This is amazing, Lou! Fantastic! Ok...you did it again bringing forth a '66 Cadillac, Eldo Convertible to boot! Nice looking car and I can understand his love for it. Yes, I had a '66 Cadillac, purchased it after selling my 2 owner '68 Mustang from San Diego, in 1988-89. However, mine was a 4 dr hdtp Calais, one owner (I was 2nd) with only 57K miles, loaded like a DeVille with all paperwork/window sticker, 1st owner traded a 1956 Cadillac for it, in Norfolk Va. I just wished I had kept it in 1990 when I was moving back to CA from VA. But already had another vehicle to trailer and a moving truck to drive. 1966 is my favorite.

Thanks Lou. You're a good sport to do this on a hot day, but please be careful! The car is beautiful. It was the last Eldorado in this format before going over to the personal luxury coupe in '67. Your photography is excellent as always. From the back, the car has a Lincoln influence to some extent. I like how Cadillac kept the 'essence' of fins at the top, starting at the just in front of the rear quarter panel. '64 the end of obvious fins, but not all together at all. As far as the a/c goes, you DO need it unless it never gets hot, convertible or not. Not everyone is going to want to put the down the top every time they go out, and as you can vouch for, does not magically lower the temperature when desired.
Hi Rob, You're right, I'll have to make sure I get out of the sun/heat. Appreciate the kind words on the photography. Enjoy reading the details you notice. You're welcome, Lou
The stacked headlamps appear to be straight up on the Eldorado. The other models, like the Coupe DeVille, the top lamp is slightly forward of the lower lamp. Giving the appearance of leaning forward. A great design. Unless I’m thinking of a different model year than 66’.

Back in 1966 I worked at a resort in northern Minnesota. The owner had purchased a black 1966 Deville convertible with red leather. I think it had a black top too. I washed it for him by backing it up to the shoreline, and using a bucket of water, sponge, and cotton rags, and a chamois. Gorgeous car. The red interior looked much better on the car.
I can just picture Boss Hogg from The Dukes Of Hazzard driving this around Hazzard County smoking his cigar and with a set of bull horns as a hood ornament!!
I’d say that one year after this the bean counters started taking over and the quality started going down although they were still great cars through the mid-70’s. But this is a pinnacle for GM.
Just stunning, the classiest Cadillac period. A friend had an identical black/white except not Eldorado ‘66 rag here in the UK 20+ years ago. Spent its life on Ibiza and had original 12k miles. Sadly it suffered an interior electrical fire and was mostly destroyed.
My mom and dad had a 65 sedan deVille . I loved that car. 65 and 66 were very similar. 66 was more refined in the headlight stack, and the taillights had a chrome bar that ran vertically through the center of the tai light. Carl Rossi's 1966 Eldorado is gorgeous! The styling took a dramatic change for the 1967 model year. However, the '67 Eldorado is, to this day, my second most favorite car of all time, only bested by the 1966 Olds Toronado. I would gladly own either one, but the best I could do was to own the plastic model kits of both 😢. As always, thank you Lou (and your 'production team') 👍
Beautiful car with an amazing black white combination. For and original car the interior was pristine. Would have liked a more detailed description of the engine. Was looking for A/C. That would have been the cherry on top of the sundae.
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) In the description of this video it's listed "We're looking at a 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible in Black Paint with the Factory 429 CI V8 engine, and an automatic transmission.", Lou
Dream Car I love everything about it! I had a 68 Fleetwood Brougham only 15,000 made, it was long, the length on this 66 El Dorado is perfect, I had a 93 El Dorado it was 1 out of 150 that year that had the prototype Northstar engines before they went into mass production it had a slick black paint job like this one ❤
I love it I love it I am the proud owner of a 1979 coupe DeVille but the 66 to me is one of the most beautiful bodies ever made I would trade mine in a heartbeat for one and I really like my car.
my late maternal grandfather had a 1968 Cadillac Eldorado hardtop Coupe in black with red trim when my mom and her brother Joey were kids until 1971 when he traded it for a 1972 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Coupe. later he would have a 78 Cadillac Sedan Deville and grandma drove a used 1981 Cadillac Coupe Deville when I was a child in mid-late 80s
I would have to look up the exact production numbers but in 1966 Cadillac stamped out about 18,500 Series 62 & Eldo soft tops, while Ford make maybe 3,500 Continental convertibles and Chrysler a mere 633 Imperials. In spite of these numbers a pristine Cadillac like this beautiful El Dorado is far more valuable at auction than its two competitors. How the hell the white leather upholstery stood up so nicely confounds me. If that car ever goes missing first place to check is my garage... :-)

I wish Lou would've shown more of an up close look at that white upholstery in this old Caddy so we might have been able to see the grain in better detail. Great videos on this channel, though. I appreciate his attention to the ID plaques of these vehicles but I think a closer inspection of the materials that were used when these cars were built might be called for in some instances. For example: when and where does the nice, expensive leather end and the invariably, for Cadillac in the day, cheaper supposedly look-alike vinyl begin. Just a suggestion, Lou. Minutia like that, to me, can be telling as to how seriously each company dealt with the challenge of keeping costs down but still somehow showing some attention to detail and quality. Keep 'em coming, brother, whether you pay any heed to my inane tittering or not.

