      No, no. Amateur divers can only dive to a depth of about 30 meters at most, and even professional divers can dive anywhere from 40 meters to 50 meters at their deepest point. In other words, the depth is shallow, and it is not the ``deep sea where the human body is exposed to extremely high water pressure'' as mentioned in your comment. Diving deeper than that is not possible unless you wear a pressure-resistant diving suit, not a rubber diving suit or dry suit like the one shown in the video. Additionally, even at shallow depths, there is a risk of decompression sickness, so the maximum depth, dive time, etc. are set in advance before diving, and divers must abide by these rules

    貴重な画をありがとうございます。また希少なお仕事に従事されてる方々を守ってほしいと常々思います。東京に会社がある、というのは意外でしたがこういうモノづくりにはやはり日本の信頼性は揺るがないと信じています。手作業手作り、おそらく細かなオーダーメイドにも対応されてるのだろうと思います。またこれを着ての作業も専門知識が必要と思うのでこれに付随した話も聞いてみたかったです。興味深かった。

      In the industry they are typically used in high current areas due to the extreme amount of lead weights you wear to counter act the possible buoyancy.

    • @theexchipmunk
      @theexchipmunk 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@philipshane768 And because of how durable they are. The whole helmet area that also coveres most of the shoulders works also as protection because in a high current area getting hit by something is more likely. This type of helmet is much less likely to suffer problematic damage too while offering a lot of protection.

    Fascinating video, such an interesting process!
    A note to the translator, that’s a ‘drysuit’, not a ‘wetsuit’. You could also call it a diving suit, or, once you had specified once, just a ‘suit’. (Please don’t see this as criticism, your translations are excellent, and very useful!).

      Another interesting historical drysuit is what China sells as "fishing waders" or "wader suit" (by brands like Donuawaders). Unlike this one, they are even made from unlined pure latex rubber without helmet. Some have chest entry instead of dryzip and they are no overly pricey.

By the way technically it’s not a wetsuit but a dry suit or a diving suit as it’s designed to keep the wearer dry and warm by wearing clothes under neath it for insulation.

    Absolutely orsome, I am amazed that diving Equipment is still made this way amazed. This technology must be at least a hundred years old, well if it's not broken don't fix it. Are these suits Taylor made or are they made to a standard sizes. A diving suit like this must run into thousands of pounds or yen to buy ! .

    • @iatsd
      @iatsd Год назад +3

      The suits are made in standard sizes. The largest suit I've worn was for someone up to 192cm tall and 110kg. They do come bigger, but I've never seen one. The real limitation is the helmets which, AFAIK, only come in two sizes. If you happen to have a large head or long neck then you are simply screwed for fitting.

  • @redpillcommando

    • @iatsd

      Very much still being used simply because they work. There is a high school in northern Japan that teaches deep sea marine engineering and they use these suits (these exact suits) to train the diving students, along with more modern suits where necessary. Only high school of its type in the world.

    • @TheOitzu

      Dry suits that marry to a modern free flow hat like a desco are used in hazmat diving...other than that we use Kirby Morgans with a wetsuit/hot water suit or even compression shorts under overalls depending on the water temperature. You do everything you can to NOT use a dry suit. They suck.

    • @TheOitzu
      @TheOitzu Год назад +3

      @@A_Lemon_Party as someone who dives dry and wet as a hobby: why do they suck for working? Do they tend to leak? Is it the seals rubbing to the skin?

      @@TheOitzu
      Just a comfort factor. Company owned ones tend to leak and fit poorly, I have never owned my own though. Diving every day for six, seven, eight plus hours in dry suits is just way less comfortable than diving with a hot water suit, homemade or store-bought...the more comfortable you are, the more work you get done!
