    👀 ABOUT THIS VIDEO
    Hate those 30% commissions that Uber Eats & DoorDash slams your restaurant with? Well here's a way to put that to rest...
    One of the biggest complaints I hear from restaurant owners is the high commissions the 3rd party delivery apps like Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub charges. Afterall...restaurants are already working through razor thin margins. Those commissions just make profits slim to none.
    But the problem is that food delivery is all the rave right now - especially during the pandemic. For some - it is the only way we can make ANY money since indoor dining is closed off. So it feels as if you MUST be part of the food delivery apps to scrape by or sink to bankruptcy.
    The other option is to start your own food delivery. So create your own system online to get online orders and a fleet of delivery drivers. Problem here is that it is not possible for restaurant owners who are not tech savvy or have a big budget. Creating an app or online system is costly and requires a lot of tech knowledge. And hiring a fleet seems troublesome. So most restaurateurs end up going with the third party delivery apps since it is easier.
    That's until Zeew came along. Zeew can help restaurant owners create their own app for online ordering and have it work seemlessly for a driver to coordinate with kitchen staff to pick up and deliver the item to the customer.
    And when you do the math, creating your own food delivery operation will bring more money back to your business. Luckily, Zeew can be the option to help you get started and set up with that.
    I've partnered with Zeew to give you 50% OFF your first month on the Pro and Gold package if you use code "WKL2020". They also have a 14 Day free trial so you can test out their system.

    The basic premise of the calculation is flawed - 1 driver does not replace Delivery-fleet, especially where 60% of revenue is from deliveries. Beyond that, the aggregator funnel traffic to the business. In these times of high CAC, going independent will kill the food business much before it hires the first driver.
    This is clearly a promotional video; the least you can do is put in a disclaimer at the beginning.

      hey rahul, i 100% agree with you, and thats why i did say that having your own driver is no the best idea to begin with. only justifies when you have enough volume. this video is for all the restauranteurs who are looking for ways to take out the commission fee. regardless of promotional of the video or not, the fact still remains. great discussion though! :)

    Great video and topic.
    The cost of the driver is only for one, realistically if the restaurant is small they would at least need to two to make sure the delivery time is not too long. Furthermore, depending on the restaurants operational hours they might need two per shift. Also when the restaurant has both drivers out for deliveries it will cause orders being canceled due to restaurant being busy or longer delivery time, which most customers don't want.
    Zeew is great for creating the platform. However, finding drivers + petrol cost + maintenance cost this is where it starts adding up. Paying $7500 and having unlimited drivers and not having the liability of the car/ motorbike might be a better option.
    Great topic especially with everything going on 3rd party apps are increasing. Keep up the great content

      totally agreed. thats why i don't think a lot of ppl will need this service. only the restaurants who are doing high volume with a big roaster should. honestly, im all for going with 3rd party apps. the infrastructure and headache free is well worth it. none the less, i want to provide another perspective for our audience. glad to have your insights :)

      another problem would be the advertising that sites like uber or deliveroo can bring most people that want to get food delivered dont always know what they want so they go through the restaurants and menus on these sites if a restaurant decides to use there own delivery service they would lose out on custom unless they had some very good advertising stratergy unless they are very popular like say pizza hut who use there own in house delivery system but even they and many more big food companys now use just eat or grub hub and more because they reach so many more customers. if restaurants are not happy with the percentage they take dont use them but they do keep using them because they make alot more money through them.

    These Gig companies are not going to leave California. The main reason why small restaurant uses these apps and are forced to pay 30% of the food cost to then is the online foot traffic. You can't get that with these solutions that the guy in the video is offering. Marketing is a hard and expensive thing to do and a lot of the small restaurant c can't do it well.

    I don't see this idea being realistic for most restaraunts, so this sort of platform is most likely unsustainable. But maybe it's worth a try. Most likely the drivers would be employees and not independent contractors. Employees cost more than independent contractors because of more overhead. So if 3k a month is the estimated total cost of one driver, after all expenses and overhead would likely mean that driver would be working for peanuts with his own vehicle, and who would do that? Very high turnover on drivers. The convenience of having food delivered to your door should cost more than if you picked it up yourself. After all someone else is putting in the time and effort to deliver it and should be paid accordingly.

    • @WilsonKLee
      @WilsonKLee  3 года назад

      totally agreed. this strategy is really only for those with high volume and deep roaster. i would honestly outsource the driving team to local fleets so i don't need to worry about all the crazy things.

    • @jamaljabril123
      @jamaljabril123 3 года назад

  • @loriann8298

    But then they won't have the drivers lol they gonna deliver themselves. Do they tell you how much customers are driven to their stores just having these apps. I wasn't aware they charged for that as the restaurants gotta pay for the signage and all that if they want these 3rd party apps to add them to their platforms. Not everyone owns a car or cane even get out. How I know alot of them in ontario do not pay that is because they have their won pick up orders and do not not some of the 3rd parties picking up for customers. So not sure where this came from.

  • @nigelk288
    @nigelk288 2 года назад

    Why some restaurants do not like food deliveries and still sign up; as a driver I do not want to go into a restaurant and see you service your own customers first and let me wait more than 10 min for my order.

    By the time you pay the drivers, monthly Zeew fee, and the advertising, you are back at what you would pay Door Dash etc.. Many restaurants are good mg to pay a little bit more just to not have to mess with setting up their own system. This would be a hard sell.

    Hi Wilson. First of all, thanks for the channel. It's VERY hard to come up with well organized technical information. I've worked in some places before 2012, had a restaurant for 5 years (2012-2016) and now, I'm in charcuterie business since 2016, so my whole life is in the kitchen hahaha.
    Anyway, I'm curious about the $3k for the delivery driver. This include gas, and hidden fees, or it's just the salary?
    Thanks again, and sorry for the bad English.

    • @WilsonKLee

    If I'm doing in-house delivery for Uber Eats orders, can I set multiple delivery fees? It's unfair for someone down the block to pay $4.99 vs someone 5km away who pays the same delivery fee.
    I currently have 2-3 volunteers who spend their 5 hours on weekends driving for me in exchange for freebies from my restaurant. 😂 Good friends for sure.

  • @dirkdiggler9482

    Fine, Zeew helps save money getting your product to your customers, but how do you get their attention in the first place? Zeew doesn't advertise your product, do they? There's a reason why restaurant owners are willing to cut Door Dash and the like a good chunk of the action, and that's because they get their products advertised on those platforms better than they can anywhere else. Does Zeew really compete on that level, or are you suggesting that this service could be used by restaurants who are already well established, and can afford to walk away from services like that?

    • @WilsonKLee
      @WilsonKLee  3 года назад +1

      There's no magic pill sadly. That's correct you'd be in charge of getting the customers if you use your own platform. Yes you're basically paying to be on DoorDash or Uber Eats' marketplace when you are giving them commission. The bigger problem that could arise (and now being seen more often) is the saturation of their marketplaces. Now there are algorithms in place on their marketplace where you have to figure out so you can be shown to potential customers. Or you fork over more money to advertise on there. It will just mean that the smaller restaurants will get buried on those marketplaces as the chains (the Starbucks, McDonald's, etc.) put marketing dollars into Uber Eats or DoorDash. And depending on your style of business, owning and having control of your customer journey (full data + quality assurance) is something that is important to consider.
