    This literally blew my mind. I've been a Christian since I was a little girl. And I've always been madly in love with Jesus. But I have never heard this take before. I've heard many beautiful, deep things about the Lord but this one is definitely in my top 5 of all time. There's so much to unpack in every sentence. So I'll just end here... More believers need to realize the significance of the Galilean wedding traditions. Especially in comparison to how Jesus described His return for His bridegroom. God is so unbelievably intricate.

Then I watched “After the Wrath” tonight, which confirmed everything in my mind. Made me want to go back and find this video again.... and come to find out, this pastor is interviewed in the movie! I had this dream about a year or so ago that I can't forget. I was getting married to someone who had been chosen for me by a company that matches and marries people. I was there with a friend who was using the service. They couldn't find a groom for her but they approached me with an offer. I agreed to go through with it even though I was unsure. On the way to the ceremony I realized no one I knew was going to be at the wedding. The only job I had was to send out the invitations and I was too late. I had to get married amongst strangers because I hadn't invited anyone. I have since told people... Sadly those I want to be there most don't believe or want to hear about it. I thought it was my fault I had to get married without anyone I love around, but maybe the dream was asking if I would be willing to go through with it without them. I was not going to miss my own day. I was sad no one was there though.

    Perhaps the gift from the groom to the bride was when he sent the spirit to us before he left! And also in the garden when he rose and told Mary not to touch him because he had not yet ascended to the Father...like when you said he comes to get the bride but they cannot touch yet? This was amazing and I really appreciate it! Thank you!

    • @jay.mccarl

      Hello StephyLynn-in fact you're right. Paul said in Ephesians 4:30, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption..." In context (Ch. 4, Christian relationships; Ch 5, the bride-groom metaphor) the Greek word for sealed implied to the reader (largely Jews) a gift that was given from the groom to the bride as a guarantee of his coming for her on the wedding day-it 'sealed' the arrangement. Good catch. Blessings. -j

    This description of betroth and arranged wedding is VERY similar to our Chinese culture. We still have arranged marriages but they get introduced to and have some time to get to know each other and to see if they liked each other these days. But still many "arranged" marriages. Statistics show that these marriages last much better than those who choose freely. The ones who married freely often ended up getting divorced after 6 months or a year. I suppose the parents are more experienced than ourselves, instead of us going after "feelings" which can be very unreliable because don't really know that person's character.

You know like when a fig tree gets his first leaf you can calculate somewhat when it will produce figs... :-) And if I am correct, after the harvest when men would have plenty of time (autumn) that is when weddings were held so the whole town could join.

      I too was interested in your sources for the details of the wedding tradition so I read the document you posted. However I was quite disappointed that you don’t cite any specific sources. You even say “there isn’t much historical information out there” and then seemly admit that you put on “new glasses” and began to discover the details of the wedding tradition in the Old and New Testament. That would be a surprise to many people. At the end of your document there is a bibliography of 70+ books or articles but you don’t provide any direct connection between any of those documents and the details of the wedding tradition. As a Christian I would gladly embrace your hypothesis as an important context for biblical interpretation if there is compelling evidence that it is correct, but so far I have not seen the evidence. If you have it, please post it. With the release of the movie “Before the Wrath” many people are adopting this as fact and it is having an influence on their understanding of the end times. That’s good if it is true, but very bad if it is not. You owe it to your followers to clearly describe the historical evidence on which you base your details.

      No, there's a big difference! The Wedding will take place in heaven. Here on earth, the wedding feast takes place for 7 days. However, the Wedding Feast between the Bride of Christ and Jesus lasts for 7 years! That's no coincidence! That's the length of the Great Tribulation. God's wrath is poured out on all unbelievers during the Trib, and the church will not be under that wrath! We do get to escape! Just like Enoch and Elijah!

I finally, went back and read what the early fathers wrote about what they taught the church. Some of the early fathers knew and were taught by John. They all taught and agreed on a pre-tribulation rapture. I hope, you find this helpful.

    • @jay.mccarl
      @jay.mccarl  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Daryl-here is a link to Q & A's concerning a Galilean wedding: jaymccarl.com/galilean-wedding-faqs/ Jesus was Galilean, the twelve were Galileans, approximately 70% of His recorded or referenced teachings were done in Galilee, which means the ‘multitudes’ to whom He ministered were mostly Galileans. Moreover, native Galileans, including the Pharisee sect, were an enclave of very conservative Hebraic thought and customs in rebellion against the expanding Hellenization of Roman Judea. In this sense, Galileans were painfully sensitive to non-Hebraic, liberalized Judaic customs. Jesus’ rebuke of the more extremist Pharisees for wrapping their cloaks tightly about themselves as to not touch a gentile, unclean Jew or unkosher object speaks of the exclusivity of the Galileans and their culture. Since Jesus spent the bulk of His time speaking to Galileans-and, as indicated by their reaction to His teachings-He spoke in a manner using parables and metaphors they would understand, even if many did not embrace what He said. Regarding Jerusalem, which is almost 80 miles (in a straight line) from Capernaum, it's not an issue concerning wedding traditions, per se. There were variations on all kinds of traditions spanning the Levant (different tribes, clans, ethnicities, dialects, sects, etc.), but similar and overlapping traditional elements were common throughout the region, even to this day. Blessings.

