Note - In the video we stated that Crouser's weight was "200 kg" - and while the man is certainly jacked, he's closer to 140kg. Thanks for the understanding
Ryan Crouser is the goat.

"Arguably the greatest shot-putter of all time." I'd like to hear the argument for anyone else! He's insane.
Crouser’s consistency really shows just how much he means business. Crazy
I was under the impression that a world record makes you the greatest of all time by definition
@@markcaporale2559 I’d argue there’s a case for considering Alekna as being greater than Schult in the discus, otherwise generally agree.
@@markcaporale2559 WR + Multiple Golds over multiple WCs/Olympics makes you the 🐐
I don't think it's arguable 😂
Crazy to think that a few years ago, no one had ever gone over 76 feet and now Crouser is already over 77 feet. The dominance is incredible but the fact that he is still improving so rapidly is just remarkable.
This happens a lot in world records. Usually they are beaten by a good margin.

He's got plenty of career ahead of him but at this rate, he could go down as not just the greatest shot putter of all time but one of the greatest track and field athletes of all time. He isn't just beating his competition, he is thoroughly dominating them.
Exactly! When you look at top 13 distances and he owns 70% of them. Better than Bolt for example.
@@monsterbaby6962 The men who will eclipse him are waiting in the wings.
@@vernonfrance2974 Who are they? Of course, more great throwers will come, I just couldn't guess who right now based on what we're actually seeing in the younger ranks. Maybe you could take a punt on the likes of Jackson Cantwell but that's years and years away. There's another young American but I can't recall his name right now, sadly.
He laid an egg at 2017 Worlds, got pipped in 2019 Worlds and pipped again at the Indoor Worlds 2022. He is dominant but not all-conquering. Kovacs won the Diamond League final in 2022 for example and was close to beating him in the 2022 Worlds. I think if Crouser was to go down as one of the greatest track and field athletes, he'd need to win 2023 Worlds, 2024 Olympics, and see what his talent for the discus truly is, because as a very young man he was an exceptional discus thrower.
You forgot to mention that in that post interview, he said that he's changed his motion as well, and is still trying to get the timing down so he's not reverting back to his old form. He's not full-speed at training, while still perfecting his new technique, and he blew past his old record by 7 inches, and hit the back wall on one bounce. He's insane.
I love seeing someone “solve” their sport.
The likes of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Adam Peaty, Wayne Gretzky, and Ryan Crouser demonstrating a knack and an elevation it’s difficult to imagine improving upon.
Duplantis comes to mind as well..
@MrLuis85698 You could say at least 30 others. These were just examples
@@ccbgaming6994 agree but I will have a hard time naming 30
I’ll add Serena Williams to the list!
That’s the perfect way of putting it! 🙂
Was watching Live, amazing throw. He just knew he had it💯
I have so much respect for Ryan Crouser. The guy is just an absolute beast, and I cannot wait to see what he does for the rest of the season.
We really need a video on the high school distance running scene right now. The 5k record on the track has been broken twice this season.
In addition to being out of this world good at shot put, he's an amazingly humble giant, willing to spend as much time with fans as they want. Watching him slowly wade through the crowd after Millrose Games, taking pictures with every single person who asked was a sight to behold.
And his RUclips channel is so humble. He just breaks stuff down, gives away all the knowledge, no spin, amazing
I still hold my high school shot put record from 1970. Respect to Ryan the greatest shot putter of all time!
3:25 Ryan definitely does not weigh 205kg 😂
yeah he's closer to 150 or around 330 pounds 😂 not near 450
The Amazing Thing is we know this Young Man Still Has not Reached his Peak !! An 80ft. Shot Put Heave Could Easily be on the Horizon !! Crouser is methodically becoming the Bob Beamon of The Shot Put !! He's just on another Level !!!....
