To Matt's rejoinder about "never a dull day" I'm reminded of H.R. McMaster's comment about his stint at Natioal Secuity Advisor; "The place kind of uses you up"
I LOVE being able to see you, it is SO much fun! Abe looks the least like his voice sounds, I imagined him looking more like Richard Schiff (Toby Ziegler from West Wing). I thought Cristina would have blonde hair, but is just as beautiful as I imagined!! Really LOVE you all!!
So good to see you all❣️ Normally I listen during my workout. The opening theme gets me pumped for my workout 💪🏾 But today I’m watching y’all while eating oatmeal 🥣
It was thoroughly entertaining to listen to this podcast a day late, after RFK Jr. was indeed selected for HHS. Abe said, “Suppose he does pick RFK for this role, which is….thinkable…”😂
Speaking of Tom Cotten, Matt suggested a couple of weeks ago that Trump was a better option than Harris for people who found both distasteful because such as he would be staffing the Defense Dept and other important cabinet offices...
(I have to do this "as a" thing, even though I don't want to). As a practicing attorney, I was speechless, literally, for about 30 seconds when I learned of the pick. Then I remembered he hasn't practiced law maybe ever. Turns out he "practiced" for less than two years before jumping into Congress, and that was a nepo job if I ever saw one. I don't care he didn't go to Columbia (ahem), U Chicago Law (ahem), Yale or Harvard, but at least be a seasoned and preferably good lawyer. He cannot be either. I have been litigating and trying cases for a little over 20 years. I've tried maybe 50 to 75 cases--that is not a lot. He's likely tried 0 to 1 case. Maybe. The Attorney General of the United States needs to have tried at least as many cases as this little ham and egger, and he can't say that. He is unqualified in every sense of the word. Trying to keep an open mind here, but I have to admit--this is hard to understand. On many, many, levels. Not on my bingo card.
The best analysis I've heard on this is that Gaetz is a sacrificial animal. Meaning, it'll be a lot easier to confirm someone like Pete Hegseth if they change out Gaetz for someone more traditional in exchange. Not sure if they bring it up in this podcast... just start listening.
@@cedricwilford They discussed it (maybe not this episode). Think the consensus was Trump just doesn't think like that. The DOJ destroyed his first term. Not saying it is justified, but good Lord is that the one position I would put some place loyal. If you really want to justify it, Eric Holder was a hack ("Obama's wingman"). Garland is a hack. And Gaetz is a hack.
I’m not sure John is right about the powers of DNI. The issue isn’t broad reaching authority to reorganize our fleets and armies. The question is, does she have access to all of the IC’s reporting, and can she do whatever she wants with it? She doesn’t need to reorganize the CIA’s structure to be able to pass intelligence to malign actors. That said, if that’s something Trump wants done, he’ll be able to do it whoever he has at DNI - so long as they’re a lackey. The issue with Tulsi is that she may be an independently motivated lackey and may want to go beyond what even Trump wants to do in terms of changing whom we share a lot of intelligence with. And if she does go beyond what he wants, will he care enough to take notice of it and rein her in?
He is already out of them. There was a DOJ investigation but they ultimately decided not to charge anything. Congress investigated him and probably found tons of slimy stuff, but they are not a law enforcement agency, so beyond tarnishing his name even more, no ‘legal’ issues will arise.
I have seen all the participants speak on video or TV-some for many years-so the voice/look isn’t jarring. But I am looking at bookshelves, and I’m guessing no one is displaying Robert Caro’s The Power Broker! It’s in a box in John’s book warehouse somewhere, along with thousands of celebrity bios and memoirs. Have no idea what the painting is behind Abe. Nice to see physical copies of the magazine tho.
Thx! Attempted to leave you bit more here on your blog comments, however when I went to look up something to be sure I got it right ...your site erased my written comment ... perhaps next time around. Best - Mordechai
Question: there’s growing concern that the GOP could lose control of the House if Trump keeps poaching members. To what extent do you think he’s more focused on making changes at the executive level rather than fighting for a legislative agenda? Maybe Trump figures that the Senate majority gives him enough power in the legislature to prevent anything too radical to reach his desk, and thus is able to focus on remaking the executive branch.
We're still getting to link your names to your faces. It would be great if you could keep the names on screen throughout the podcast, or at least when one of you goes full-screen. After listening for about two years, you'd think I could tell who was talking just by the voice, but I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that the only voices I can match to names are Mr. Podhoretz (probably because he introduces each show) and Ms. Rosen, who is almost always the only woman. But I'm sure I'll figure out Abe, Matthew, and Seth shortly.
NONE of you look like I expected. John looks like Darth Vader without the helmet. :-) I imagined Seth to be younger-looking and beardless. Matt seems what Id think I guess. I imagined Abe to be more like Sam Elliott. Christine is a great blend of beauty and brains, though!
He’s counting on a recess appointment so he can serve for a year, then run for Governor.