    Judas Iscariot was not Galilean, hence his name, and the bible gives us many examples of Jesus having to explain lessons, parables, the correct meaning of the law amoungst other things to them....

    • @jay.mccarl
      @jay.mccarl  Год назад +2

      There are actually many differing views, but the conclusion of most scholars remains uncertain about his region of origin. For instance:
      IVP Bible Backgrounds Commentary: “Iscariot” may mean “man from Kerioth,” but this is unclear; other proposals (e.g., a Greek transliteration of an Aramaic corruption of the Latin sicarius, “assassin”; see comment on Ac 21:38) are equally uncertain."
      Zondervan Bible Background Commentary: "Judas Iscariot (Mark 3:19). The name may mean “man of Kerioth.” Textual variants found in John 6:71;12:4;13:2;and 14:22 add apo Karyomtou (from Kariot), which represent an early explanation for the term’s meaning. Kerioth could be a town in Moab (Jer. 48:24;Amos 2:2) or a town in southern Judea (Josh. 15:25). If this reading is correct, Judas would have been in the minority as a Judean among Jesus’ Galilean disciples. Other less likely suggestions contend that the name refers to his membership in a group of assassins (“dagger man,” sicarius) or a clan (“man of Issachar”), his deceit (“the false one”), his betrayal (“the one handing over”), his origin (“man from the city”), or his ruddy complexion." [Zondervan,. Matthew, Mark, Luke: Volume One (Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary Book 1) (p. 593). Zondervan Academic. Kindle Edition.]
      David Stern (The Jewish New Testament Commentary) states: Y’hudah from K’riot is known to English-speakers as Judas Iscariot. “Iscariot” is probably not a surname but a rendering into Greek of Hebrew ish-K˒riot, “a man of K’riot,” a town some twenty miles south of Jerusalem. [Stern, D. H. (1996). Jewish New Testament Commentary : a companion volume to the Jewish New Testament (electronic ed., Mt 10:2). Jewish New Testament Publications].
      (Stern's conclusion, however, doesn’t take into account Judas’ overall acceptance by the Galilean population among whom he ministered and who were generally suspicious of non-Galileans.)
      My point was simply that if Judas wasn’t a Galilean, he acted like one, was accepted by Galileans as one of them, and was never marginalized as being an outsider by the other disciples (quite the opposite). He may have originated in K'riot (location uncertain-at least three possibilities) but also may have relocated to Galilee at some point-much like Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem into a Galilean-Judean family (Aunt Elizabeth in Judea, et. al.), moved for a couple years to Egypt, and grew up in Nazareth, Galilee. As far as the Biblical record is concerned, to the Galileans, he was a perfect fit.

      @@jay.mccarl Thanks for enlightening me with knowledge about surnames I didn't know some of what you mentioned. Though I am of the belief that regardless of the possible location of that town, the most likely conclusion is that he was from one of the probable towns. The possible negative implications to his surname in my humble opinion are far less likely, though intriguing secondary to his outcome, chosen endeavor. Thank you for the work you do. I love the mention of the Wedding Veil. Are we not resembling a Galilean Bride behind our Covid masks???? Also most folks gloss over this, but you mentioned TWO beings responding to the return of the Groom... The Spirit and the Bride say "Come" Revelation 22:17. The Holy Spirit has been left here with us since Pentecost, but Jesus gave it up on the cross just to leave it here (the Restrainer/Comforter). He has to bring up 2 beings when He comes.

    JesusChrist did not try to connect with the people through His sayings so they could understand
    Mark 4:10-12 KJV
    [10] And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. [11] And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: [12] That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
    Psalm 78:2 KJV
    [2] I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
    Matthew 13:34-35 KJV
    [34] All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: [35] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

      If the throne of God wasn’t and actual PLACE why would Jesus tell us He goes to prepare a place and it’s a place with many mansions? If it’s just in ur brain He woulda said so. Other religions say this stuff to keep us away from the simplicity of it. It’s a place and we will actually GO there🥰

      Friend, you have this all backwards. The specifics of the wedding ceremony was given to them BY God. Men did NOT invent them. It was all a foreshadowing the coming
      “union” between Jesus and His believers. It was to teach us exactly what is taught throughout the Bible. Every pastor teaches this. I cannot imagine to whom you have been listening to if indeed you have not been taught this traditional Biblical lesson. Are you New Age? The mental aspect you mentioned sounds exactly like New Age, from which I greatly escaped, 18 years ago! This MOST DEFINITELY not extra Biblical but precisely Biblically! Maranatha!

    This is pure nonsense. Jesus is coming back ONCE. It will be at the time He told us, which is clear in the scriptures. Prepare yourself brothers and sisters. We will go through tribulation, but it will be the most amazing sign of faith we have ever demonstrated. It will be our shining moment and our time to truly share our faith with those who will persish. Escaping tribulation by flying away is not Biblical. Ask all the apostles. Stop with this nonsense.

      @@garygloska7396 Uhhh.....I am sure I have studied it far more than you. You see, this false teaching started in the 1830's by Darby. Nowadays, at many churches it is taught, but you have to really strain to make it work. If you just read the scriptures plainly, in many places, then they tell you when Christ will return and we will be caught up in the sky to meet Him. And, by the way, we will not experience God's wrath. We will experience tribulation just at is says in the Bible. Open your eyes and don't be deceived any longer, so you will be ready for the times to come.
