Happy Tuesday guys! The wait is over and we can finally talk about how the reborn Toyota Land Cruiser drives! We should also be getting a hold of one for a longer period soon and we'll be able to talk more about how it drives on the road in our follow-up review! Stay tuned for our full review on the redesigned 2025 Camry posting in 2 days! Lots of great Toyota content coming up very soon!
Why did other reviewers get to drive it on road?
Love that retro boxy look with the modern twist … they hit a home run in my opinion
@Brian_Eugene_Lee fair …. Honestly I don’t blame anyone for feeling that way… sad to see the V8 die
A lot of people are complaining about the powertrain and the price. Have you priced a loaded Jeep Wrangler? It’s the same price with a comparable hybrid system.
Some people can't think beyond cylinder count lol
You act like $70k is normal or a good price for a wrangler, you are why dealers markup so high because of suckers like you
And even jeeps aren’t reliable 😂😂which folks have a point that price range with a TURBO 2.4L😂😂come on now if you’re TRULY into vehicles you know damn well this ain’t it
@@miguelvega7769 Jeep not being reliable has nothing to do with the style of powertrain, but rather from being made by Jeep. That company hasn't done anything remotely reliable since maybe the 4.0
I think that’s because these vehicles have become accessories for many people. 4Runner, LX GX, Land Cruisers. They’re mall & coffee shop hunters nobody really takes them off road
This thing is actually cooler than I thought, might be a better buy for headroom over the 4Runner
Read it and weep, Naveen. Toyota forever!
😂😂😂
Naveen wishes he owned something this nice. His aspirations ended with his 1990 Camry. Lol
Naveen knows his 2004 Mahindra is way better than any Toyota.
@@beri232 😂
Who? Never heard of her.
Your ability to retain all of this information always impresses me.
This is an excellent video and you do such a phenomenal job… I really appreciate and enjoy watching this channel❤
It's so cute when he said "8 inches is actually not that much" but again, we are talking about ground clearance here 😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Geh! 😅
I have a 21 Land Cruiser black on black bought new and i consider myself very lucky to own one.
Sinse off-road trails never look as difficult on video, it was helpful that you talked through the process of what the car offers and why it makes the challenges easier.
Absolutely love these! Since they aren't making the FJ anymore (sadly), at least Toyota has this to offer!
The FJ should have never been discontinued
@@dreese4277 this is the FJ this is not the outgoing 300 series
This is your new FJ. More bloated and way more expensive.
The car is beautiful but $70,000 has me thinking that’s why I switched over to Lexus
I will just buy the 4Runner
Same power train with tacoma, too. Doesn't make sense why it's $20k more than the tacoma.
@@G_dantaco pricing came out. It's not that much more
70K is Defender / GX money. And I’m a Toyota fan.
Once again, a very detailed video. 👍🏽❤️ Waiting for the next FJC before we make our decision. But, we'll keep the LC on top of the list.
Wow last year you could get a top trim GX for 70k
Elephant in the room: you can get the GX premium for less than the Land Cruiser mid trim optioned to match the GX as best as possible and even then, the GX gives you the turbo V6 and a more luxury feel. It's not worth it to spend $70k on a lesser Toyota when you can spend $66k on a better equipped Lexus
@@user-vx7vi3vq1c The new GX 550 has the same liftgate as the Land Cruiser, and honestly premium fuel is not a deal breaker to most people, especially when you're investing in a luxury vehicle. The rest of your comment is purely subjective, therefore I can't comment on any of it because it's your opinion.
It’s always been that way too. Why buy a clapped out 4Runner when you could get a GX470 or even a GX460 back in the day for more or the same price.
@@elonsus9747nah 4runners aside from TRD PRo never crossed with the GX. But I will say people are crazy for buying the cheap, slow 4runner when a used GX with low miles costed roughly the same amount.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 Yep. That’s what I mean.
