My journey was kind of similar, I tried quite a number of coaches both local and online before I found KTVA. I signed up, and all of a sudden I found myself making progess I never thought I‘d be able to make. I‘ve stuck with Ken‘s method since, and for me it works like no other method I ever tried. Thank you Ken, for creating your course and sharing your vast knowledge and skill with us. Keep up the amazing work, it is SO much appreciated.

That is funny about the PX store in Huntington Beach. That was off Adams and Brookurst I believe. When I was a kid in the 80's I bought my Atari 2600 there. I lived in Fountain Valley. I am native to that area for 46 years then moved to Fort Worth 10 years ago. Memories!

Thanks for sharing those stories Ken!!!
I love those interviews with Gabby…
Yup, definitely more then one answer…
The technique I guess depends on, what the actual track & it’s separate parts a calling for..
But also it’s important to know your instrument from top to bottom, so you know which one is the particular one you need to use to get you where you want to be headed…
I’m one of those who loves to combine several techniques!!!
    Some of my favorites are:
“BC of course” there is no escape from BC love it or hate it…
    Of course Belting also!!!
SLS another favorite of mine….( highly recommend it)…
Belting & SLS kind of go together for my case..
I also like to apply scat here and there for the style of jazz…
    Then vowels mods…
But when it comes to the breathing part, is where it gets confusing…
Each of them are calling for a different type of breath & support…
Yup the missed information comes from the fact that, people think some terms that are similar to others happened to be the same thing…
    Far from the true!!
There is a reason why there are names for everything…

Hey Ken! Love your content! Quick suggestion. I’m 55 and been singing literally since I’m five. How about doing a video to get your expert perspectives on the male vocalist and the aging voice…. how it changes and what you can do to preserve it? Also, would love to know what your thoughts are on straw phonation to keep your voice healthy. Thanks again for all your tremendous insights and may God continue to bless you and your family with continued good health and happiness. Rock on!

Having attended the PowerTrip music festival this past weekend, it was apparent that Bruce Dickinson has kept is voice in tremendous shape. I wish I could say that about two of my other favorites on the bill who shall remain nameless. It was painful to listen to. By the way, Rob Halford, despite his age, was still hitting powerful mids and impressive highs.
Ken, we know that age effects the voice, but do you think that some singers who seemingly have "lost it," can ever recover despite their age?

    Hello!
First of all, you're most likely right. The method of Bel Canto singing is probably one of the best if not the best way to learn how to sing correctly and in a healthy way!
Being a talented singer is also helpful!
But hard work will most of the time beat a lazy talent!
I myself also have a Baritone voice.
Nobody taught me how to sing adequately and I had to become my own teacher. I recently started to learn about all these singing techniques...I wouldn't consider myself to be a talented singer. Whenever my singing sucked, it was because I didn't practise enough!
Whenever my singing was ok or even somehow good, it was because I practised well.
In my opinion almost every human can sing, every human who is capable of singing and does so, is actually singing...well, the singing technique could be bad, unhealthy and people could say things like:
Hey, this person sounds like sh#@!
but there will always be a few people who will listen to this "bad" singer because they think something like:
    He/she has an "interesting" voice,
He/she probably likes what he/she is doing, he/she has a good taste in music...etc...
Dimash Kudaibergen is an exceptionally good singer.
You are a great singer! Many of your students are much better at singing than the average singer(by average I mean people that just sing for fun, that don't have a vocal coach, that can perhaps sing a few songs in a satisfying way(from a certain genre) but that don't necessarily know how to sing songs from another genre in a "good" way...
I don't know if you were a very talented singer but you definitely worked very hard...You achieved all these things because you were focused on becoming a great singer,
You had dreams but also goals...
I myself would like to be able to hit the lower notes better...I just played notes on my guitar and I tried to sing the same note...this way I figured out that my total
vocal range is from F#2 to F#5...
But not all of these notes sound good! Realistically my best sounding range is from G2-max.A4...
Most singers want to hit all these high notes ...I wish I could hit notes such as E2, D2 and C2.
It is important to focus on singing techniques and the quality of the voice instead of focusing on the total vocal range...and, yes, singing better is more important than hitting all these extra deep or extra high notes...
Dimash Kudaibergen is probably one of the Top 100 singers (who are alive right now) that I know of.
But I am convinced that you would beat him when it comes to singing Rock music and when it comes to singing with distortion!
Recently I started listening to a lot of Japanese Karaoke singers.
    Some sing really well!
And I also listened to a lot of other Japanese artists.
My favourite female Japanese singer is Akiko Kanazawa.
The Art of Bel Canto singing...
You seem to be a good teacher!
I like listening to certain Rock, Pop, Folk etc... music...but I definitely don't have a "Rock" voice...singing with distortion is also super difficult for me...I prefer these "calmer" singing styles!
Thank you for uploading this video!
    Have a nice day!

My bel canto teacher told me never to use my chest voice! Later I realised that if I did that I would never be able to sing rock. So, after many years of study, I now use a lot of my vocal resources, but I still struggle with the passagio, and I think maybe that is because of the way I was taught, so sometimes I have an open throat but I lose a lot of brightness. What would you recommend to go from that kind of technique to great rock singing?

    • @kentamplin

I think you should give consideration to taking my course. I teach bel canto, but with an emphasis on fully developing both your chest voice range and your head voice range, and ultimately blending them into a variable mix of both qualities. KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com/
