The three painters that inspire me the most in this hobby are yourself, Fletcher from Tabletop Tactics, and Jay from EoB. Fletcher is one of the most amazing artists I've ever seen. My jaw just drops whenever I see his work. You make everything seems extremely approachable and the results are seriously fantastic while Jay is just so infectiously enthusiastic that it makes you want to get out and paint something. Thanks for all you and the rest of the YT creators do for the hobby.
Great video, amazing work, I'm really enjoying the old world content. It's so nice to see you shout-out other creators and properly credit the inspiration for the work. Super wholesome!
Outstanding JOB!! You made this project look EASY!!! I have this model but haven't touched it because i really had no idea how to really tackle it?? It's such a Iconic piece, I wanted do it the justice it deserved. Now I THINK(that's the problem!!!) can pull it off.
That’s exactly what I wanted to hear! Iconic minis often go unpainted because there’s a fear around getting them done “right”- it doesn’t have to be crazy complicated! So glad you have confidence to paint yours now, let me know how it goes!
Great content as usual Andy! I’m glad you’re doing bretonnians as I’m starting the painting process on mine and needed inspiration. That green knight is definitely something of a model, I hope GW decides to do a reprint as eBay prices are out of control. Remember seeing it for sale at Warhammer world a few years back alongside a load of bretonnians models and god knows why I didn’t buy it😂
I will be honest i have no intention of playing old world, but you are the only channel i watch regarding old world, in a sea of people who obviously are only doing old world content due to a hype push, i feel you genuinely are excited about the old world, and keep up the great work and excitement!!
Thank you so much. And yes my live does come from a very genuine place. But I’m not that high and mighty. I did all of my epic content for the hype push so I’m not innocent in all of that.
I need one!!! I think you can give yourself a pat on the back, your The Green Knight on The Shadow Steed looks absolutely fantastic. I just wish I was on your level.
Incredible job! I hope they do a made to order on the Green Knight, I want one for my collection, but I also hope they do a redesign in plastic as well, would love to see what they come up with (but not until after the MTO!)
Fantastic work. I wonder if the tesseract glow would be better for the blade. I'm hoping that he becomes available again when the foot knights get released.
Wow! Simply stunning work Andy! Thanks for this inspirational video, I was always deterred by the detail on the Green Knight, but OMG! "The less super glue, the stronger the bond", you just explained a LOT of my metal mini failures back in the day. Sigh... well, at least I know now! Thanks again!
Amazing job Andy, this mini was the first one I painted to a standard I was so proud of that I showed it off to anyone that wanted to see, I even entered it in a competition at my flgs. So much nostalgia and still one of the most iconic mins they have ever produced imo. Thanks for making this video, twenty mins of pure joy watching you paint it with your enjoyment and pride in the process just come straight through the video.
I was just about to ask where you got your cork from when you said coasters from Ikea haha. I gotta get a bunch to boost my bases. What a gorgeous sculpt he still is this many years later. Gorgeous work! Also, a unit of grail knights dedicated to the GK, 'The Green Order' or something would be awesome
Easy banners, take a page from scale modelers: thick aluminium foil and then either the decals for the flag, or paper on both sides for freehanding. Easy to pose.
Oh wow. What an amazing paint job and the base you created was perfect as well. Such a fitting tribute you have done in doing this amazing piece. Love it. Also, have you any plans for more Middle Earth Monday videos?
Since I'm back in the Hobby of Miniature Painting is the Green Knight one of the Miniatures I must get my hands on soner or later, because it's a cool Mini and it might be something, that I can integrate in my Collection of Miniatures for D&D.
I'm not sure about the warhammer lore for the green knight but as far as depictions of real world mythology goes adding some of those seeds that look like in scale fall leaves to the base and maybe a little bit of snow effects to go with that very lush dark green spring grass and that longer pallor summer grass on the base could give you that 4 seasons vibe. Also even if you don't want the snow those fall leaves would make for some extremely punchy contrast with all that green.
I remember my original Green Knight. Think I followed a tutorial that suggested painting him silver first, then used green washes, which at the time was just Thraka Green, to bring out the details followed by drybrushes and highlights. I think I'll follow this video for my own if I ever get him for the army. I've just ordered the MTO Lord with Lance, the grail Paladin, and the two damsels as my first expansions for my Bretonnian army. I still need to decide which dukedom I'll be hailing from.😅
Green Knight is probably the best Knight GW ever created. I have tzwo but one is painted as my bretonnian General in mechrite red / bleached bone and i used the body and head from the second one for a blood bowl blitzer. Still have the horse though.
Nice paint job. Personally i prefer the green knights description from the wiki. which describes him as more of a grey greenish statue, with very intense green eyes. The Green Knight painted by gamesworkshop with the green swirls looks like a grannys table cloth 😅 "tinged the greenish-grey of weather-beaten rock, and many would mistake him for a statue but for the unnatural light of his eyes, burning coldly within the darkness of his helm"
No idea why but just realised I haven’t been subbed to you for a while I was wondering where your videos had gone for a long time dropped you a sub again mate great video love the colour
So question, you don't feel the need to pin your metal figures? I found that superglue aged poorly and did not talk to lateral pressure so much. I subsequently pinned all my metallics which have now lasted twenty years.
How did I miss this? Shame on me. Great job Andy. He looks stunning. Just got my made to order Green Knight in the other day and I can't wait to get started on him. Question for you, can you think of a citadel equivalent to that pistachio green? If not that's OK. I'm sure I can figure something out.
Really nice. I think the horse should be called verdigris. I wouldn’t do other knights in this scheme, it’ll make him stand out less, but maybe some space marines? “The Green Knights” could be a Dark Angel successor. :)
If it was me, i'd probably stay away from green for the other knights. So that this one stands out even more, as it should. Having said that... i know what its like when you find a new colour combination that just 'works'.
Yep your not the first to say and that makes sense. But then some other clever clogs said I should paint wood elves with this green. And now I’m going to do that.
@@MediocreHobbies Awesome thanks!! I'm wondering if you were happy with painting it with it all assembled or you think next time you'd paint in separate parts?
the fleur de lys on the reigns could be gold to add some contrast on all that green , and some purple on the armor veeeeeery light shade to make it stand out with a complementary color to that vibrant green...and i would have left the sword silver or instead of a contrast green i would have washed it with some mid green from valejo or citadel ...other than that....perfect ..

Stunning!!!👏👏👏👏The Green Knight was my favourite Brettonian character. His horse's name is Binky, same as Death's in Terry Prachett's books. 😂😂
Binky…… how did I forget that.
It's one of those rare sculpts that holds a 'less is more' scheme equally as well as a grown up thirty hour blended scheme.
Agreed 100%

I feel it is only rite. Plus his stuff is amazing and deserves as much attention as possible.
Great decission on the banners. This are more flawless than the original ones. Awesome job with the paint.
Cheers pal.
Iconic model. Great job 👍🏻
Cheers pal.
Fletcher is a painting beast. His Angron caught my eye initially. A very talented artist.
He really is. Such a nice guy.
Mike Mcvey made me fall in love with this miniature in the 90s, I spent decades without seeing a miniature as well painted as his green knight
The man is a god. And his knight was unreal.
Stunning results! That green was perfect. Cracking job Andy! Laura for the win tho with the banner 👍🏼
Yep it wouldn’t have worked without those banners.
Always wanted this guy when he was new. Awesome job.
