Okay then. Don't mind the look of this 4x4 at all. A 2.4 with more everything makes me wonder if the motor will be okay in the long run. Smaller donks seem the trend though, with even Toyota's new Landcruiser going down that track. Looking forward to the full review in 2024. The new Triton has certainly caught my attention. I've just subscribed.
👍 I drive the MQ and love the car and the engine 4N15, does this car have the same engine with an additional turbo or a completely new engine? It would have been nice to put AC vents in the console for the kids in the back, my kids always complaining that it is too hot and not enough AC coming from the front, I don't think the roof fan is going to satisfactory. Would I buy one? YES I would.
In my country, both toyota hilux conquest (rogue) and ford ranger wildtrak still using rear drum brakes this 2023. Drum brakes are also preferred if you are carrying a load at the back so i personally don't really mind as that's the purpose of these vehicles
Every Thai produced 4wd pick-up comes with rear drum brakes - even Hilux GR and Navara Pro4-X. If You want mid size truck with rear discs, you're looking at wrong market.
@@Kierdziol Let's start with VW Amarok, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux Rogue, Toyota Hilux GR sport as sold in Australia, then let's move on to every 1 ton pickup sold in the USA. Not a drum brake to be seen in 2023/2024. I'm looking at MY market, sport!
Another example of vehicles built for the Phillipines/asian market being flogged in Australia as fantastic. Calling it bigger because its length is 1.5 cm longer and 5 cm wider is nothing short of a joke. Triton was always smaller than others and so now it’s caught up, you reviewers are wetting yourselves, wake up Australia we aren’t 4 foot tall, and this looks like an LDV.
Most of the testing and refinement, plus some Australia-only end products, were completed here in Australia. Dimensions are fine, not sure what you're banging on about...
I don’t get the point of so called testing it in the dune… more of a dune press launch, road tyres massive bumpers😂. But, looks pretty, don’t mind it for a work ute, most tritons out there are tradies anyway
Rear drum brakes are fine, don't have any issue with it. And that Triton transmission is one of the best around, I'll take reliability over an 8-10 speed which is not really necessary.
@@roguetrader08 Yes your right disc brakes and 10 speed transmissions are not necessary for going to the supermarket but when towing in steep terrain they are vital. All of the dual cab utes except for the new ranger are woefully under braked for their tow ratings not fit for purpose.
@@nicktaylor7680 It's a relatively easy/inexpensive job to upgrade brakes, and all motoring enthusiasts recommend you do so if towing regularly. As you said, this applies to most utes on the market. I'll reserve judgement on the towing capability of the Triton with a 6spd until they can test it properly.
@@roguetrader08 swapping out the discs and pads is not really a brake upgrade as you say. It would probably cost 10 grand to do properly. Brake fade when towing down a steep grade tends to give you a different perspective than reserving judgement based on some car reviewers paid for content.
@@nicktaylor7680 Whatever you say. I'll never do heavy towing, max is probably 2-2.5T for me, so I'm happy to let people more knowledgeable than me test the various utes.
Pretty disappointed ! Still got the same crappy rear drum brakes and leaf springs. How about updating to the 21st century and give us discs and coils all round ! Hell, even my 1988 Nissan GQ Patrol had discs all round ! Also have to worry about the longevity of that little 4 cylinder !
I have the Mr best car I’ve owned for the price range so much value for money. Other brands are nicer but for the money just not worth it for a car that gets trashed by kids n work 😅
If it looked anything like 3rd gen model, I'd be buying it just for the looks. It doesn't and just like previous (2014-2023) is just trying too much. Truck design peaked between 80' and 90'.
@@Kierdziol MQ and MR don't look very much alike, and I think the MQ looked better. That said, the new model looks significantly better than both. Completely disagree with your take.
@@roguetrader08 Doesn't matter, they're trying too much (aka over the top) with exterior design. 80' and 90' Tritons were the peak. You can't change my mind.
Arguably these truck utes justify having a powered tailgate way more that a compact hatch..it cant be _that_ hard can it?. Having said that it will probably sell well, unless the CEO comes out and says 'GFY'.
I can't wait to buy one. If it drives on sand like that please take my money. Mitsubishi quality and definitely performance!

El timón no combina con el diseño interior se vería mejor con el de la generación actual..
Mitsubishi is the king rally champion better than ford raptor, Mitsubishi car very intelligent engineering
is sand in the engine bay a normal thing when driving through the send dunes?
Haven't seen sand in my engine while dune driving
Yes, it's inescapable.
Love the square look
Twin turbo on a small engine, sounds good, how good is it in the long run? Towing 3.5t? Quieter, yes, serious 4wheeling? Recalls might await.
People have been tuning the 4n15 to big numbers and they have been proven to last. I'm sure the new 4n16 will also last

we need a 20k 4x4 for the people who make under 40k a year.
So build vehicles to accommodate the cockroaches of the world? Real smart lol.

Nice truck & color too.
First comment from 🇧🇳. Good review mate.
Square wheel archers and that front end on the top spec model are atrocious.
I don't agree, I think it looks great. It's all individual.
Needs more power and torque still lagging behind the class leaders.

Yeah, but then it would be priced like those as well. I think it's perfectly adequate for the market it's aiming for.

It's a prototype so not road legal
Max torque is at just 1500rpm. Not 1800 as mentioned in this video. The transition is 8 Speed. Not 6 as mentioned in this video. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Great ute but 6 speed auto and rear drum brakes are a deal breaker.
