How cool to see all the vendors up at the top of Monseratte! We were there in 2021 and there was absolutely nothing being sold at the top (COVID), although it was a clear day and let me tell you that the sunset over the city is one of the most amazing views we have ever seen! We can’t wait to follow along and watch your videos in across Colombia! We fell in love with the Quindio region. Safe travels!
Oh interesting! It was great to see how many shops were open up there. And yeah we heard the sunsets are amazing… that’s actually why we went in the afternoon but no luck for us 😢
Real cool video on Colombia. A lot of good info of the expenses while touring the country. The ride up to the market was super cool. Can’t wait to see more!
Getting drugged occurs in every department city and town in Colombia. Not just in Medellin the criminals are using women online to lure desperate foreigners to Colombia to rob them . Bogotá is one of the most dangerous cities in Colombia. Yet, very beautiful, cosmopolitan, and as long as you act like a tourist. Most likely you will not face any issues.

Eric, google says that empanadas originated in Spain, which I guess would make sense as every Latin country also seems to have them. Per Google "Empanadas have their origins in Galicia (Spain) and Portugal. They first appeared in Medieval Iberia during the time of the Moorish invasions. A cookbook published in Catalan in 1520 mentions empanadas filled with seafood among its recipes of Catalan, Italian, French, and Arabian food"
You bet it is! After 4 weeks of holiday in Bello, Envigado, el Poblado, Medellin, I got out of Colombia. What place not all but many people are out to find ways to scam you out of as many pesos as possible. Tried the airbnb in 3 different locations one infested with cockroach the other was threaten by the host son in the next apt for complaining about the music at 3am 5-6 nights a week and the last was a total scam listed an address for a decent location apt. but was brought to a completly different address at the time of checking in. Not to mention being ripoff by almost all the taxi drivers and short changed by many vendors. Sept. 12, 2023 to mid Oct. 2023.

Colombia is an absolutely incredible country! You definitely need to make a visit when you get to South America! And Sarah is actually working on a full guide to Colombia right now. It should be available soon with all of our top tips, places and safety advice 😊
Just so you know, begining november 1, 2023, Canadian's are being charged a tax to enter the country. Its approximately $85 Canadian. I was surprised about this. I knew nothing of it until the pilot mentioned it when we landed in Bogota.
One things that maybe you have noted about the colombians is we have some curiosity for the foreing people, specially the "normal people" (I mean not rich people that have the chance to spent time in abroad or interact with foreigners frenquently). And this could be one reason that we are kind with the foreigners.
That’s so good to know! We realize we probably didn’t have that right, since we were in Bogotá and hadn’t experienced the accent yet. Still so interesting the different accents.
Bogota is a dangerous city, we who live here always walk with ours heads on a swivel, it's dangerous, don't come here, there's safer countries to visit, Netherlands, Denmark.... These Latin American lands are dangerous, let alone the cities.
Hi guys! thanks for reassuring me about safety in Colombia :) just a question from a fellow photographer: how did you feel going around Bogota/Monserrate with your camera just clipped on your backpack in plain sight and your tripod sticking out of the backpack? That's literally "dar papaya" :P
Monserrate is super safe! It’s also only dar papaya if you’re just willy nilly holding your stuff and not paying attention. Somebody would need to cut off the backpack to get that camera or tripod off of it. As far as the rest of Bogotá, because there’s two of us, it’s easier to be defensive. You can generally get a feel of an area when you arrive - not to mention that if you’re in an area where someone will steal your camera, there’s a chance that someone will let you know. We had our cameras out in an unsafe area once and we had like 3 different people on the street tell us to be careful. So we put them away!
Always get an Uber over local cabs (Red Bull sponsored trip - not really but could be) - a much more pleasant trip and safer as tracked. Love Colombia.
North Bogota is mostly safe and where most of the tourist parts are. Also all of the richer neighborhoods are there too. Not to say that the north is 100 percent safe, but it is alot better than south Bogota. Areas in Southern bogota are quite run down and areas more sketchy and higher crime. As a tourist, you wouldnt have any reason to venture down south of Bogota. But yes you can spend a whole lifetime in colombia and nothing would go wrong. But its important not to be complacent, even if you have been safe you're whole trip. The moment that you start to become lazy or over confident, is when you could find yourself being robbed or kidnapped. Also need to be weary of cops, as some can be just as bad as the criminals if they want to take advantage of "dumb tourists". Im aussie with family in Colombia, so everytime I go there I got the locals keeping me out of trouble :)
Not a bad idea, but I would sooner visit Medellin rather than Bogotá. A lot more to do and see and more coliving spaces where you can meet people. Only tip for Quito is to stay in a safe area. There’s lots of unpleasant stuff going on in Ecuador right now. It might be worth spending just a little extra to stay somewhere good. Hope this helps!
min 10:55 Colombia has at least 6 or 7 different accents... even in the caribbean part, despite the speak similar, locals can see difference between them according to their state or province...
The danger there mostly depends on where you are and if you're looking for trouble. If you're just a tourist and stay in tourist areas and use common sense, it isn't dangerous.

