I owned a pressure washing company for 12 years. You're the hardest working man in the fishing bid'ness. My bread and butter was fleet trucks. Working in winter conditions, bless your heart, It's brutal. How much ice in the beard? I had to "defrost" a few times during the day. I ordered speed clips on your recommendation and I can see how they work great. Truth is I just turned 70 and my fingers are beaten up by arthritis and I just can't squeeze that clip open, but I appreciate you mentioning it.
I've been washing trucks for the last 27 years...I feel much older than I am, lol FedEx is my main account and they keep me busy! I've had to thaw out a time or two in front of the exhaust, lol Appreciate you watching! 👊
@@TackleJunky81 I am now a fan, thanks for helping us just getting back into the s̶p̶o̶r̶t̶ obsession. I've already spent my quota on lures, and it's only january. grumble...
Direct tying lures is old tradition bound fisherman hokem....I did it all my life (I'm 59). I use snaps now and I use the same leader all day long with may lures and setups. I'm here to say that the fish don't car,. If they aren't biting with snaps, they are not biting with a direct tie. Good video.
I just order some of the speed clips. I’ve been using the standard snaps. Hopefully these work as good or better. Thanks for the discount code as well.
Awesome video I can’t tell you put a lot of work great job and quite a bit of useful information and your video quality lately has been much better as well!!
I started using clips, because I only had a few rods! But I use them on everything I can! There's not much you can't use them on! If you tie a short leader, you can do more setups! Love them!
Im just now starting to use these this summer, watched a video and the small ones breaks at 25lb of straight pulling which is great for the fishing i do inshore near the Pensacola area for reds, trout, striped bass and flounder, my only thaught is the what if, has anyone had any problems with this while fighting your fish?
I have the same size as the ones you show but the box doesn't say the size. I'd like the next size up but don't know what to search for. Do you know of they have sizes? I'd like one say 1/2 inch to 3/4. Cabelas near me only carries the tiny one.
I use them when I fish on my lunch hour I'll have 1 maybe 2 rods and it makes switching lures quick. I've used them with spinner baits too. Just cut a short band of heat shrink tubing and slide it over the spinner bait line tie to close the R bend.
Frank Scalish on BTL swears by the Norman speed clips. So that's why I started using them and they are worth it! Oh and he recommends you use them with the split ring also.
I’ve used the Norman clips for over 20 years and won’t be without the for all cranks. Everything except hooks and jigs. As for your time, take care of your family first. Thanks!!
TJ great tip! I feel ya on the work schedule. Good help hard to find. If the fam didn’t have to eat and I wasn’t addicted to tackle I could fish more and work my channel. 😂 Tight lines brother!
I have used Tactical Anglers clips all summer on cranks, works great!! I tried the speed clips but found it too hard to remove and put on a lure. Maybe I was using the smaller ones. As far as the videos, you got to do what you got to do. Love the videos but don't sweat it trying to put them out. We are not going anywhere, family first.
I’ve used these for probably as long as you have and agree with how well they work. I have found one issue. They can work their way off when aggressively jerking a jerk bait or walking the dog on a top water when the hooks get fouled in the line. It doesn’t happen often, but does once in a while
I had the same problem... switched over to another style clip that doesn't have that problem... in addition I've also found that the other style is stronger and less likely to bend out if you get a big fish or if they get deep in the slop or wood. I've had the Norman's bend out... though it does take more than a little pressure to do so. Also I find the other style as a more open attachment point allowing more room for the bait to move (closer to the original action of the split ring a removed). The dia. of the Norman's were it attaches is smaller than most of the split rings it will be replacing, which i feel changes the action a bit (at least on the baits I've used). Still solid information here as both style clips are great time savers when changing out lures... but you still have to check you line frequently and retie to the clip when needed.
Used those all the time back in the day. Couldn't hardly find them and then stopped using them years ago. Found that balsa lures didn't run well with those speed clips though. I'm thinking about getting a 50 pack now. Keep on keeping on. Sounds like the business is doing well but hope you get some time back soon.
I actually have them speed clips but they're made from Dr. fish. They had very good reviews and most people said they are just like the Norman clips if not they may be prefer them a little bit more.
TJ, great video topic for me. Ive tried 2 different clips so far, but they are sometimes hard to put on smaller lure eyelets. So tell me why you dont use these Norman clips on squarebills and other crankbaits?
Loved these till I lost a megabass karashi…clip didn’t look deformed or faulty. Never thought this would happen so just cut off about 10 of these on almost all my rods
Who was that imposter.lol. all baby faced lol.. Those clips are pretty cool. I'll definitely be looking into them. I hate tying loop knots along with retying in general. 🎣🇺🇸🎣
I remember those days. Young couple fish all day n stay out all night if ya wanted to n then go to work like nothing happened. Not anymore now im in my 40's but with age comes wisdom.. Well for some of us. Lol.
Daaayyuuumm...that old clip...was like...that's not you! These clips...very convenient. I'll even split ring my chatterbaits then speed clip them for quick swaps.
We are still in the mid 70s with a high of 84 forecasted. Cold front coming this weekend but not super cold for this time of year. Not like we had in February with Uri. Stay say brother!
Hey Bud good to see you last night. Working 7 days a week is a drag. On that Shimano SLX I have a lews custom speed stick lite and the action is medium lite. Would that reel go on that rod. Could I throw Ned Rigs with that reel
Hey brother, what's the weight rating on the rod? If the power is ML it should be around an 1/8. How light of a ned head you plan on tossing? With lighter line I'd say you'd be safe with an 1/8 or so. I've found when casting lighter lures on casting gear it's easier for me to cast with one hand side arm.
@@TackleJunky81 rating is 1/8 to a 1/2 says Jerk Baits topwater and small Crankbaits. I had a BFS reel on it and throwing Ned’s. Want to use the baitcaster more
Good to see you again TJ81. I'll have to try some of these next Spring. Sometimes I spend more time retying than actually fishing.
