    "Made in Japan" is usually a quality seal itself. They're cooking the imperfections out with an electrode and then they weld the holes. It's so satisfying to see it all come together with precision. Even the XXL crown nuts can be spun by hand.

      There are many variations of foundry sand. Some use oil, some use bentonite and resin, green sand is sand, clay, and water, but all become rock hard. They even test the sand itself in the form of dog bones in a machine that measures tensile strength.

    • @first_namelast_name4923
      @first_namelast_name4923 11 месяцев назад +12

      One of many recipes is to mix sand with sodium silicate in water solution (called water glass or liquid glass) when molded CO2 gas is applied and the result hardens. You can wait until it reacts with CO2 from atmosphere. It can also be hardened by microwaves or by mixing in another chemical - ester.
      Other recipes mix sand with oil (you can see that in documentaries from Pakistan, or when Alec Steele visited foundry in Great Britain recently).
      You can also use resin binders, clay and water ...
