I LOVE THIS GUY!! He's teaching how to play the ukulele in a way that nobody else is doing and as a musician who grew up studying classical piano, all the way into college and having sung in multiple audition ensembles, I LOVE AND APPRECIATE his style. I could sit and listen to him talk all day too. LOL. He's easy to follow, easy to listen to, and easy to follow... especially if you know music already. Oh man. I hope this guy's channel takes off because he is seriously underestimated at the moment...
Agree. While I appreciate each creator of ukulele content there are so many, and each has their strength but I really appreciate him. We have to find who best meets our learning style and Marco is great for me. The only thing to improve would be to have screenshots of chords and patterns and such.
Thank you Marco, I’ve gone from practicing pop songs on the ukulele to being in love with the more classical sounds you are teaching us. You are a gifted teacher. Greetings from Tasmania & a big love for Italia!
To anyone watching who thinks they can't do this: YOU CAN! I was super scared of trying Travis picking, and after a few days of just slowly picking my way through the pattern I can pull it out and modify it to fit a lot of songs! You got this!
~Thank you so much for helping us to learn the beautiful uku. Plz take you time when showing this old gal...I want to play like you...simply wonderful.
thank you for your lovely generosity-- you are a truly gifted teacher. And funny and energetic. You get to the point and you say why. Extremely helpful and inspiring.
Yes, please, it's wonderful, I'm learning while on quarantine/ cinquentine. We are in coviid 19 for the long whole so we might as well be more productive. Thank you for sharing.
My problem with a picking pattern is I get bored with the same pattern throughout the entire song. Much like playing the same three cords throughout a song. However, I see the advantage of using a pattern within a fingerpicking song, but not the same pattern all through the song. Thanks for your lessons. I learn a lot from your videos.
I just started learning the Ukulele. These seem super challenging but I love the fingerpicking style. Once I learn a bit more I will def start tackling these for practice. Thank you
Looking forward to buying my first ukulele soon. I started learning fingerpicking playing on guitar before strumming or flat picking so these exercises are just right for me :) i can’t wait to learn a lot from you
@@MarcoCirilloUkulele I already learned three fingerstyle progressions from your lessons, and I’m currently working on scales :) I love the uke and I can’t wait to learn more!
Marco, Is there a reason for changing the fingers position for the Travis Pattern? Why not using the thumb for string 4, index for 3, middle for 2 and ring for 1 like the other patterns? Thanks!
What is the chord you are playing. In the Travis Picking progression. It's the two middle strings in the second fret. You used it earlier in the video as well. Is there a chord that is the two middle strings of the second fret? Sounds amazing. Would love to know it.
Great video. Thanks for the tutorials. Your playing is always so beautiful. Could you do a video of some simple chord progressions, besides the typical C, G, F, Am? As a semi-beginner, I'm nearly sick of that one, and I need some new ones to practice. Thanks!
Maybe just take a look to all the chords and try out to play? Maybe check out some music theory to find out which chords fits together. Is a thing, you just need to understand one time, it is always the same in minor and major.
Great suggestion, Angela. I will definitely work on a video like that. Also, check my other videos to see if you can find a chord progression that you enjoy.
Hi, Angela! I enjoy using chord progressions from songs I love when toying with patterns. Here's a few pretty ones using easy chords: Dm (or Dm7), G7, C, C Am, Cmaj7, F, E7 Em, G, D, A F, Fm, C, A7, D7 (easy version, not the barre), G7, C (throw in a C7 next if you want to repeat the sequence, and end on the C whenever you want) Am, Cmaj7, Fmaj7 (easy version: just fret G and C strings at the fifth fret using your middle and ring fingers), G6 If you're up for one common barre chord: Em, Bm (with the P, I, M, A, M, I triplet pattern you have Fallin' by Alicia Keys) Em, Bm, Am, C (For this fret Am with your index finger. Then fret C with the middle finger on the third fret of the A string and the index finger on the second fret of the same string, it makes the transition back to Em easier) Hope you enjoy, and happy ukeing!
Dear Mario, why do i need the Travis Picking. I don’t understand the advantage in comparison to play each string with one finger ... makes the usage of the thumb on the second string such a big difference sound wise?
Travis picking is interesting when used whilst accompanying some songs. Bob Dylan’s “Don’t think twice it’s alright “, is the one that springs to y mind. It’s also a good brain to finger exercise 🤣🤣
Hi Klaus, I think the main reason is rhythm and grove. Playing with the thumb on two different strings gives you another type of groove, which is the main feature of the Travis picking ...
Marco what effect do you use to record your playing . . . .it sounds awesome (it is more than just reverb). Please let us know, it is very beautiful, thank you in advance.
Thank you for this. I think I need this lesson since I've been following some tabs and fingerpicking songs from tutorials. (Which is mostly for beginners) ☺️
I love your videos. But one thing! PIMA comes from Spanish classical guitar, not Italian. PIMA stand for the Spanish words P = pulgar (thumb) I = indice (index finger) M = medio (middle finger) A = anular (ring finger)

It would be better if you didnt press any chords while showing the pattern. So that people can just focus and follow the plucking and we know we're doing it right.
I mean like if you're teaching you need to show which finger goes where right? It's just such a frustrating video for a begginer. You can't even make out what finger is playing what string. If you're teaching you need to teach like the person watching doesn't even know basics else what's the point
If it's Pima it means that you pluck with thumb index middle and ring. That's the pattern. Then I teach you the ima, which is index middle and ring. It's written on screen so I don't understand how can you say you can't make out what finger is playing what string ... Pima ... thumb index middle and ring ... these are the fingers on 4 3 2 1. Anyway I will try to make even more clear next time.
