I own both, an old one (serial number 2550) and the new "classic". They do sound quite different in the details to me! The old one has more mid frequency and a bit more available gain, but also colors the sound more and sounds not as open. The new one sounds really transparent and neutral with the Treble and Bass at noon. The new one also has a much better footswitch! Thanks for making great pedals Xotic

I believe the 2003 version was discontinued when version 2 came out. They brought it back as the classic version for their 20th anniversary and possibly because there's a demand for it. I know I hate the look of the V2 with its mirrored-finish.
