Totally agree. GoPro 12 is very disappointing. Once all of the embargoes end on Friday we will hear the same thing from everyone who already has one.

My current gopro is hero 4, sliver. My main use of the camera is for my drum performance on stage. Sometimes, the lighting setting is dark. So hero 12 or action 4?
If low light performance is what you're after, osmo action 4 is the one to get.

Yes for the general consumers, as you said, it's just small updates. As far as low light yes the action 4 is better, but overall picture quality gopro is still king, but for most people posting on yt or Instagram either will do fine.
When talking about overall picture quality, how can anyone disregard low-light performance? Because of that, I don't buy the idea that the GoPro has better image quality in general.

Perhaps I will when it becomes available. It's only for preorder at the moment. And like I said in the video, no one who has the camera is allowed to compare them yet. I assume you don't know this but to make a video like this with cameras in hand is impossible because of the embargo.
Thankyou for doing such a good job at being to the facts about the changes, not bashing it because it was not what you wanted, not bashing it because your preference is for the Action lineup. You gave your opinions but in a way that was removed from the facts.
Personally, the GP12 is cheeper and the better all round pick for what I actually need out of a camera. I also see a lot of people taking a look at the upgrade from the OA3 to 4 and the upgrade from GP11 to 12 and saying that because the jump from OA3 to 4 was bigger then the Action 4 is better then the Hero 11/12. For some people yes it is but I just don't see that being the case for me. GoPro is getting backlash from people not because of what they did add but because of what they did not add. There was not a ton of hype around the Action 4 release and not a ton of major expectations like for the GP12 release, and because the Action launch did not have to deliver on expectations it was received with open arms, but because the GP12 release was overhyped with unreasonable expectations there is a lot more backlash. GoPro NEVER promised a 1 inch sensor, NEVER promised 8k, NEVER promised 4k 240fps. The upgrade from the 11 to 12 is not that big as opposed to the upgrade from the Action 3 to 4. However, I feel that if the hype was reversed then the general consensus would also be reversed. Just my personal opinion though.
I think the backlash is warranted. Because they literally release a camera that is practically the same as the one from a year ago. Regardless of the speculations, that is not acceptable. In fact, the only new feature was the removal of the gps module which undoubtedly contributed to the better battery life. The rest of the 'new' features are all firmware updates. And it's not cheaper. Sure if you compare it to their old pricing but it's still the most expensive action camera in the market alongside the action 4.
@@freelyroaming Backlash for not adding something, ok, sort of understandable. Backlash for not adding specific things? I don't think so. But still, the GoPro has (other than the 1 inch sensor on the Action 4) Better specs. 5.3k 60fps and 4k 120fps as opposed to 4k 60/120 FPS on the Action 4.
Now has HDR. Most of everything else is comparable. However, bluetooth mice are much more useable for action camera situations than mounted mics and also allow for better mic positioning.
And let's not forget to mention that even though the 1 inch sensor on the Action 4 does technically make it better in low light than GoPro. It is really only Good if you know how to properly light a low light set, and the GoPro still has good performance under those conditions.
Also, the GPS. The Action 4 only has GPS functionality with an external, separately purchased, remote. I don't think the GPS removal should be looked at as a point For DJI, for people who use it then maybe just a point Off of GoPro.
Both are amazing cameras however I am not actually seeing the action actually worth spending more money on for how I would use it. And upgrading from Hero 7 Black the Hero 12 is the obvious choice over the 11.
@@Bellaire_Isaac it was clear to everyone that 1 inch sensor was a pipe dream. No one I know expected it to happen. But once again, the backlash was about releasing the same camera as a new one. I don't care about any of the rumors that circulated before. I care about how they made only firmware changes. Bluetooth module was already there for wireless connections, HDR is all done by the onboard processor which is the GP2 and it didn't change. That means they could have done all of this to the 11 with a firmware update. But instead they are making you buy a new camera. And people will. Sounds like you might. You know the Osmo Action 3 has an HDR video mode. In the 4, they just stopped calling it HDR because that feature was just added to the standard video modes. It's actually kind of embarrassing for GoPro to come out with it now and calling it a new feature. Like I said in my video, the 5.3k, 27MP sensor is not better than the sensor in the OA4 by just about everyone who knows about cameras and what makes them good. Trying to pass off higher megapixels as better had been in this business since digital cameras were invented. It's about the quality of the pixels, not just the quantity.

My only point is not about the upgrade from the 11, or even really about the sensor (because obviously GP and DJI are picking 2 different ways the sensor will ideally be used/the market they want to appeal to) My biggest question that nobody can really answer me is what actually makes the Osmo Action 4 better then GP12. Ignoring the upgrade from the OA3 to 4 and the update from the GP11 to 12. Also ignoring the sensor differences and personal preference things like magnetic mounting. I know that there are a great deal of differences that leave plenty of room for discussion and personal preferences, but is there actually an overarching reason beyond those things that nobody is mentioning.

@@Bellaire_Isaac what makes one thing better than the other is inherently a personal question only you can answer. So you can't disregard those main reasons that most people will point to because you think that are personal preferences. They ALL are so for every one of those reasons you said to ignore, they all must apply. I have another video that already talks about why I think it's better. I've owned a half dozen GoPros in the past and they all glitch for one reason or another. Battery level dropping for no reason, videos becoming corrupt unexpectedly or user interface becoming sluggish over time. In the 3 osmo actions that I've owned, those things just don't happen. These are basic qualities all cameras should be able to maintain and that's not even calling out any specific features.

Not impressed with the GoPro12 …. seems like a GP11 with a software upgrade. The bigger question is what happened to innovation at GoPro?
Great recap without the camera. GoPro 12 can't compete with the Osmo Action 4. They dropped the ball. If it looks mediocre on paper, it is probably the same with the actual camera. The specs they put on the body is hilarious. Reminds me of Duck Dynastic. Sorry but I won't a camera that has specs on it.. makes it look cheap and gimmicky. lol 5K? don't need that, most don't, cramming megapixels in a tiny sensor, well it's great for average consumer who doesn't understand larger sensor, larger pixels, better light, less megapixels. For GoPro 12, as Jonas Jameson would have said in Spider Man, "It's crap!" lol
08:12 It's not even software update but in the case of the BATTERY HEATING CONCERN,
it appears that GoPro is just REPAIRING the issues that were in the H11B, but unfortunately,
the Company did this by removing some functionality such as the GPS thingy.
I thought it would be great to just keep the GPS function in the H12 with a simple toggle to
switch it ON or OFF but not to completely remove it. Such as backwards attitude, I might say,
on the part of the GoPro think tanks. Forgive my harsh comment but I'm just saying what
I personally feel about the supposedly "NEW FEATURES" of the H12B.
Sad to say, the INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR ACTION CAMERA is now DEAD. Long Live OA4.
i sent my h12b back due to lack of GPS and unimpressed with the new features in the light of lack of GPS. removing the GPS without offerint a GPS remote solution is mind boggling. It's like they're offering you a new phone, but taking out your kidney, since you rarely use it...according to them...
