God led me to the SDA church 6 years ago after reading Revelation.( I have only known the new logo) I didn't know much about the symbolism back then, but I knew that the Lamb is Christ, and I knew what the commandments of God were. God is bringing people out of Babylon. No one had more issues with the GC than EGW, yet she didn't relate to the church as Babylon, in fact she rebuked others who said such things. I'd be happy to share some quotes with you if you like? I myself have been very disheartened with apostasy within our movement, but this led me to greater study of both the Bible and SOP. Two examples from the Bible which stick out to me (regarding to what is taking place now) Is Elijah and Ezekiel. In both instances God's people had apostatised, yet He had a remnant of faithful children in both instances. I know that the church has been infiltrated, Satan has declared war on us, so can we expect anything else? We need to be the 'logo' for Christ, and show the world who He is. Judas throwing back the money to the priests was not repentance. His remorse was not true repentance; if it was he would be accepted just as Peter was.
But Judas did not yet have the 30 pieces of silver while he was in the upper room, but later, when he left after Jesus told him to do quickly what he wanted to do. Then he went to the Pharisees to betray Him and then he got the money, not before. He did not return to the upper room, but was in the crowd that met Jesus in the Garden. Because EGW writes, that there in the upper room, after the washing of the feet Satan got hold of Judas and then Judas put into practice what he had thought about before.
He was sorry for the consequence of his sin which he did not know would happen. He thought that Jesus would work a miracle and deliver himself. When this did not happen, he gave up all hope and trust in Him. He went out and it was midnight in the middle of the day. He hung himself. He repented for the consequence of his sin not that he had sinned. Only godly repentance is acceptable to Him.
2 Cor 7:10 Godly sorrow produces repentance.... and worldly sorrow brings death. If Judas had trusted in the saving grace of Jesus, he would have turned to Him for a way out of his mess. I think he was filled with sorrow and regret and that led him to sort out a solution for himself. That's my understanding - not sure if that helps.
Christ knew what was in Judas' heart and mind - to "BETRAY" Him - thus when Jesus and the disciples were in the garden of Gethsemane that is why Judas walked up to and kissed Christ on the cheek - he betrayed Christ with a kiss - that was the signal to those waiting to arrest Christ as to which one was Christ.