Ryan Crouser is so incredibly humble too. After the meet he took the time to take pictures and give out signatures outside the stadium while no other athletes did
I went to school with Ryan's uncle...Brian Crouser. Remarkable Field athlete as well. It was an honor to watch him dominate the competition. America's first throwing family! They should all be honored! Keep going Ryan! You make America proud!
At 3:25 your graphic said he weighs 205 kg. He's a big dude but he's not Hafthor Bjornsson! He's more like 145 kg.
Even I was thinking the same. His Wikipedia stats say 145 Kg. I remember even during 2016 or 2017 Wiki stated 145Kg but he was lighter than he is today. I guess he might be in the 160-170 Kg range now.
Excellent video! Wow! The NFL must be drooling!
Your videos are amazing and this is sick that you also share some throwing videos 🤝🤝
You need to see the shots of the Shot put landing. It genuinely looked like he was gonna hit the wall at the edge of the pit!
Marvelous World Record from a Marvelous athlete!
He’s been my favorite part of ‘……and Field’ for years now. He’s so amazing to watch compete because he makes shot put look fun. Shot put! Count me in on his band wagon
if you look at the all-time top 25 throws for shotput, Crouser has 13 of em 🔥🔥🔥
What an incredible athlete
I was at the meet and his performance was incredible. Almost through it out the pit.
⭐Next time you spot a Chinese spy balloon, don't send out the fighter jets just have Ryan throw a shot-put and knock it out of the air⭐
Sounds like Ryan Crouser doing Ryan Crouser things to me
He's a machine! Congratulations young man!
Phenom
The only thing that could stop him is injury.
Let's all hope he stays fit.
We need to see what he is fully capable of.
Unquestionably the GOAT. The man is an absolute beast!
Perfect combination of size, speed and power!! Dear God!! Respepct from Finland!! ❤❤❤
Amazing combination of power, balance and speed. He makes throwing a 16 pound shotput look like a baseball

Absolutely amazing.
The truly amazing part about him is that he already held the WR and then came up with this new footwork method that will forever change the sport going forward. Like he said, this is the first time he has been able to hit the timing properly in a competition.
Ryan Crouser is the best thing our mutual hometown of Gresham, Oregon ever produced.
You know your the greatest in your discipline when your competitors are like okay so were all fighting for second.
Fire 🔥
He is the indisputable GOAT! It’s a combination of immense strength, precision, coordination and speed. It’s like combining a Mr. Universe’s body, with the brains of a chess grand master, the speed of a badminton racket head and the precision of movements of a ballet dancer.
I was there live today!! What an insane performance
Loved the video but I was really hoping for a breakdown of his new technique, they talked about it in his interview but it’s hard for me to notice the difference, it’s all so fast 😅
I kinda feel bad for Kovacs and Walsh. They’re both so much better than anyone in the world not named Crouser.
The Goat of the shot put
He is such a beast! I am so amazed at what he is doing meet after meet. Absolutely incredible
Oregon is proud of it's native son!!
gawd damn he has good form
When Ryan Crouser retires shot put he can go on to be a powerlifter and or world strongest man at a world-class level.
These 2 guys are putting up amazing performances, a;most like the enhance each other! LOL
The Michael Jordan of Shot Put!
Or Larry Bird of the Shot Put....Or Michael Phelps of the Shot Put. And Now Nikola Jokic of the Shot Put. And in the 70's...The Dan Gable of the Shot Put.
Or the Cale Sanderson of the shot put....Cale told Michael Jordan to hold his beer.