Can you please give me your definition of Zionism? As a non-Jew and dedicated listener,I find myself unable to give a clear definition while in a conversation. Thank you.
*Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people legally & morally have a claim to sovereignty in their historic homeland, the land of Israel.* Initially, that included in the cause the mission of encouraging Jews to emigrate to Palestine/Israel, to build a society there, and to work toward an eventual state… Once that actually happened, Zionism is simply believing in this extant, successful self-evident fact. Zionism is NOT a colonial movement-it began as a movement to help the Jews return to their homeland, that they were mostly removed from… and it is now simply supporting that singular movement of ANTI-colonialism, i.e. bleeiving Israel ahs a right to exist, and supporting that continued existence. Despite what Leftists & other antisemites try to claim, being "anti-zionist" is NOT fighting racism or colonialism-being anti-zionist is effectively taking the position that, "No, I may believe all other indigenous peoples (and some who really aren't) deserve their own state-but not the Jews." One might almost wonder why the term "zionist" should exist now, as no other state needs to continually justify its ongoing existence, and neither should Israel. Yet I think the word is now used more widely, more proudly & aggressively than ever, in direct response to the horrific anti-Israel rhetoric that has exploded in the year since the depraved Palestinian terrorist attacks of Oct. 7, 2023. In real-world talk, I believe zionist has simply come to mean 'wholly unapologetically pro-Israel'. *The Jews, btw, are indeed an ancient "people"-far more legitimately than many peoples who've been recognized as sovereign states in the last century, or are widely thought to "need" one, such as the "Palestinian people" (invented in the 20th century in response to the rebirth of Israel) who regularly commit & support terrorism in their brave fight for sovereignty… in the ancient historic homeland of the Jewish people.
You guys, love you but, there is getting to be too much cross talk. Makes it hard to listen, especially when someone is coming to the crescendo of their point and someone else jumps in before the finish. Just a suggestion. Thanks.
Guys guys guys! Please! Look at Christine ! She looks like she’s interviewing a group or Easter Europe refugees in 1988. Today Matt is looking sharp, but the rest of the guys? Dress for the job you want! You are now on camera! As for the content? 5 million stars as usual!
I must say Christine is considerably more attractive than I had imagined. Alas, the rest of you are unsurprisingly disappointing (I'm afraid I already knew what Jpod looks like.)

Best Podcast ever.
Seeing you after years of being a listener is freakin' me out!
JPOD and crew are the best.
How complimentary can a married man be regarding Christine? Intelligence, sense of humor, looks!! Perfect!
You're not giving Continetti enough credit.
@@innersquirrelMatt is just wonderful in every way. Something for the mind, ear and eye.
This has become one of my favorite podcasts, and getting to watch the participants as well as listen to them is a bonus. Thanks!
Anyone else wonder what is in Christine’s mug given her perfectly timed sip at the mention of Matt Gaetz 😵😂♥️🥰
Anti vomit concoction
To Matt's rejoinder about "never a dull day" I'm reminded of H.R. McMaster's comment about his stint at Natioal Secuity Advisor; "The place kind of uses you up"
This is such a great podcast with super smart conversations. Thank you to all five of you for your insight on so many topics. I am enjoying so much.

Love ❤️ you guys! But RFK jr will be a THE transformational nomination…
It was thoroughly entertaining to listen to this podcast a day late, after RFK Jr. was indeed selected for HHS. Abe said, “Suppose he does pick RFK for this role, which is….thinkable…”😂
Im good with all the picks except Gaetz. That one is truly bizarre.
Love the YT channel!
Agree with John about Pearly Gaetz. Tulsi will also have a rough road.
Love the show. An issue I had was I could never tell who was talking... several of you, at least two sound like John. This helps!
For me, it was always remembering which voice is Abe and which voice is Seth.
Love your podcast. Just recently discovered you.
Where is Hope For The Best, Expect The Worst?
They probably can’t afford the rights for RUclips
First time seeing what you guys look like. I always assumed Abe was at least 90, his voice sounds much older than he is.
Love the show!
A day after Trump won, it was said a Republican Senate would rubber stamp his cabinet picks. Trump's response "Hold my beer."
I would like to hear about Ozempic. Seriously.
I'm sorry Gentlemen, only Christine is better looking than I had imagined! (Though John does look young for his age.)
😍😍😍😍😍
Can you simultaneously release this with the podcast?
MIght want to work on the timing of the exit bumper music... :)
Speaking of Tom Cotten, Matt suggested a couple of weeks ago that Trump was a better option than Harris for people who found both distasteful because such as he would be staffing the Defense Dept and other important cabinet offices...
Christine is so pretty
I miss the theme song! I have to listen to the audio only first to get myself in the right mood....
RUclips would Flag the video for copy-write if they used it very sad. Response helps the algorithm
@@Tomk6286 Thought so - maybe they should go with one of Eli's AI songs :)
Tulsi is great:)
What’s the painting behind Abe?
I can guess 2 out of the 4 whip count - Collins & Murkowski when it comes to possible floor votes against Gaetz and Tulsi.
Gentlemen . Ask your wives for advise regarding presentation and looks. Matt improved from last episode.
What exactly is the painting behind Seth?
Best comment was Christine warning about mentally ill people fleeing to Canada
