Very nice introduction to some fine looking speakers......ESB is the brand I w went with for my build....The 8000 was out of budget for me but the ESB 5000 was in my range.....I am so very excited to have them and looking forward to getting them installed .....Cant wait to see the finish of this build and seeing how it comes together. Excellent intro and I'm sure the 8000 are going to be awesome. GO TEAM ESB💥💥💥💯💯💯

Hello, and good day petter! Amazing video, and as always love to see beautiful audio gear . So, I have heard of ESB audio before but I never actually heard one . I actually have the STEG SS KiT . And so far It looks amazing as well but have not hooked it up. Now, im wondering if I did a good decision on buying the steg set . Lol. Maybe I can also buy these later for another project. Lol. Anyway have a great day .
Where are Zapco amps made now? I remember them from way back in 80s...back then if memory serves me correctly they were like a 2 piece amp where power supply and output selection were separate with a big jumper connecting the 2....just what I remember in demo vehicles back then
i have always known neodymium magnets are magic, but only recently discovered neo combined with untreated paper cones is even more magic. You dont have to spend a lot or chase brands, just pay attention to materials. These have a metal dust cap which is even more magic, but not essential. just look for speakers with neodymium magnets and untreated paper cones . I have compared neo mags with metal cones and paper, paper is magic. Dont even bother with ferrite magnets. That box is pretty incredible.😄
So have you compared drivers that are exactly the same but with different magnets to come to this conclusion? cone material is a different issue, if a magnet has the required flux density and stays within weight and size requirements it will sound the same.
@@damiendegrasse This is what everyone keeps saying but after testing a huge collection of speakers, it just doesn't carry through in the real world. I personally do own 10 inch JBL paper which are ferrite and I do like them. But for 1.5in to 5 inch size, neodymium just has no competition. I have a pair of Nakamichi Soundspace 11 speakers which I swapped out the huge original ferrites mids for neos, and the soundstage went from slightly thin to infinitely holographic. There is just an unflustered quality when the volume gets really loud, and it seems like you can turn the knob forever. There is this channel called Life in Speed Mike Angelis, he AB tests mids with both types, you can just hear the sound go from veiled, to clarity. If materials really didn't matter people wont still be buying alnico either. But I think its great that neodymium has not been hyped up leading to crazy prices. I would love to hear about your experience with same drivers different magnets, or to see any AB test videos you can share on this topic.
@@penangtv6108 Of course I just typed a massive response which disappeared before I could press send (should have typed it somewhere else, silly) The A/B comparison on that channel doesn't really do it for me, most of my experience comparing drivers is in home audio and moving slow, more into the boutique car audio drivers. I have tried so many drivers: Accuton, Dynaudio, SB, Scanspeak, Eton, Wavecor, but it's never a choice made purely by magnet type, only by listening impressions and right now my driver collection is probably 50/50 neodymium/ferrite. The advantage of neodymium lies in the ability to design a compact motor to avoid back reflections into the cone and also improve cooling, this is leading to some amazing midrange designs, but those are almost always in the $300+ category, and it's really the design that makes these drivers so good. This is definitely an advantage to neodymium, so overall I would have to say it can make a better driver. I would not, however, be able to recommend neodymium drivers as a general rule "because they sound better", I know there are plenty of drivers in the same price range that sound better or worse with both types of magnet. Neodymium has taken over in the boutique driver market because innovation demands it, the price is significant though, but the vast majority of people are not shopping in that price bracket, so it would be unfair to say " don't bother with ferrite" because you will miss out on some truly awesome drivers!
@@damiendegrasse Thank you for your reply, its very interesting. Yes I now keep an open mind because I have been thrown unexpected curve balls in my collecting journey. Hi Peter how are you. It looks like you’re more impressed by the ESB set than the Focal three way. But what’s your opinion when you compare these with the Accuton which is three times more expensive?
Well, first lets see what the ESB 8000 is like in a car, then i’ll be cleverer. Also, Focal midbass drivers need lots of airspace, like IB install, whereas ESB & Accuton should get a box. Accuton mid-tweeters are actually cheap compared to most “high-end” speakers as they truly make such difference, that you can not match with anything else.
@@pssound9749 off course, that make sense. Are there more expensive then the proven Accuton’s? I have heard that some companies which I won’t mention by name, ask ridiculous price’s for mediocre speakers, but I see that as a joke (Critical Mass CES 5.1 😂😂😂, I just said I wouldn’t mention a name). But maybe off topic; what’s your favorite subwoofer for a closed enclosure? Still the Aliante or are there close competitors? By the way; don’t misunderstand me, don’t trying to get free information like that prick a while ago. Because of my car, can’t go IB, so I’m still sticking to my two Aliante’s in my car and know that you are also fan of these.
