Great videos and I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I'm looking to run a similar setup with the 9six9 wheels and I have stock struts with tein lowering springs I'm planning to use. Its fantastic to be able to see this setup. We will be twins after I repaint mine white.
Great video i have a '95 stock suspension with the JDM/euro OE spec Diamond Cut 15"s, they look great but fancy white 17"s (car is white) so useful vid, subbed😊
My old lady neighbor has a 1985 MR2, she said she would sell it to me for 2k. Its her daily driver but she just bought a new miata. Ive always loved MR2's. Never owned on though. Love your body style. That was my dream car in high school
I can relate ,I saw a red sw20 when I was in high school and always wanted one from back then. 85’s are getting popular so maybe you should snag for that price.
@@bitingantz thanks for responding. I think I will grab it, been debatingfor a month or so now. Its pewter/silver. Definitely a pretty cool car. Have a good day man
"+35 offset as well." +35 all round, 5mm spacer rear, 7mm in front. Effectively, +28 (8.5j) front & +30 (9j) rear (scrapes guard still). So don't get so much positive camber for the rims if you want to avoid spacers
Hello You are the best so I am seeking for Wheel guidance I want to add 18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear 225 tires front, 255 rears Stock suspension didn’t fit front wheel. Will adding Tein basic coilovers work or simply adding 7mm spacers to stock suspension work Thank u in advance
If you have stock suspension the height of the front wheel and tire combo is likely too tall and rubbing on the spring perch. If you add coil over that would solve the problem but depending on offset of the wheel you may rub side wall of tire on coil overs. I don’t have much experience with 18’s but would probably recommend 18’s on the back and 17’s on front for a double staggered setup. 18’s on a stock suspension makes for a very high ride and not aggressive look.
An alternative to spacers is to max out your negative camber on the strut by pulling the strut tops inboard as much as possible, then using camber bolts on the hubs to add positive camber up to your preferred camber amount. The positive camber will push the wheel away from the strut tower. After doing this your ride height will also be a few mm lower, which might need adjusting. There are advantages to each strategy, but I'm just a lazy SOB who doesn't want to deal with spacers every time I pull the wheel off to check bolts.
I hear ya. I tried adjusting the top hats alone and didn’t work but I stayed away from camber bolts as i figured it would mess up alignment and I didn’t want to go to a alignment shop for that.
Great video Ryan. I love both of these but man that '93 fitment with no wheel gap at all looks so sweet. It looks like it's a good inch lower than the 91?
I was looking at the Cosmis MR7's but those are 18x9. Would those work on stock suspension or would i also need to get coilovers? I did see someone fit them but i'm just confused as everyone says 17x9 is better.
@@Historimo 17*8 front with 215 40 17 tires and 35mm offset with stock suspension is fine, for the rear 17*9 with either 255 or 245 40 17 tires and 35 offset will be fine.

Haha thats awesome, thanks for watching and appreciate a sub.
Depends on offset. 18’s will work but on stock suspension but car will look very high. I would recommend coilovers or lowering springs .
Hey mate, great informative video! What tire size are you running on your enkei fronts 17-8et35? cheers

So don't get so much positive camber for the rims if you want to avoid spacers
The challenge is finding a wheel set you like with the offset you need. So sometimes you just can’t do it without the spacers.

Definitely more aggressive on the 93 and gapped right to my taste. Appreciate the feedback.

Gonna get an mr2 soon and im already planning wheel specs. Will a 17x8 +40 work on the mr2 on stock fenders? Looking at the konig mrk1 rn
Depending on your suspension you may need spacers.

Hi
How much is the 91 lowered on the stock suspension

What ET do the rear have? +35 infront, ET +22 in the rear?
The rear on the 91 mr2 is +35 and i have added a 5mm spacer that makes the offset +30. It does not rub on the stock suspension with lowering springs.
@@bitingantz Super, so 17x9 +35 works both front and rear with stock suspension, just want to doublecheck haha
17x8 front, rewatch the video

Hey man. Thats why we got options. Not a fan of rpf1 though.
