This is hands dowm the BEST BODICE TUTORIAL there is! It showed me step to step as a beginner how to measure, draw and cut it all out. And everything was just so clear from the video I dont even have anymore questions to start my sewing. So satisfied and glad that this video helped me tremendously!
Excellent video. I am a seasoned sewer and it is always great to see sewing tutorials to refresh and perfect once techniques. Thank you! Now, a subscriber.
This is a perfect demonstration of how to drape. I've watched a few prior and they were not as thorough as your video. Thank you so much. I've learned quite a bit on draping in a short time frame from your video and didn't fall asleep halfway through it. Very precise.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I learnt a lot. This is the best so far, the way it was explained with full details. With a class like this on RUclips I can easily learn from my country with low budget or thinking how to afford school fees. Thank you University of Fashion, I love this class. I wish to see more of detailed class like this.
Nicely demonstrated video with clear instruction. Happy that the video was not too short, long enough to get adequate info' to work with when making up own bodice pattern. Warm and best regards.
You can create your own princess style lines. For the front, the princess line is positioned mid shoulder through apex down to center of waist. On the back: mid shoulder, down along the shoulder blade to mid back waist.
I’ve been staring at my curved side bodice piece and the straight front panel trying to figure out I pin a curve onto a straight line - and the Butterick pattern was no help at all. Thank you, I now know what to do.

How much coast for all fashion design materials? Plus, is it useful to subscribe in universityoffashion.com for non fashion designer students? Does the website teach all principals from A-Z? I really want to be a designer but I have no background about fashion designing at all. Please help!
You should be able to attach the bustier to a long skirt without it falling down, you just need to be sure that the bustier fits like a glove on top and that you have inserted bones into the princess seams. When you subscribe to University of Fashion, you will be able to watch our follow up lesson "Foundation Bustier Construction Techniques"
This was very informative, but how do I create a bustier according to my own (very much fuller) measurements instead of the bust? I can't pin on myself...
Hi Amir, We suggest that you pad your dress form to achieve the desired size. You can use cotton padding (used in quilting) or purchase the Fabulous Fit Dress Form System. To learn how to pad a dress form, become a subscriber to UniversityofFashion.com and watch this lesson www.universityoffashion.com/lessons/how-to-pad-a-dress-form/. Best wishes!
You would just follow the video and measure exactly the same but for a larger size, adding the extra material in the length and width to accommodate a larger size figure
Question, I have a dress form and I design clothes for different people the dress form is not adjustable. How can you construct different garments on a dress form that does not adjust to different sizes. Just a standard foam. Please reply. Thank you.
LAURICE HUBBARD I’m not a fashion designer, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I have seen people adding padding to a dress form. I’ve also seen people taking a padded bra that fits very well and pinning it to the dress form and then stuffing it to help it maintain its shape. You could also add a layer of panty hose or something similar over it and stuff it to the correct proportions. Just some ideas.
Hi! You should Google "dress forms" and look for a supplier located near you. We have an excellent video lesson for subscribers called "Intro to Dress Forms" that explains the differences between available dress forms. Only some are suitable for draping. You should avoid buying anything described as a "mannequin", even if the seller claims it can be used for draping.

After using the muslin is the actual bodice supposed to be muslin or do you redo it with different fabric
You would definitely want to choose a different fabric for the actual garment. Muslin is used only for draping it.
The beauty of a video tutorial is that you can replay parts of the lesson!
There are more than 400 videos that you can learn from - subscribe to universityoffashion.com

If I attached a long paneled, circle skirt to it, will it ride down? And also, how can I avoid riding down bustier when the skirt is heavy

You will need to use a dress form for this lesson. When draping something as form fitting as a bustier, it is the most accurate way.
Beautiful
How do I transfer the pattern to the fabric without cutting it when I get all the pins done?
i love it...thank you very much 2 !!! I'M BRAZILIAN !!!!!!!1 obrigadooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Wait so like um is this a top like when it is finished do you wear also for the other side do you repeate or cut out
Yes, you cit the bodice times 2 so you have a left and a right side.
great tutorial, thank you so much for posting it!
How do I do the same for a size 36 D bustling? My dress form does not accommodate the size. Please advise
Meant bustline

How to vary measurements in cutting for different size gowns?
You would just follow the video and measure exactly the same but for a larger size, adding the extra material in the length and width to accommodate a larger size figure

UniversityOfFashion Thank you so much
UniversityOfFashion it is so helpfull ❣️ really thank
Very nice
How would you attatch the bodice to a dress
You would attach the bustier to a skirt or even a pant by making sure the waist of the pant or skirt is the same waist measurement as the bustier.
I love this video thank you so much for the lesson
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I would like to practice it
Nice 👍