You're fine because you're only in the city. But a famous YT Canadian/Russian lady vlogger from Canada was walking daytime over a pedestrian walkway along the road & got puzzled why people in cars where pointing hands towards her when she suddenly saw a guy coming towards her behind her back with gun. In her panic, being a tall woman, instead she run towards the man shorter than her whom she pushed and she jumped over the railings and good thing a public transportation stopped and she escaped. But she was so shaken and crying when she was at her hotel, decided to fly out. Apparently, being tall, beautiful, & blonde, while she was walking on the walkway, there were these men walking alongside her but below much lower than the road level. Earlier she was fine in her stay in Bogota, & in other cities, except that city (can't remember the plsce name).
We heard that story as well. Such a scary thing that happened to her. Sadly being a solo female traveller does make you more of a target (although we have met many solo females with great experiences in Colombia!) We are always very cautious and aware in any country and always research/ask locals safe areas to explore. But we’ve been all over the country (cities and small towns) and have personally never felt unsafe at all here!
She is Ukrainian and she was in Santa Marta. Standing in a view point, overlooking a slum. I am really sorry for her. She was very brave and did not fly out, she went to Medellin afterwards, Same thing happened to an American youtuber in Villavicencio but he actually got robbed of his equipment, it even made me apprehensive of going there, but when I saw the place on which he got robbed, it was sketchy at hell even in the day time. It does not make it right, though. I would not say that Colombia is the safest, but common sense will save you.
@@BogotaeverythingUkraine and Russia are very safe countries for (female) solo travelers (even at night). They can often not imagine that bad things can easily happen in Colombia. People from the US know of course about unsafe places in the US and are therefore usually better prepared.

@@elrubeno2000 70 extranjeros (cuantos de estos de venezuela?) de 5,5 millones de turistas extranjeros en el país, es decir el 1,1 % de los extranjeros, es una cifra muy baja como para que les metas terror a visitar el país.
@@christianoviedo0312It’s of course not only murders. The biggest problem are the numerous robberies. Many countries don’t have this safety problem or considerably less.
Hii bro please help me i want italy fruit پیکنگ viza
It’s not Columbia it’s Colombia 😂 love it
You missed the opportunity to make a Colombia/British Columbia pun.
You’re absolutely right… if only we were British in Colombia - then we’d have no choice but to make a joke!
Colombia y Melbourne, separadas al nacer pero en el clima 😅
I worry most about 💵 conversion.🤔😂
Next time don't try the rice empanadas hahaha, those are the worst even for Colombians themselves
many American men being murdered now in Medellin and Bogota. men looking for sex in sketchy bars or via internet love sites. my Colombian wife tells me each time I come down or quite often when I talk to her on the phone.
9:50 put in the hole 🤣🤣
Please use correct pronunciation. There’s no ā vowel sound in Cartagena. Smh
How do you pronounce it? Sound it out
@@EricandSarah Car tah heh na. Not Car tah hay na. LOL 🤣
What’s the difference
@@EricandSarah The difference is you sound like Gringos.
That would be accurate because we are gringos. We have an accent. Everyone knows what we’re talking about when we say it that way.

Hahaha never complain about any prices outside of Canada 😂
hi guys i need your help for a question. my flight for colombia is tomorrow from texas and i just registered in mig-check. regitration is successfull but i did not receive the email back from them. i need to show it in airport to get the boarding pass. i tried multiple times in mig-check site but did not receive any emails from them. what should i do?
You should be able to get it from the site. Put your information in and it should be downloadable once again. If that doesn’t work, then register again. It’s free.
@@EricandSarah i am able to download in PDF format but still i have not received any emails from them. Will this PDF documents work to get the boarding pass? right?
and this PDF file has the QR code and scanning that QR will open their website where all my information are already there.
@@ldrtv86Were you even asked for it? My experience in and out was that it was never even mentioned. I'd assumed that it was linked to my passport number, and therefore on their system.
