The first movie was a one and done so whatever they made would have cheapened the first movie but boy did they kill this franchise with a vengeance. It wasn't awful storytelling but it was everything the fans didn't want and never asked for. I don't know how Philips was so out of touch with his audience that he thought humiliating and killing off a character that the audience was invested in would somehow be well received.
I don't think he was out of touch, I think he knew exactly what he was doing. He didn't want to make the sequel so he made a bad one. This "movie" was utterly disrespectful to the fans who paid over a billion dollars for the first one and comic fans everywhere. He knew exactly what he was doing.
@@Marissa_J I highly doubt it. What director would deliberately disgrace himself and make himself into a laughing stock? The only theory in relation to deliberate sabotage that makes sense would be him being blackmailed into making a terrible movie to end the franchise and I don't see that being anymore likely either.
Everyone who praises the movie loves to leave out the horrible trope of using r*pe as a way to advance a passive character in a slapdash way. He was literally carried in his underwear back to his cell after multiple men got on top of him. He was r*ped
@@happinesstan because if harley was beaten by four male guards after making a joke like "Aren't you gonna buy a girl a drink first" (which arthur made), then they take turns ripping her clothes off and getting on top of her yelling "get that jacket off" while she screams "no!" then the next cut is her being carried by two of them in her underwear and her feet limply dragging on the floor with a defeated warn out horrified look on her face (with other prisoners screaming "what did you do to Her?" And chanting the one song of defiance the movie nails you over the head with) no normal human being would think "Oh, she just got strip searched." Why do you think that Arthur only got strip searched?
You either die a good movie or live long enough to become a musical sequel.
The lesson of Joker 2 is you shouldn’t go against the system or you will get raped lol
actually
I feel like Todd Phillips himself was blackmailed in a way to undo everything he did in the first movie.
He said “this movie is only a fever dream and you will wake up soon”

They don’t want people fighting against the system, even though the system is in dire need of cleansing.

They played us all ha wtf
L movie trying to make everyone gay and weak
That's something a gay weakling would write.
It was a trash movie.
Agreed
This movie suckered
I'm pretty sure Arthur was only strip-searched, as is usual on return.
Nope, Todd Phillis has pretty much said he was....R*p*ed
If it was Lee (lady Gaga's) character in the exact same scene you wouldn't be saying this
@@joeking3860 Why?