He is still young enough to be 2-5 years away from his peak physical strength. 24m is not out of the realm of possibility…on another note because the mechanics of this throw are in the neighborhood of disc the what ifs start creeping in even though he has thrown it in competition in years
He stated last year that he may throw the discus competitively after the Paris Olympics. That is an interesting proposition.😀
@@wonDER1973 serious?! I hope he does even if he decides to drop Shot Put for it….although how amazing would it be to see that double and be competitive like most higher schoolers do
I’d like to see him throw 24 meters just to mess with the guys from Wired who do the “Why it’s almost to run/jump/throw” series. They’ve already said 24 meters was nearly impossible. Guess they’d have to move to 25…😁
Throwers are like distance runners-They can keep up at a peak level for a long time. 🙂
@@grahamstrouse1165 I saw those. Clearly none of those reporters ever tried hard in gym class if they had it. Sure the athleticism of humanity is limited but it’s the athlete’s job to find it and push beyond it
I've been watching the Road To Track Town videos and now I'm LMAO because in one of his featured videos he clearly says he's still training with an eye toward peaking in July and August. This was basically some light practice for him, I guess? LOL! BTW - if he's not the greatest shot putter ever then I guess Jan Zelezny isn't the greatest javelin thrower either. 😁
You should cover some multis as well please man
Thanks utube I love my track this man is a bad man glad to see this
“I am honestly….speechless.” Proceeds to speak.
You should check out Cordell Tinch… he is a freak athlete and just ran the fastest 110 hurdles in collegiate history. He also jumped almost 27 ft in long jump
Edit: he also just soared over 2.21 in high jump… all of this in 3 days
Decathlon!
He did a video on Tinch a few weeks ago
He also ran 12.87 with a +6.0 Tailwind lol.
@@MaxHumphreysMaxHumphreysusually higher winds makes it harder to hurdle, unlike the straight 100
@@richardharbols1591 not always. Some hurdlers can use a big tailwind really well and run something super fast.

his speed on the circle his mindblowing!!!!!!!!!!!!
I find it amazing that someone can take something as heavy as a bowling ball and chuck it over my backyard.
Armando Duplantis is surely another athlete at the moment who cannot be beaten unless injured 😅
Who is also the G.O.A.T. of pole vaulting !
absolute beast of an athlete. wow
Crouser is an absolute monster; I've been following his exploits for awhile. It's unfortunate that the shot put isn't a "glamorous" track and field event because what he is doing is the stuff of legends.
Unbelievable!
Destroyed his own 23.37m WR🔥and also threw an incredible 23.23m & 23.31m in the 1st two rounds;
23.23m
23.31m
22.94m
23.56m (WR)
22.80m
22.86m
Best series by any man in Shot Put history!
Beast!!
This guy might be the best athlete in the world at his sport. A monster among monsters
Starts out by saying he's honestly speechless, then speaks for nearly five minutes... 😆
Awesome
Another remarkable thing about that series: Crouser's SHORTEST throw in the series was 22.80. Only six guys, not including Crouser, have thrown farther than that! If he's underrated, it's because track and field is not so popular in the USA. It was sad to see how few people attended that meet (at my alma mater, no less).
Amazing
Imagine his punch power!
Sick mullet
Talk about more highschool stuff, the connor burns simeon burnmaum/lex leo rivalry is worth a video rn
T R P !!!!!
Crazy dominance.. kinda like Edwin Moses in the low hurdles years ago.
Al Oerter won four consecutive Olympics throwing the discus setting a world record each time. By 1979, he had thrown the discus 219 feet, 10 inches - more than 7 feet further than his winning toss in Mexico City. And in May of the following year, at the age of 43, he uncorked a toss of 227 feet, 11 inches - the longest of his career. However, the USA pulled out of the Olympics in protest over the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan, something the US would do over two decades later.
"Arguably the greatest field athlete of all time." I'd like to hear the argument for anyone else!
Where tf did you get your quote? Nobody ever said that. He said shotputter kiddo
@@q12aw50 I raised the ante to "best field athlete" and a challenge for someone to show why this shot putter deserves that title more than the discus thrower.
I realize Oerter wasn't a shot putter but I am putting him forth as the greatest FIELD athlete although there are other candidates as well.
It's similar to Best in Group at a dog show. For example, in the Herding Group saying the Best in Breed German Shepherd 🐕🦺is better than the Best in Breed Belgian Tervuren 🐈. It is quite subjective because we're comparing apples and oranges, and a career of 16 plus years with a flash in the pan.
