- Exploring Alaskan Waters on the Disney Wonder! ❄️🚢
We started our day with a refreshing walk around the deck. 🌅 Still adjusting to the time difference between the UK and Canada/Alaska, our early morning stroll was the perfect way to wake up and take in the crisp sea air.
Entering Alaskan Waters 🌊
As we entered Alaskan waters, our Cruise Director Jimmy announced over the tannoy that we were in the breeding grounds for whales. 🐋 With binoculars in hand, we kept a constant lookout, hoping to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures.
In-Room Breakfast 🥐
Back in our room, we awaited our in-room breakfast delivery. A lovely continental breakfast arrived, featuring cereals, toast, a selection of pastries, and drinks. It was the perfect start to our day.
Meeting Mickey and Minnie 🐟❄️
Next, we queued up on deck to meet Mickey Mouse in his fisherman attire. 🎣 After a delightful meet and greet with Mickey, we joined the queue to meet Minnie in her Alaskan gear. Both characters looked adorable in their themed outfits!
Brunch at Palo 🍴
We had a reservation at Palo for brunch. Palo is an elegant, adults-only restaurant offering exquisite Italian cuisine and a sophisticated atmosphere. The service was outstanding, and we sampled a variety of dishes including fish antipasti, Mickey waffles, Parmesan chicken, calzone, steak, and lasagne. Our meal was topped off with a selection of delectable desserts. 🍰
South Sawyer Glacier via Tracy Arm 🏔️
After brunch, we headed up on deck as we approached South Sawyer Glacier via Tracy Arm. Tracy Arm is a stunning fjord in Alaska, known for its towering cliffs, waterfalls, and majestic glaciers. The route to the glacier is determined by the Alaskan pilots on board, ensuring a safe and scenic journey. We chose to stay on deck four, which was less crowded than the upper decks.
Rare Meet and Greet: Koda 🐻
While on deck four, we had the chance to meet Koda from Brother Bear-a rare and exciting character meet and greet! It was a unique experience we couldn't pass up.
Soaking in the Scenery 🌲🏔️
We continued to soak in the breathtaking scenery, featuring snowcapped mountains, trees anchored into the mountainside, multiple waterfalls, and floating icebergs as we neared South Sawyer Glacier.
Viewing the Glacier 🛥️
Upon reaching the glacier, we admired it from a distance. Although tender boats took excursion passengers closer, we opted not to take these trips due to the high costs. Instead, we enjoyed the view from the ship, spotting a bear and a bald eagle along the way. 🦅
PhotoPass Fun 📸
We made the most of our PhotoPass and grabbed more pictures with the characters, capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
Evening Entertainment 🎩
We headed to the Walt Disney Theatre to watch Jon Armstrong, a magician who has performed on Penn and Teller: Fool Us and had a show at Epcot. Initially, I wasn't too keen on watching this show, but it turned out to be a really fun and entertaining experience.
Freezing the Night Away Show ❄️
The evening deck show was "Freezing the Night Away," a performance geared more towards children. Having seen it on the Disney Magic a few years prior, we decided to skip it this time.
Dinner at Tiana’s Place 🎷🍽️
Our evening meal was back at Tiana’s Place, featuring the "Freezing the Night Away" menu. Unfortunately, the food selection wasn't to our taste, similar to our experience last time. Tiana's Place, inspired by "The Princess and the Frog," is typically a vibrant restaurant with live jazz and Southern-inspired cuisine, but tonight’s menu didn't quite hit the mark for us.
Room Service Comfort 🍔
Due to our disappointment with dinner, we opted for room service after retreating for the evening. We enjoyed burgers and chips and chicken tenders and chips, which hit the spot perfectly.
Turndown Service 🐋
Once again, our turndown service was perfect, with a towel whale and a few chocolates waiting on our bed. 🧸🍫

@@jsadventures682 it’s definitely worth it on long cruises… I wouldn’t do Palo dinner on a short cruise as the rotation dinning is so good! 😊
