Beastmen totally rock!!! Before Rogue Trader came along, all we had was warhammer fantasy, which was no bad thing, and while most of my school friends were into orcs, goblins and dwarves, i really fell in love with beastmen, and ended up painting loads in my early teens. Fastforward 35 years and i find myself painting those figures all over again, buying so many beastmen and minotaurs, and having such a blast painting them up! Have even considered creating my own channel to show off those obscure 1980s metal minis but i know nothing about video editing or anything, so who knows, maybe one day ill take the plunge!
I've always liked the Beastmen arm look, he turned out great and this may be the new army I pick up since my Vampire Counts and Skaven aren't in the new edition...

You might be able to skip some steps for sure, remember that units are all ranked up, so you could do this for front rows and not worry about the middle guys so much?
As the proud owner of a very large and very traditional beastmen army, fully painted (but based for AoS), I’m excited to see them for another system (they’re really not very good in AoS) When I painted mine, I did the base coat and ink but then highlighted everything too, definitely worth doing. More of a dry brush than a highlight really.
Yeah something like that would be good for these guys, there’s just too many to spend a lot of time individually! So cool to hear people looking forward to the old world as much as I am!
i have an empire army of around 290 models. So far I have painted over 140 and it´s driving me crazy. I want to have everything perfectly painted, even if it´s just standard infantry.
That's a big goal man, take it easy with yourself but you will be so proud at the end! Just keep breaking it down in to small goals to achieve and you'll get through it

How did you know to base on 25x25? Were they not already on 25x25 pre Old World exploding? With the announcement of basing changes, do you feel pretty confident that they did not get moved up to 30’s?
Just started to paint my first miniatures in 20 years. Your videos are really helpful, just one thing to make them better - would be nice if you summarize all paints that you used on one list in video or description. Thank you for your work!
In the mean time, I had just built a Lizardman army as Warhammer died and AOS sprang into being. Never really got painted though my colour scheme was going to be based on the lizards I have running around the backyard. Australian skinks have a copper skin drifting to grey as you look down the body. It's kind of detailed but would look stunning if I manage to get back into it.
I can't wait for my Army of Bretonnians to come out. I was thinking of a quartered scheme with a Light blue and white across the whole army, the only Knights I'd get creative with are Question Knights, and Grail Knights since I'd keep them each knight being different, it would make sense to me for those Knights.
Another post now that I am clear headed! Looks great, now I realize the color of the original prime lol Could you show us a nice Solland theme for Empire?

Hey Andy I’m really struggling with using contrast paints, I’m liking your method for the Beastmsn here, and thinking of using it to do mine with a few changes, my question is, do you use any medium to thin your contrast or you use straight from the pot ? Yes there will one, I’m running through the 9 start armies first then will be going back again to more tomb kings models -I have a chariot tutorial up already for them!
I just hope that they make minotaurs a little more viable. Great video and the beastmen chief you did a vid on fits perfectly on a 25mm base so it should fir on a 30mm square base just as well. He is a great addition to any Beastmen army
Gratzo on 40k! I absolutely LOVED beastmen, it was such a shame they never got an 8th edition army book, they deserved it. All those farm animal (goats/cows/sheep)/human hybrids being evil gross carnivores was such a cool juxaposition and they were dope.
Another great video! I am certainly looking forward to Brettonians and Beastmen! On review, I suspect I'll use this scheme to the point of the flesh shade, with possibly some layering of the shield and perhaps the horns? Its a hard call, but this time the final outcome just seemed too "clean" to me. Thanks again for the inspiration!
Great guide. When it comes to the multitude of infantry models that horde armies have, I always find simpler is better. When I did my Clanrats back along, I used a speedy drybrush method to get them done, then paid a bit more attention to elite units like the Stormvermin. Kinda tempted to have Beastmen as an enemy army to my Bretonnians.
Great job Andy, a good looking scheme that isn’t to complicated is definitely what you want for an army project like this. Would be interesting to see the extra steps you might need to do on the Minotaurs as they are such a focal point in the army.

How is your finger healing, Buddy? As a Heretic at heart, I approve of your choice of baddies. I'm a bit torn as to which army that I want to tap into when things first come out. I'm leaning towards the High Elves, I've always wanted an army of them... but Orcs and Goblins were my very first models in Fantasy so I do have a bit of nostalgia for them. Eventually, the heretic in me will go back to Chaos in whatever form will corrupt my particular fancy at the time. XD
Maybe try one or two single models and see how you enjoy them! Goblins and High elves are on opposite ends of the painting spectrum haha My hand is going great, thanks for checking in!

No, just primed with a flesh coloured primer, nothing 3d printed, just old stuff! glad you enjoyed the video!

You covered up most of the work you did on the skin. Could definitely save a lot of of time across 100+ minis by adjusting/skipping a few steps.

That sounds so cool, you should try some test schemes to see how it will work!
