    "The patch is only as good as you're playing."
    Very good advice there!
    I used to get frustrated that why all the VST djent tone tutorials wouldn't work for me, when I realised how much of it is in the proper picking and palm muting technique.
    If you have those, you can get almost anything to djent!

    To be able to keep the signal that simple and get that tone is what sold me on the POD. Good video man.

    I don't know how I missed this for two and a half years, but thank you so much for uploading it. I followed someone else's tutorial when I first got mine but eventually assumed I couldn't get the tone I wanted with the stock EMGs I was using. You took a different route than them to achieving that tone and it made all the difference, because this one tone now sounds great on both my 6-string AND 8-string.

      I think something like that yeah , but theres so much things that affects the sound your getting from pod . For example : 6 or 7 or 8 string guitar , the pickups you using *ceramic or alnico* . And of course if you use it through speakers or a cab . ( digital recording or if ur using a mic ) .

    Hello Milian. I would like to contact you to ask you a question. Please, I would like to know which module between the line6 pod 3 x pro and the line6 hd x is the one that would best match to have modern sound. Which of the two seems to you to have the most sound qualities, the most effects and to be the most efficient? I am still waiting for a response from you. THANKS. Sincerely.

    The first time I watched your video, I managed to get a pretty decent sound out of my POD HD ProX.
    Then I downloaded a patch that was designed to sound like Humanity's Last Breath and from then on, I've been having trouble with over saturation, which is why next week I will take your advice again and use the KISS method.
    One thing I've learned is that the guitar tone you design for yourself is one thing. Putting on makeup over your tone to make it sound even prettier in a recording studio is another world all together.

    • @AndrewStonerock
      @AndrewStonerock 5 лет назад

      You can play through a normal guitar cab as well. You'll need a power amp. I run my Eleven Rack live with a rocktron velocity 100 power amp through my celestion v type loaded 2x12. Any patches you make with the cab Sims on will need tweaked a bit. Make sure to turn the cabs off if you run through an actual guitar cab.

      Gotcha. Well you can hook it up directly for sure! Running it through a cab and micing that up will get you a totally different result though, it depends on what you're after! I guess having some real air in the signal chain will get you a much more organic tone than just the POD straight into it.

    I'm looking for some help here in deciding whether or not the Pod Hd pro x is worth the extra money over the pod hd500. Does anyone have experience with both of the units and can give me some pros or cons to either one?

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  6 лет назад +1

      Well the HD Pro X is a rack unit, whereas the HD500 is a floorboard. I traded my HD Pro X against a HD500 because it's MUCH easier for live use. Otherwise the rack unit has more connections and a stronger processor (but the same sound) so you can build more complex patches. However the power of my HD500 is sufficient for every normal patch. It's just getting weak when you want to play with 2 guitars through it at once for example. There, an X would have a better performance.

    Thanks for your tutorials and music dude, subbed instantly! What is your opinion on using a compressor, such as the RED or TUBE COMP in the POD HD 500 ? What sort of clarity to do you find as opposed to using the amp head distortion.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic

    • @funknotik
      @funknotik 7 лет назад

      I've been using the red comp before the screamer with basically your same configuration, with good results. But I have to set the amp gain very low to maintain any kind of clarity. I wish there where more subtle variations of the compressor, this one is too either full on or too little compression. It's hard to get an even and natural sounding tone with the compressors in my experience.

    Hey this is the best Rhythm patch I've gotten for my POD HD PRO X, could you make a video on a tone for lead/riffing tone to play over this rhythm patch? Thanks :)

      Boss gt 100 have vintage sounds . Sounds more digital .
      POD HD is way better . Its easier to make it sound good , and i think its good for modern metal .
      I had the BOSS GT 100 and i used it for 3 years but i bought the POD HD pro x a few days ago and its much much better i can tell you ...

    Awesome tone, man! Does the pro x need to be hooked up to a power amp when you're running it into your DAW? It functions as it's own interface right? Thanks!

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  7 лет назад +1

      No for recording you just use the POD and nothing else :) It basically is an interface with guitar tones in it. You can also plug in your mic via XLR and record vocals.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  8 лет назад

      Ah d'accord! Ce que tu entends c'est le son direct du POD dans Logic et le son provenant des moniteurs, capturé par le micro pour ma voix.

      En fait moi j'ai une veille enceinte, et non pas des vrais moniteurs. C'est super pour moi pour écouter de la musique et pour enregistrer. Pour le mixage j'utilise des écouteurs.

    Noise Gate before distortion or pre-amp? That's a no-no since it affects the dynamics of your dry signal (thus taking some gain away as you mentioned), making your softly picked parts or the ends of sustaining notes silent. To correctly remove dist/amp hum and fizz, you have to put it after them.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  8 лет назад +1

      There's no right or wrong here in my opinion. I put the noise gate first because I want noise to be taken out before it gets amplified.
      If you use a real amp and a real noise gate pedal it will also be in that position of the signal chain.
      Of course this is a topic that is based on personal preference and experimenting! ;)

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  8 лет назад

      +Soulhenge Sometimes I put two noise gates in my signal chain of the POD. One before and one after the amp to get a really cleaned up signal.

    • @mkaali
      @mkaali 8 лет назад

      But you can remove the noise just as well after it has been amplified. The only difference is that you don't affect your dry signal, keeping your playing dynamics intact. And you can't remove all noise any way, because your guitar or amp or whatever is still making noise when you are playing normally, and you can't touch that.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  7 лет назад +1

      Btw I tried your version @mkaali (noise gate after amp sim) and it does not work properly.
      It's called a noise GATE not noise filter or something. When you are not playing, you risk making unwanted noises though, which you don't want. As you start playing, the gate fully opens and let's through the entire signal (as far as concern a real noise gate pedal, not the POD intern). It's about stopping unwanted noises while muting etc BEFORE they get amplified!

    This is a very interesting and reasonably priced device. I wonder why Line 6 is pulling the plug on it? The Helix seems to be twice as expensive and the RUclips videos I've listened to that compares them side by side, I can't really tell the difference, other than you pay $1000 for the Helix LT ($400 for the Helix Native software, when it's released) or higher. Whereas you might be able to pick up a Pod HD $500 or less! It looks like it's also a PC audio interface as well.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  7 лет назад

      shitmandood: well it's a matter of taste and priorities maybe. I was able to test both Line 6s side by side and the Helix is a big step up I think. But I understand if you'd think the huge price gap is not worth that certain improvement that you get.

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  8 лет назад +1

      Well depending on your guitar and pickups, you can add an EQ to slightly boost certain frequencies. But since I use this for recording I like to keep it as simple as possible to get a neutral signal.

      Hey, I'm very new to guitar, so this might be kind of a dumb question but other than this machine, what do you need? Is it just guitar into the line 6, into the computer? How do I like hear what I'm playing lol

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  8 лет назад

      +Jacob Acosta Master Scribe Well the Line 6 has a headphones output, so you can play guitar through the POD without having a computer. The USB connection is just if you want to record.
      You can also connect the POD to the computer and send the signal through the computer and its headphones output. Basically you can easily connect any speakers or headphones to listen!
