I do not own or claim to own any of the footage or music in this video. Just sharing one of my favorite movie scenes from one of my favorite movies. x)
Can we take a moment to appreciate the assistant, Matthew (Thomas)? Guy was loyal to the end; he even climbed a damn mountain for his dead boss to finish the bucket list. Respect.
I couldn’t help but think that if Edward didn’t send that guy to "take care of it”. That girl may have ended up worse. Not just his daughter being in that, but the granddaughter.
My parents and I watched this movie together. As Ed Cole kissed that adorable little girl and crossed off that item on his list, my dad (a grizzly bear on the outside but a complete teddy bear on the inside) said, "Now you're gettin' the point!" To this day it makes me tear up when I think of his reaction. R.I.P., Dad.
@@scottjohnson7450God rest your dad’s soul in Jesus’ name. I lost my dad in January 2023. I miss him and I know exactly how you feel. I’m happy that you have fond memories of him. Stay strong, my sibling. I hope you two find each other in the future with Christ as eternal siblings.
it was Carter who started the list that Edward fished out and then added some things. To which, the "Help a total stranger for the good" was the acknowledgement that Carter "saved his life and knew it before I did". Mount Everest was also Carter's idea. To which likely Edward had Carter's ashes placed atop and eventually his own via Matthew ( Thomas)
After watching this movie for the first time with my dad, he looked at me and said “we need to make our own bucket list” and I responded “what would be on it?” He said “the top ten rollercoasters around the world!”. My dad died 7 years ago. We managed to do 3 of the 10 before he passed. The first time watching this without him broke me. Especially the moment when Edward said “this wasn’t meant to be a one man deal”. This movie does teach you to find the joy in life. My dad taught me that too. I miss him everyday
It's kinda slow at the start and it was really only from the latter middle section to the end that it became really good. I personally wasn't that bothered by it due to the heartwrenching, sad yet beautiful ending it has but I can understand how some people might be bothered by it.
Reviews have never meant anything to me. All I care about is a decent story plot and actors who are willing to do a good job and these two went beyond that.
This is the most touching and eye opening movie I have ever see or will see. We should all have a bucket list and hopefully it will include some of the most simple joys we find in this life like a smile in the morning or a kiss last thing at night, and the knowledge that through all of our mistakes we did manage to do sometning that was right.
Any of you remember Nicholson's character in "Carnal Knowledge" (about 35 years before this movie), and how he reacted when his little girl's picture appeared during a slide show of his sexual conquests? The scene with his granddaughter here, given that Nicholson's character here is a much wealthier shadow of the guy in "Carnal Knowledge", is a beautiful comparison, especially knowing that he became reconciled with his daughter/her mother.
Honestly, in my humble opinion, having lost my dad to cancer, if I'm not mistaken, "To witness something truly majestic" was at the top of the list; and it could apply to ALMOST all the other items in the list, including his beautiful granddaughter. ❤
The hardest part for me is being such a fan of both Jack and Morgan knowing some day they will be gone. That is going to be a hard day but I know I’m going to remember the times I watched their movies and laughed and cried hopefully that day does not come for a while
I can't ever talk about the scene when he kisses his granddaughter, then crosses off "kiss the most beautiful girl in the world" without getting emotional because I always think of my granddaughter.
This was my first "adult" movie and by that I mean prior to this I only watched Disney or animated movies because I was about 6 or 7 but my parents figured it would be a safe enough movie to take me to. God was it an emotional moment. Even as a kid I remember being glued to the screen, taking in every last minute. It was my first introduction to the concept "bucket list", my first Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman movie, it was a literal EXPERIENCE. I came out with a lot of new ideas my childish mind didn't completely understand but now at almost 30 and seeing that I still remember every last minute of it, this movie molded something in me that made me who I am now and I think I owe my admiration for cinema to it
Honestly this should’ve been Jack Nicholson’s last role. Had he finished his movie cereer with the bucket list, it would’ve been a fitting send off to one of the greatest actors of all time. We love you Jack Nicholson, hope you’re enjoying retirement.

Nancy, either you have some kind of social disorder or you are on something. Either way, it’s completely inappropriate to try and claim that little girl like she is your own. I’m willing to bet that you’ve hung around a hospital nursery or two to try and snatch up a newborn.

I absolutely love how Mathew finished the list in honor of them Great Story It hits me every time seeing that scar on Edwards Head Last time I seen my Father he had that same scar
Bucket List ends Sad. Second Hand Lions ends oddly Happy...after that movie & understanding what that pair went through you can't but laugh with them after they died trying to fly a biplane through a barn door. But pleasant similarities between them.
What Morgan Freeman quoted about the ancient Egyptians o top of the pyramid profoundly changed my interactions with the people in my life for the better,& I'll always be grateful .
It took me 50 years to tell my friends I love them. Now - they are sick or laugh worriedly. But I always end my talk as we are older now and coming to our close - “Who loves you Tommy, Ron, Billy? Bobbo does! And??????? Who do you love?” Then the giddy - don’t want to be gay banter or admit a man can love another man begins.

Well its implied that Cole did it before him. That Edward took up the ashes of Carter and now Matthew is taking up the ashes of Edward.
I hope he got all of Edwards money 😂

2 Hall of Fame actors, that's for sure.
Absolutely without a doubt
He kisses his granddaughter and then crosses off “kiss the most beautiful girl in the world” that scene always makes me feel emotional
Yeah, well I'm a grandpa 10 times and that scene makes me cry like a baby!
The last part when he crossed the "help a total stranger" it all fell down on me. They never knew their bucketlist would be for each other. 😭

"He saved my life. And he knew it before I did." Read that line and don't tear up. Betcha can't.
You are right, could not help it.
Spot on
This movie was one of both these Gentlemen's best
Amazing - and I'm glad I got to see it.
God bless both of them.
I didn't tear up
I can't. It's so impactful and true.
Even at aged 70, Jack was showing us why he was still the best actor in Hollywood.
“Find the joy in your life Edward” god that got me
This is the most emotional movie I ever saw and still today it lets me cry.

At the risk of sounding corny, this movie inspired me to find the joy in my life.
Good for you sir......hope you find joy and cherished the memories forever
Inspiration, grace and wisdom sometimes come when you least expect it, we all need to see it, when it appears
Not at all corny. I trust you continue finding joy.

Love that Matthew/Thomas, and Edward's daughter and Granddaughter are sitting in the second row.
I totally didn't realize that until now. Thanks for pointing that out.
What I couldn't understand was why this movie got mixed reviews when it was so beautiful that until now it still tears my heart 😢

I personally wasn't that bothered by it due to the heartwrenching, sad yet beautiful ending it has but I can understand how some people might be bothered by it.
You have to have a soul and I don’t mean just a soul, you have to be in sync with all that is good to feel the burn that’s soul
Ending is ryshed bad
This is why you shouldn't worry about what other people think about a movie, go make the determination if its any good with your own opinion.
