Hi Kim, thank you so much for the most helpful video out there about the blazer cape the only problem I have is the gap between the shoulders is 2 inches or 2 cm because you said you did it in 2 cm which was a lot and then you asked us to do it less, like 1-1.5” which is more than 2cm. I really appreciate if you answer the question. Thanks
Excelente...lo estoy haciendo para mi hija ..no se inglés pero solo con ver cómo lo dibujas lo entiendo perfecto..aprenderé inglés para entender mejor...gracias.
Thanks Kim, you are the real MVP. I am so going to make this. I have been looking for the pattern. I notice you interchange between cm and inches. Which is quite confusing. In the beginning at time 2.00 you said measure 2cm at the shoulder and reduce it 1 or 1.5 inches. But on closer look at the video, the tape was on the 2inches side
Your demonstration is amazing. I'm a fashion design too. Still there are others technique is more helpful and much more easier. Thank you for your published, Miss. Kim.
Thanks for the tutorial, You are source of inspiration, Do you use you Inches or Cm in measurement. I wouldn't mind if you can use one form of unit althrough the tutorial so that the viewers wouldn't be confuse. Thanks
Working hard in 2019 to avoid fast fashion and unethical clothing brands (so like 99% of them). It's difficult as a plus size girl to find brands that don't use sweatshops. Starting my journey of learning to sew my own pieces and will work toward something like this in the future! Thanks :)
Thank you dress you just made I have always been in love with this cape dress and it came out so well, please when you were cutting the cape, did you fold it into 2 or 1 thank you and God bless
Hey this tutorial is amazing. I have a question... if I wanted to make a deep v mermaid dress with the cape attachment, how would you go about making it?
Could you draft the sleeve part out from the base of the armscy so that it could be joined to the side seam making a full cape. I had one decades ago but can't find a pattern to make another one. Would be great for Irish weather.
Love you love you love you love you love you love you love you love you love you love you love you and thanks I was searching for this pattern you make me happy :)
Kim The white pantsuit in your beginning...what is the fabric preferable for this design? And where can I get a wide pattern paper like you use? I would like to make the cape longer..ankle or shin length ...advise pls.
For that jumpsuit design, you can use any fabric that isn’t too heavy because of the length of the cape. Crepe, cotton, taffeta, silk e.t.c are among some good options. I got my pattern paper from Williamgee online store, but I had to cellotape two wide sheets together along the edge to get that really wide piece I used for the cape. You can make your cape as long as you want dear, you have the total freedom to do that 💪
Happy New Year Kim. Quick question what about if you wanted to make a cape.dress instead, but the cape longer than the dress but squared in the bottom instead of circular. Do I follow the same pattern? Please help. Thank You
For a cape dress, you make the cape longer and make the bottom squared in like you mentioned. You follow the same steps but make the changes required to achieve your dress design
Thanks for your response... One more question please. If I go longer in the back is it still 55inches out. You have 60 in the back and 55 out? I don't know if you understand
Hi Ife. You can either make your neckline wide enough for your head and fix the zip on the back that stops like 2 inches before the neckline, that way you can get into your dress by having the neckline wide & zip to open up the waist & hip of the dress. or you can fix the zip on the side seam
My name is egbuna Jennifer just joined your charnel today. i have been having problems with my pattern adjustment that's for my bust and waist please share a video
i viewed your insta story and saw this piece and ave been waiting to see this video..finaaaally its here and am definetely gonna make myself on 😘😘 thankyou so much priscillia 👏👏
I want to add a cape to the back of a sleeveless dress design, the fabric is more loose and I want the back to be a V line with folds on the back draping, how can I adjust the pattern to acheive this effect? I have no dress form to experiment with and I'm still a beginner, I'd appreciate your help with my project❤️❤️❤️
You can adjust the back neckline to the V-neckline on the pattern for your design. You can make a quick toile to see how it sits on your body before making your main dress
Kim, you are the best. I’m your biggest Mexican fan! ❤️ I have a little question about the paper you are using to your basic patterns. Is that paper kraft or Kraftcena? (Those are the names that paper has in Mexico). I love you.
Thanks dear. The paper I use is just called pattern paper. But, it doesn't really matter what type of paper you use, you can work with which ever you have access to. I have used old newspaper and baking paper in the past 😂

Pls how do you attach the cape if you’re doing it with a dress with a back zipper?

? if you create a lining d you necessarily need a facing also?
It’s not a must but it’s nicer to have a facing along the neckline and front to keep these parts of the garment stable.
Love it as always .thank you ❤️

Please ma, what fabric was used for the white cape jacket?
It looks like crepe fabric
God bless you for a very clear simplified tutorial. Which type of fabric is best suitable for the cap jacket ? How many yards would one need for the whole jacket ?
Thank you. You can use any woven fabric of your choice. You will need about four & half metres in total(2.5m of the main and 2m of lining