Except I prefer the interior and exterior design of the LC. The hybrid setup also makes it an interesting choice for short daily drives
I really hope they work out a more elegant solution to the back. Having the remnants of the 3rd row configuration and this multi-step Frankensteined looking battery bank in the back is pretty inexcusable for a $70k car that's been in development from scratch for a decade. I really love this LC, but hoping if I wait a year or two they'll work out better solutions. I'd probably buy one either way, but really hope that gets sorted out.
i'll be buying santa fe and will save a ton of money so i can buy a used car to replace my wife's aging mdx. i love the car, but i just can't stomach 70k+ cars.
Those santa fe's look great.
@theredline if you had the option would you select the LC or GX550 Overtrail+ ?
I want one.
Great review...
Some people don't care about EV, or FSD, they just enjoy driving.......
This rebrand and cost-cutting of vinyl seats is crazy
Finally, the first person to note that there are no heated rear seats!
great review
I wish Toyota would have an option to remove the cool box. I personally would rather have space to put my junk.
I believe the cool box is only with the premium package.
As a 4Runner only owner for that past 20+ years (current ride is a '15 TRD Pro I bought new) if I were in the market for a new vehicle I would probably take this over the new 4Runner. I really love the looks.
Want it!
In reference to your wish for the rear windshield wiper being hidden under the spoiler because of the way the glass hinges might be the reason why it’s located below instead. It may add too much bulk so close to the hinge point it may affect the balance. Or perhaps it’s more complicated to mount up there since there are two hinges, one for the glass and one for the hatch it just becomes either cost or packaging issue or both.
I prefer everything about this over the new 4Runner. Once you match specs the price isnt too far off
What octane fuel does it take ?
Good question
I think Im going for the new 4Runner TRD sport premium. Thanks for your great thorough reviews your are in the top three car reviews in my opinion.
Really nice car! I'm impressed!
Thanks for the review
When the sale date?
They are on sale at dealers now!
Does it have acoustic glass side window?
How’s the steering? The Honda Pilot feels too light in my opinion and I’d like to know how the steering compares to that.
Can I purchase this without going to dealer? Then YES.
The GX
If one can afford it hands-down yes the GX!
@@jonathanratliff4780 it’s basically the same price
Why u couldn't drive it on road n other channels are? Im confused your the best
$70K with a prop hood, no panoroof for something meant for the outdoors. To me it's either go cheaper with the 4runner or ball out for the GX. Forcing the iForceMAX hybrid engine is a deal breaker for me cause it takes up some storage space.
Prop rods don’t go bad. A glass pano roof reduces chassis stiffness - not great for an off roader.
Volcalstone, the vehicle is clearly not for you and also remember they selling 5000 of those in North America so that alone should tell you something. When people buy the LC it’s mainly for prestige so for many it’s out of the window. The fact that people hate to hear is hybrid will become more popular unfortunately and if your current vehicle is working well then you don’t need to trade it or sell it.
@@user-vx7vi3vq1ceverything goes bad
Can't see out of a pano roof with a rooftop tent anyways, plus those roofs generally ruin the capacity of roof racks.
@@user-vx7vi3vq1c It's a body on frame vehicle, I hope it isn't relying on the roof for chassis stiffness. I am still against pano roofs though.
Good job, very well done. I kinda prefer the console set-up of this over the Tacoma/4Runner's. The small knob and buttons for the crawl control are in a great location. And even though the screen is slightly smaller at 12", it sems to fit the dash better. The big 14" in the Taco looks odd and out of place.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the lower belt line and increased outward visibility that most ALL SUV's DONT have anymore 😏
Nice job Sofyan & I buy 2022 Altima then this.
It looks like a Land Rover Defender.
Should given the 6th gen 4runner this look
How does the land cruiser have the same power train with the tacoma, but is priced at $20k more???
I wish they had added a rolling-down window and some Aux pre-wired switches...
I guess we'll have to wait to see how durable these turbocharged 4 bangers will be. Turbos consume oil and requires exact maintenance.
How does this compare to a Geo Tracker?
How does yer ma compare?
Back seat floor height looks too high.. I noticed his legs weren’t flush with the seat and feet were sort of angled.. looked a bit uncomfortable for rear seat passengers
not sure....does this version have the premium package?
