  • This video demonstrates the procedure for basic (50 hour) service on the oil bath air cleaner on a Ford 1700 tractor.
I use "clean" waste engine oil in the oil bath air cleaner.

Ever have to change the headlamp bulbs, and know how the wire clips go back on them? I can't find any info or videos to get my lense rings back on after i fought to get the retro fit LED bulbs installed.

@@alanspangenburgjr2429 No, never done it. There are instructions for replacing the headlamp bulbs in the operators manual, but for reassembly it basically says reverse disassembly.

Is it possible for the air cleaning to be clogged causing the engine to not start? I have the exact same 1700, so far I have changed the oil filter and the fuel filter, but it's still not turning over, any advice?

Is the starter cranking it over and it not firing? Or starter not cranking over? If it’s not firing, more likely it’s not getting fuel. Start with bleeding the fuel system. If it is the air cleaner (which I’m doubtful about) it should run if you disconnect it.

Try performing a spark test, sometimes your points can be corroded and cause ignition failure

Would this cause it to overheat if not cleaned?

@@RobertSmith-sh5fq No. It’s just an air filter for combustion air. If it were clogged, the engine would lose power or stall from incorrect fuel/air mixture for combustion. Overheating is the cooling system - dirty radiator screen, dirty/blocked radiator, insufficient coolant, and stuck thermostat are all possibilities. The 1700 needs every bit of its cooling capacity when working hard in hot weather. I frequently need to clean the radiator screen when doing any kind of field mowing in particular.

@@ProductiveRecreation that may be what it is. I’ll have to clean and drain everything. And figure out where the thermostat is. Thank you!
