss him so very much. Best Always,

    Congrats on the purchase! Would recommend you consider going for the 2.5 motor swap for some extra performance (very popular swap for the NC). The 2.5 motors can be sourced from many Ford/Mazda cars (making it easy to find + cheap) and would be a great upgrade!

    I know you’re tall, so you may appreciate the Jass Performance rear seat brackets. Should drop the rear of your seat about 3” (the drop is a little less for 09-15 NC’s), so you’ll gain a lot of head room and more thigh support. Helpful for fitting in the car with a helmet!

    I'm an old guy with a 2008 PRHT with the ''Dreaded'' automatic, but I totally enjoy it. You got one heck of a deal on your NC. The prices have gone up since since reviewers on RUclips have given the NC it's overdue praise. It may not be for the Miata hard core purists out there,but for the rest of us sports car lovers it's a great little car.

      Another great thing about the nc is age.
      Na and nb are getting old now and owning a car that's over 16 isn't as simple as owning a 8 year old.
      With older cars you move from one repair job to the next and every time you drive it something else breaks!
      You don't just own an old car you have to nurse it.

  • @boblast5582

    if you ever wanna go to a big brake it, rethink that wheel choice. But its not a required upgrade on the NC. Ohlins out of the box have too soft of a spring rate (4k) in the rear, especially for the track. Consider custom spring rates or possibly different coilovers. If you go custom spring rates all around and revalve cost can add up pretty quick to the point where it might make sense to get a more high end setup. Or you can just go to a slightly stiffer spring in the rear and keep things reasonable.

    I found your video just now by searching "NC Miata." How far are you along on your journey? I'm planning to FIRE next May. I've had an NC for 13 years, and have been tracking mine for 6 years. HPDE is kind of expensive to start, but if you have the desire to instruct, and be friggin great at it, most orgs will comp the entry fee. I've done roughly 100 track days over the last three years and haven't payed a single entry fee.
    Ohlins are great, that's what I run. I'd also advise getting PF01s instead of RPF1s. They last longer, and they'll clear any BBK. I run a StopTech C43 kit and the pads last forever, and then some.
    Best of luck!

    I’m considering one of these but had an 03 S2000 back in the day. Given you have had both, how does it compare. Would the MX5 be disappointing after the extra performance and “that engine” in the Honda?

    • @ZentRose
      @ZentRose  2 года назад +1

      If you do a few mods to tighten up the weak points on the NC you might enjoy it more than an S2000. The chassis and steering alone make the NC a more satisfying car for me to drive. I will be tuning this engine soon once the ECUtek arrives and then I can make a video on the subject!

    • @davidstorm4015
      @davidstorm4015 2 года назад +1

      I've owned both and currently have a 2010 NC. Aside from the engine, the Mazda is a better car, I much prefer it. Chassis and steering are superior and with very small tweaks you can make the NC great. Would recommend RX8 sway bars (plug & play) as a first cheap mod.