This car is gorgeous!!!!
Toyota nailed it except for the rear-end - Gives me 2010s Jeep Patriot vibes
@20:15 “all these cameras that I have…”; are they standard, optional, after market, or what? Additional info here would be very useful! TIA
It’s like the Mustang II when it replaced the original Mustang back in the 70s
I've seen some new landcruisers with the panoramic sunroof is that not in the states.
Is this the same platform as the new Lexus gx 550?
Yes
I am surprised the hybrid only gets 400 miles. I guess it is because of the weight of the vehicle. But I am happy about the hybrid combination.
Ground clearance on a vehicle with a live axle is the bottom of the diff. The only way to increase that is tire size. The clearance numbers vary day with companies like Subaru that measure to the highest point in the center with independent suspension. Real world this is still more useable ground clearance that an IFS/IRS vehicle thus the uselessness of ground clearance numbers.
interior looks economy class, esp. for 70 Grand.
Love the looks! Damn rhst acceleration is insane! Thats the same as Tesla model 3 RWD and this is a BIG gas SUV!
Vogt Ranch, cool place.
This isn't a real Land Cruiser. This is just a new FJ Cruiser. Europe and other regions get a real Landcruiser. It looks completely different.
If you mean by real Land Cruiser as in the 300 series. No Europe does not get the 300 series and has the same SUV as us being simply called “Land Cruiser”
Also I disagree with you fully. Sure this is the smaller Land Cruiser Prado instead of the Land Cruiser 300. But it’s hardly smaller when you compare both vehicles’ dimensions. Like the Land Cruiser 300 it has the same TNGA GA-F platform and many of its off road components. The vehicle has more torque than the 200 series which is more important for off roading than hp. Heck they even stated during the global unveiling of this vehicle that its off road prowess is on par with the 300 series. To me this is a fully fledged Land Cruiser and worthy successor to the 200 series here in the US.
Also the FJ Cruiser while not being called “Land Cruiser” was still associated with the name paying an homage to the FJ40 Land Cruiser from the 60s. The vehicle is also based on measurements reasonably smaller than the Land Cruiser (Prado) which is shown in this video and you’re claiming as a new FJ Cruiser
Several other creators were able to get some on-road time, maybe it was an earlier day than you arrived? Automotive Press, Matt Moran, etc all got both the off-road trail time and some highway mountain driving. 🤷🏾♂
usdm doesnt get the panoramic roof :( wish it did
I get it.. it's no comparison to the outgoing 200 series.. despite the hefty pricetag, the 200 series was perfect.. but this 250 is growing on me... Too bad it doesn't cater to bigger families
Toyota please give us a Trailhunter trim in the LC that matches the 4Runner!
Is this “mid-trim” really the high-end trim once the First Edition is gone?
Excellent question of which I have no answer maybe somebody else does
LC250 or 4Runner?
I like the square lights more. I think the design is too hard edge and square for the round lights to look good with the design.
this is a Toyota land cruiser Prado LC 250
I think may prefer the new 4Runner over the new Land Cruiser! (I'd never thought I'd say that!)
Toyota! Vey nice, however i would love one non-hybrid
No hood struts 😂😂 almost 70 k these car manufacturers are getting crazy
對沒有油壓桿有點扯
Can’t believe sofyan brought up TRD off-road Land Cruiser. Lmao 😂😂
I want a CD player!
Money is everything
Lets go places
That is gonna sell no problem.
I think it looks better than the 4Runner, but that price seems kind of high for a mid size.
Volume button is ugly. After thought location.
6:52 the brake lights doubling as the turn signals is unacceptable and needs to be illegal already. In other markets, the lower section is a proper separate amber turn signal. Why do manufactures continue to unnecessarily downgrade the taillights on USDM vehicles to ambiguous and less safe and effective all-red things with unacceptable brake lights doubling as turn signals? It's nonsensical.