Four gold medals and four world records. Unbelievable.
@@vernonfrance2974 no what you did was create an invisible wall that you can yell at. People only hear what they don’t wanna hear so they can turn around and start arguing.
@@q12aw50 I am merely comparing the shot putter with another great Field athlete who rose to world wide attention at the age of 16 in 1956 when he won his first Olympic Gold Medal. I was 11 at the time and, of course, it made a deep impression on my mind.
I feel the discus champion's achievements still deserve recognition and admiration.
When the poster @dcnol wrote:
"Arguably the greatest shot put athlete of all time. I'd like to hear the argument for anyone else!" he not ONCE but TWICE invited an argument over his opinion.
Since I cannot argue about the shot putter in question, I opened up the conversation to discuss arguably the best FIELD athlete of all time.
I did so with respect to the shot putter but I merely pointed out that the only Track & Field athlete to ever win four consecutive Olympic Golds in the same event was Al Oerter, the discus champion who set a new world record each time he won gold over that 16 year period. Each time, when Oerter continued to win a gold medal, it was an even more amazing achievement.
6'7 300lbs. This man is built like a tank.
Ryan Crouser is like Ajax... without the mythology.
went to HS with this beast lol. Go Bruins!
A true phenom. Equal to Usain Bolt in greatnes.
this man is a beast!
What's the score for Ryan's new record under the world athletics point scoring system? I want to know how this new record compares to the best performing athletes in other fields right now.
1334. Not that the points system is particularly useful or representative of fair equivalents. It's an attempt but not a definitive one. Obviously though, it gives a decent general picture, other than some weird general discrepancy which is difficult to explain away between male and female equivalents.
And, did you mention, that he innovated and changed his motion? He's improving generally accepted notions and reaping recird rewards.
chucks that thing like its a golf ball
That series was insane
Yess
He didn't just bested Randy Barnes out of existence, averaging his 30 year old lasting record is a major flex, it's like taking a piss on the memory of that previous record.
He's 2 inches taller than Usain Bolt and solid muscle?😮 That's scary! 😮
He just threw 23,51 during WCH in Budapest in the last round, this man is UNBELIEVABLE.
that dude rolled an 18 str, 16 dex, and 18 con when he was rolling up his character
I doubt that Ryan Crouser weighs 205kg, he’s probably more like 150-160kg
You would be right. 🙂 Ryan usually competes at around 140 kilos, give or take.
“Underrated “ he’s the GOAT❤😂😂
They are going to need to expand the shot putting area soon. He’ll be throwing it into the grass.
It's the mulet haircut. It makes you stronger.
hes also changing up his technique by adding more movement to his wind. Something that he hasn't even mastered yet. Once he gets that down i expect he will push 24 meters and everyone else will try to copy his new technique. Insane
I'd like to see what he could do as an OT in the NFL, with that size, power and footwork.
100 thousand golden throw baby!!!
You should do a video on the whole Nick Ponzio situation
🤯
You need to correct info at 3:26 he does not weigh 205kg 😂😂 that's two and the half grown adult males lol. He weighs 145kg.
Ryan is a different breed...
I wonder if a weighted free hand would allow more speed in the shot put hand? To counter balance. E.g. a weight wrist strap.
Great video. This guy’s average is kinda hard to display without insulting 2nd.
A few things - First, this is absolutely terrific. Second, the landing areas for shot need to be extended...I mentioned this during the last World Championships in Oregon. Lastly, this could be controversial - watching Ryan's left foot on his first turn you will notice that his heel is outside the back of the ring. I am only a distance runner, so no expert in weight events. I do suspect that they got this technique approved, but it still seems odd, especially if he may or may not ground his foot on the ring or slightly outside.
As long as his foot doesn't touch the lip of the ring, it is allowable. But wow, he gets every last millimeter out of the diameter of the shot put ring.
This record will hold a long while. He's a legend!
It won't last three months. But he'll be the one to break it.