Always, always, loved the Cadillacs of the 1960’s. When I was in school a Pontiac Cadillac dealer was right across the street. They always had a bunch of used ones in the front line of the used section and I’d be admiring them every day at a distance from the playground. Thinking one day I’ll have one but never did. Today Cadillacs are not Cadillacs😞 just another GM product.
What's odd to me is the Eldorado Convertible doesn't have that fabulous thick chrome over the doors and B pillar that the lesser DeVille model does. Usually the Eldorado had more bling than the base models. I wonder if the chrome from the deVille would fit on the Eldorado.

When I’d see one going by, it was like looking at the Queen Mary floating by! Awesome!

Hi Mike YQR, High praise :-) Lou
Beautiful car with an amazing black white combination. For and original car the interior was pristine. Would have liked a more detailed description of the engine. Was looking for A/C. That would have been the cherry on top of the sundae.
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) In the description of this video it's listed "We're looking at a 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible in Black Paint with the Factory 429 CI V8 engine, and an automatic transmission.", Lou
WOW! What a beauty Lou…..incredible condition!
Hi Craig, Happy to receive a "WOW!" from you :-) Lou
THAT'S A FABULOUS RIDE.
High praise :-)
@lou ... super great car sir - great video production! THANK YOU!
Hi Peter, Happy to read you enjoy this "super great car" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Thomas, Happy to read "Dream Car I love everything about it!" :-) Lou
In my opinion the best good looking Cadillacs are the 65 and 66 El Dorados! very nice car!
Hi Pablo, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Cadillac :-) Lou
I love it I love it I am the proud owner of a 1979 coupe DeVille but the 66 to me is one of the most beautiful bodies ever made I would trade mine in a heartbeat for one and I really like my car.
Hi West Peterman, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read you're enjoying your Cadillac, Lou
@@loucostabile thanks for replying.
The black and chrome with white interior is a winner big heavy lead sled rife as smooth as silk
Hi Larry, Happy to read you this "winner" :-) Lou
Be right back Lou. I love a body by Fisher. White interior? A must.
Hi Gail, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Now that is a beautiful car.
Nice :-)
my late maternal grandfather had a 1968 Cadillac Eldorado hardtop Coupe in black with red trim when my mom and her brother Joey were kids until 1971 when he traded it for a 1972 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Coupe. later he would have a 78 Cadillac Sedan Deville and grandma drove a used 1981 Cadillac Coupe Deville when I was a child in mid-late 80s
Hi Courtney, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Grandfathers cars :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

First Eldorado that I have seen without air conditioning.
Hi Fred, Thank you for sharing, Lou
Love the '66. So elegant and well-proportioned. Then came the '67 - a slap in the face.
Hi Jay, Happy to read "Love the '66" :-) Lou
I want it ...I want that car! Incredible
Hi Elaine, Hope you're behind the wheel of the right car for you soon, Lou
They should call them “quarter mile” panels on these old Cadillacs.
You're right.
Absolutely beautiful
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
I now own my dad's '66 eldorado convertible. One of 2250 eldorado convertibles in '66, 21?? in '65. I also have a Body By Fisher book for the car.
Happy to read you have a 1966 Eldorado too. NICE!
Hi Steven, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
You could set up camp in the trunk. It's huge!!
:-)
When Cadillac had status. Not seeing the air conditioning compressor. Usually Eldorado's had air conditioning.
Hi Robert, Happy to share this car with status, but minus air conditioning with you, Lou
OH,BABY that is one nice car they do not build them like that.Sir you have one fine automobil

@@loucostabile Anytime!
Completely amazing 🤩
High praise.
Hi steeldan dansteely, Happy to share the details with you :-) I'm reading your insane tittering, Lou
When Cadillac was truly The Standard Of The World, last year of the true Cadillac was 1968.

The Cadillac of Cadillacs.....
NICE!
I can see why he won't part with it. What a beauty!
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Awesome Caddy!!
High praise :-)
Always, always, loved the Cadillacs of the 1960’s. When I was in school a Pontiac Cadillac dealer was right across the street. They always had a bunch of used ones in the front line of the used section and I’d be admiring them every day at a distance from the playground. Thinking one day I’ll have one but never did. Today Cadillacs are not Cadillacs😞 just another GM product.
Hi Trip Reviews, Happy to read you loved the 1960's Cadillacs :-) Lou
Awesome car!
Nice :-)
Beautiful!!!
:-)
Wow absolutely gorgeous
High praise for the looks of this car :-)
What's odd to me is the Eldorado Convertible doesn't have that fabulous thick chrome over the doors and B pillar that the lesser DeVille model does. Usually the Eldorado had more bling than the base models. I wonder if the chrome from the deVille would fit on the Eldorado.