New 4 Runner looks wayyy better inside and out & probably will be cheaper & has similar features. Hate any vehicles with cheap black fender flares, especially if it cost over $50k
Definitely
The new 4RUNNER TRD Pro and Trailhunter have black fender flares. 😂
4Runner looks great but definitely looks very “busy” in design, almost too much imo. Both great vehicles though.
would take to body shop to get color matched
@@zonapainter I will wrap it with Matte
American's didn't know that previous gen was land cruiser 200 (v8) (platform of lexus LX 500. This land cruiser in lower class car, known as land cruiser150 (Prado) like lexus GX
не правда
It’s not lower class. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is one of the greatest off-road in the world world.
What Lower class? Prado exists in other parts of the world and serves as the LC. Just because we American had it because it doesn’t mean it is the upper class. There are places in the world besides US.
@@jml9550 ok, then lx 600 and gx550 is same cars? I just want explain to reviewer he calls this blue car replacement of TLC200 that incorrect.
It's not even Prado. This is just a new FJ Cruiser. They just slapped a Land Cruiser name on it to boost sales.
Looks like what would’ve happened if they skipped the 200 and modernized the 100 series
Im getting annoyed with these youtuber reviewers literally doing the same reviews on the same vehicle on the same day as if they were all given the same script
They basically are. They're all invited to a single press event allowed to drive the vehicle. And then the embargo is lifted on the same day. If they don't praise the vehicle, They won't be invited back to the next event.
There are exceptions. savage geese seems to care about their reviews and are not invited to these events.
@CalvinHikes I like watching reviews to pass time here and there, but when I actually care about getting real info, Savage Geese is the only channel I need.
You're watching reviews created at an event out on by the manufacturer. You won't get different individual reviews until press cars go out. Or deliveries start happening
My .02, need body colored molds. everything else is perfect.
that hitch cover gotta go 😂
It’s so annoying that they have a better mpg begin but made the gas tank smaller so you still end up getting the same range… smh
Most TNGA-F platforms (at least with the hybrid powertrains) have a smaller gas tank. likely due to packaging for the battery and whatnot
@@chibbyylolregardless, a letdown
Agree / range is a letdown.
@@DD-dj4jrit would be such a better selling point if it kept the same size tank as the 5th gen and being able to go 500-600 miles on a tank
Give local Toyota near me is marking up over sticker all product except 4cyl Camry…..and service is a nightmare….and I don’t like the GX550 (2-row lacks real 3 zone A/C and pleather only) despite superior Lexus service / sales….led me as a LC200 owner to a different brand
Choosing between this new Land Cruiser and the new 4Runner is almost impossible. If you thought Toyota was raking it in before, wait until the LC and 4Runner are both in showrooms.
This is great , but how about the on road reviews? These things will be mall crawler use mainly.
Toyota said there wasn't enough time at the event to drive this on the road while were there. We expect Toyota will send us one back home shortly and we will film an updated review with on-road driving at that time.
The ultimate Japanese hybrid off-road SUV, so far
For rough and tough go for
Toyota
For luxury and exclusivity, and
IF YOU CAN MAINTAIN THE CAR
Go for Porshe macan or
land rover
Why do i keep seeing 2 completely different front to this car?
Kind of feel like all auto makers are gonna adopt the lower more powerful engine philosophy and then drop bigger engines in a couple years. Making these newer ones obsolete
My first auto was a 1987 Toyota Xcab 4x4 pickup. It was my dream truck and I have been loyal to the brand ever since. Until now, Keep your hybrid BS!
It's a Landcruiser. I don't think they will have TRD trim. The R is for racing (fast) and this vehicle is not about it. TrailHunter is appropriate if they have a trim.
0:01 If you ask "Japanese offroad icon suv" to Japanese people, though it depends on generation, some will say Mitsubishi Pajero.
4 runner trail hunter is better.
These reviews are mostly irrelevant now because cars, suv's, and trucks are so expensive and interest rates are so high.
Hmm I'd say they're still relevant. Yes vehicles are expensive and interest rates are high but....Toyota and other brand are having record breaking sales, folks seem to love spending lol
Still like the new GX over this or the new 4runner. This looks too much if like...Ford made the Land Cruiser.
