5 Ukulele Fingerpicking Patterns You Need to Learn
So here are my 5 pretty easy/beginner to intermediate level ukulele fingerpicking/ fingerstyle patterns you need to learn.

Another way you can help support the channel is by purchasing something with one of these recommended Amazon affiliate links where I make a small percent of the purchase. These aren't random, they're all ukulele accessories I have tried and HIGHLY recommend.
To get and stay in tune, a clip-on tuner is a huge help: amzn.to/3vA3TBr
As far as string recommendations, there are a LOT of factors...but here's my quick and dirty recommendation that works a lot more often than not (and is what I personally use on my ukes):
If it's an entry level laminate wood ukulele, a set of Aquila nylguts will sound great:
For a soprano: amzn.to/3zTe7zm
For a concert: amzn.to/3Sp6EiT
For a tenor: amzn.to/3Sl1swm
If it's a higher end solid wood uke, Martin fluorocarbons will sound amazing:
For a soprano or concert: amzn.to/3PXT8AW
For a tenor: amzn.to/3BCumlv
This is a very high quality ukulele capo and the one I use: amzn.to/3Smlqqx
When changing strings, one of these string winder/cutters help make the job a lot easier:

Ukulele learning resources:
Ukulele for Dummies (great book PACKED with excellent instructions and songs to learn):

Ukulele Aerobics (more of an intermediate level and above book, but the exercises are second to none):

Recommended ukuleles for beginners:
Enya Nova U concert size: amzn.to/3vx2oDR
Kala Satin Mahogany concert size: amzn.to/3bsZbP6
Aklot Mahogany Concert: amzn.to/3Qf2o3n
This is a beautiful and solidly constructed wall hanger for putting your uke on display:

If you live in a place that consistently gets drier than 40% humidity and you have a nice solid wood uke, you might want to use a humidifier. These are the two best I've tried:

Thanks for the tutorial. Many thanks 😊
yay, thanks for this. 😊👍 I need to practice finger picking.
Of course! Let me know how it goes playing them!
I love this! I just started playing, and haven't been able to start lessons because of covid, so this is a nice clip to learn a few basic skills. Thank you!
Noeki de Nie Thanks so much for the nice feedback! I’m glad you’re getting something out of this video. Let me know how practicing these patterns go and if you have any questions or lesson requests let me know! 😊
I prefer to always let my thumb take care of the G and C strings, whatever the pattern.😀🌷
If it works, that's great! There are different way to play each pattern and the important part is finding what sounds good and works for you :)
Youre awesome! I just started playing and im glad i found your page on reddit!!
Thank you so much for that, Sean! I really appreciate that. I’m new to making videos and the fact that people are getting some help from them makes me so happy 😁 See you around! 🤙
I like This!🎶 ; )
Smitty, you haven’t given time signatures - 3/4 time or 4/4 time etc, also, you made Travis patterns have regular timing, but surely it should be “ one, two, and three and four”- or even “four and” on the end - whole and half notes ???🌷
Hello, which time signature would these finger picking patterns be for, 3/4 or 4/4 time? Thank you.
All of these are demonstrated in 4/4 time. But sometimes it’s possible to use the same pattern and alter the timing on it for other time signatures, if that makes sense. Thanks for the question 😊
Thanks for sharing! Very helpful since I'm starting. One question; is it better/easier to have some nails on the fingerpicking hand? Or just sounds different?
Thanks for the comment, David! Many good players definitely grow out nails on the picking hand (especially the thumb) and then use them as a sort of pick. I’ve never been able to do it bc it feels really strange for me to have long nails. So what I do sometimes is use a thumb pick to get that fast picking sound (but am still able to strum softly with my other fingers). I would encourage you to experiment with both and see what you prefer!
