MAILCHIMP POLLS AND SURVEYS // Add Dynamic Elements in Your Campaigns to Gain Feedback

  • In this video, I show you how to add Mailchimp simple polls and surveys to your email campaigns. By adding polls and surveys to your emails you add dynamic elements to gain feedback and opinions from your subscribers. Mailchimp polls and surveys can be adding to your emails by using special merge tags.
    Once you get to hang of it they are very easy to add.
    However, some caveats to be aware of. When subscribers click on a poll rating or survey answer they are taken to a Survey Landing Page (located within your Audience settings). The Survey Landing Page is a no-frills "thanks for voting" page. The problem is that if you have more than one survey or poll question in your email, each time a subscriber votes they'll need to go back to the email to click an answer to the next question. Keep that in mind when you create your polls and surveys.
    Also, please note in this video I'm not referring to the new Mailchimp Surveys that came out earlier this year.

      You can use stand-alone Mailchimp Surveys. The surveys are not embedded like the merge-tag polls and surveys. Here is a video on it - ruclips.net/video/jAyzAsuFXxs/видео.html

    Is there a way to then download the survey results in a manner where the answers are attached to the person who responded? Example: I want to find out in which state my subscribers live. I ask the question in the survey, one answers with Alabama. Can I then download a cvs file that says "John Smith - Alabama"? My end goal is to update their listing in my database with their home state. Thank you.

      Not these Surveys but the more formal Surveys found in the Audience list navigation has a nice summary dashboard for the survey results, contacts who took the survey, and you can receive a daily summary.

    hi Larry, thanks for this video. How to direct people who submit a survey to another landing page?

    • @LarrySnow

      Unfortunately you can not. Perhaps try the more robust Mailchimp Surveys (completely different than this survey/poll system) for an option like that. More info here - mailchimp.com/help/create-a-survey/

    Hello Larry! Great video! I wanted to ask if there is any way of creating a classic automation or customer journey that has "a click on a specific link (CTA) on a Landing Page " as a trigger in MailChimp? This CTA is actually a file download. Many thanks in advance! :)

    • @LarrySnow
      @LarrySnow  3 года назад +1

      Hi Florian, a specific link trigger is only for email links. For segmentation on the landing page use tags.

      @LarrySnow  3 года назад +1

      @@user-xj3ed3xn2z No link tracking option on the landing page. You can only add a tag to someone who fills out the sign-up form.

    • @user-xj3ed3xn2z
      @user-xj3ed3xn2z 3 года назад +1

      @@LarrySnow Ah alright! So that means if I want to add a tag to a contact, this contact needs to fill out a form providing the email address. You can't tag someone as "marketing opted-in", just by the contact clicking onto a CTA or link within the Landing Page? Thank you very much for your quick reply, will definitely share this channel :)

    You cannot test the poll (landing page) unless sending the campaign, right?

    • @LarrySnow
      @LarrySnow  Год назад

      Hi Melanie, thanks for your question. Correct. You may see a message in your test email that the Poll is not yet active because the campaign has not been sent. You can, however, send the campaign email to yourself (i.e., via tag segmentation) to verify the poll and results page work correctly. Then you can replicate the campaign email and send it out to your contacts.

    • @LarrySnow
      @LarrySnow  3 года назад

      They should work in the free plan. You'll need to use the Classic Email Builder as the merge tags won't work in the new email builder in beta.

    Hi Larry! I set up a poll in a customer journey email and I can't seem to find the report for it or segment my customers after they answer.
    I set up an out 10 rating poll in a customer journey with the intenion of then sending different kinds of emails later in the customer jounrey depending on their rating.
    So if they rated their experience w my website as above 6 I'd ask later for a google review in an email, and if they rated low they'd skip that.
    Can you help me work out how I can use my 'rated 6> in the poll' segment of people I have now. I can't seem to put them into a customer journey or automation - I've only worked out howt to put them in a segment.
    And now they're in that audience segment (it automatically updates which is great) I can't get them to automatically be tagged to maybe use the tag trigger method for the customer journey.
    This is very frustrating - is there no good way to use the polls, segments and journeys together?

    • @LarrySnow
      @LarrySnow  2 года назад +1

      Hi Melissa - I've replicated your scenario, and I can share in your frustration. There is no way, that I see, to add a segment to the Journey. You may want to voice your frustration with Mailchimp Support. The workaround I found is to create a Custom Classic Automation and edit the filter by segment or tag option, choose your poll segment, select when to send, etc. create the email. Start the automation.

    Is there a way to resend a survey to recipients who didn't click through to the survey and complete it?

    • @LarrySnow
      @LarrySnow  3 месяца назад

      This is not the case with this type of survey/poll, as shown in the video, but with the upgraded stand-alone survey feature, as shown here: ruclips.net/video/jAyzAsuFXxs/видео.html. Then, you should be able to create a regular segment of your audience that was sent the link to the survey in an email, opened the email, but did not click a link in the email. In fact, I believe one of the options in the regular segment menu choice is Poll or Survey activity, which would be even easier to segment.

      Hi there, thanks for the question. I'm not sure what issue you're experiencing, but I've just tested this in the Mailchimp app. You'll need to copy and paste the survey or poll code from the sample code into your campaign as I did in the video, then tweak the questions/answers. Here's the link to copy the sample code -mailchimp.com/help/send-a-simple-poll-or-survey-to-subscribers/. Note: you won't see the poll/survey displayed correctly in the preview mode; however, if you send yourself a test email, the poll should display correctly.

    Hey Larry! First of all I wanna say thanks for all your content, I love all your videos! You're amazing!
    Second, I'd like to ask u a question! As you may know, mailchimp offers you the possibility to create a Website with them, so I did. However, I wanna add a cookie banner in my site and I tried to follow this article ( mailchimp.com/help/use-cookie-banner/#Next_steps ) but is impossible for me to follow their step number 4 ("Manage Site menu, click Cookie Banner") as I don't find any Manage Site Menu neither Cookie Banner. Do you have any idea of how to do it?

      So I did a quick poke around - I do have the Cookie Banner and Manage site. I got to it by first going to your Website dashboard within Mailchimp (the end of the URL should be /websites/dashboard/). I clicked on Edit Site (I guess a did one a while ago) . On the next page I see Manage Site on the left (On Desktop). I can change the styles and pages, and right below those options I have the Cookie Banner options.
