Congratulations, Thom! 🎉 I remember watching your first video and having a handful of us subscribers. That is the best part of Lego, you get to tell and create your own story! Always make time for play! All the best!!
@ I guarantee there isn’t a Lego fan alive who doesn’t wish they had a grandpa like you around! Not just because of the awesome Lego “inheritance” that your granddaughter will enjoy one day, but the storytelling and kindheartedness that radiates out of you too! I’ll continue to look forward to your videos. Thanks for all you do!
Congratulations! Glad to see the channel growing and successful. It is well deserved. I remember many times being taken out to get a new book or more often going out with my mom to her favorite thrift stores or to yard sales being able to pick up a comic book that I never read before. One of the fun things about the comic books was a lot of times. It was just a random issue for two in the middle of a serialized story so my imagination had to do a lot of the hit heavy lifting for how the characters got to where they are and where they were going because at that time it wasn't easy to just go online and read the rest of the story like it is today. I think that imaginative elements in a fascination with the characters and desire to know more about them is a large part of why I fell in love with so many of the characters and the medium of storytelling through comic books itself and have remained a big fan well into adulthood.
Imagination! It’s why it’s so important to offer the arts in schools and why I was so happy to have had the opportunity to teach drama to middle school students for twelve years. Storytelling! Both the stories of others but even more important learning to tell the stories of ourselves! Thanks for sharing part of your story. I loved reading it. Cheers!
Great question! I spent 24 years in Hollywood either in front of or behind the camera (actor, writer/producer). In addition I was a middle school drama teacher for 12 years, and my classes did lots of movie making. I use very, very simple tools: I record "live". I used to use Ecamm Live, but recently switched into OBS which is free. I record into my MacBook Air and the built in 1080p camera, nothing fancy, in front of a green screen just for a clean look (I'm still dialing in the OBS chroma key settings). I try to light myself well. Then I edit using B roll from a good iPhone with nice camera, then iMovie editing. My work flow includes Canva for graphics. Simple. But I do have sophisticated audio: I use a Rode Rodecaster Pro II with Broadcast quality microphones--I think that makes a huge difference in the experience for those who view the videos. Thanks for asking! Enjoy!
Congratulations and can’t wait to see you hit 100k congrats on your continued success
