Absolutely glorious work! And Andy, RUclips is drowning in 40k content. I am begging you, any other games are much appreciated as a change of pace. Keep this up as long as possible.
Never fed up with Fantasy contents. This scratches the part of my brain that still lives in the early 2000's and aches for minis painted to this quality level. Your paintjobs are always awesome.
Great work Andy! Can't wait for the rest! Keep the Old World content coming, there isn't enough on YT. Love the channel and your painting style, thanks for the video!
I’m a huge fan of the Old World, and especially the Bretonnians, so I really hope you keep doing Old World and Bretonnian content! Love the videos and looking forward to more! Excellent job!
Very nice Andy, the Old World content is great because you are covering techniques that we will find painting our own figures irrespective of what 'period' they are for.
Love that you're keeping the Old World hype alive while we wait for GW to get the models stocked. I've always had an idea to do a Mousillon army, make it look a bit rundown and grimey looking, maybe throw in a couple of hints towards the vampire lore with shield designs or helmets etc. I just need to figure out how to make yellow and black work as a paint scheme.
This video is perfectly timed for me. Currently working on my Bretonnian army so will be looking for inspiration on colours! Also really enjoyed Lords of the Lance, such a good read! I’ve just started using Duncan’s paints too and really like them! Looking forward to day 2!
Excellent video! I look forward to more of them. I would personally recommend Purple and White as a scheme, I saw Vince Venturella do it and it looked great. Green and yellow could also look great
While I'm not into the game I'm absolutely loving watching you paint the Old World, so keep going. I'm getting so many good tips from you and my own painting has really improved as a result, so thanks!
Beautiful miniature and paint job. I am curious about how two identical minis painted in your style, one with wash/shade and one without, would look. Not on grail knights 😅but something cheaper and easier.
Great job Andy, interesting that you mentioned how long you spent on him, for me this is information I’d appreciate on most videos just because I sometimes get accused (mostly by myself) of being a bit slow but generally it’s because I’m looking at about six to seven hours a week average to work, so the time you have spent is always interesting information for me.
I know what you mean when you were saying about the tone. I’ve painted up 6 knights of the realm over the last year using all different styles of painting as I like using Bretonnians to try different styles and new techniques. Some I painted quite flat just with some edge highlights, some air brushed and some with quick scratchy volumetric highlights. I put them all together as a unit and they just don’t look right together, especially the airbrushed minis compared with the other ones lol think it’s best to stick to same technique/style with them going forward with me
Yeah I know. It’s so hard not to experiment when you’re constantly learning and lots of time passes between models though! Definitely find it easier to paint a unit together so I stay on track with the same techniques etc. I’m sure yours look great though. We always judge our own stuff harder than others will.
Would love to hear a tournament report of the event once it goes down. Would also love to see your full 1000 point list as that's the level I'm building towards with my Bretonnians to start with Old World with some friends. Love the old world content. Keep it up!
Amazing color scheme and execution! You might like to try to paint the rider and horse separately next time, makes it much easier, at least in my experience 😅 I also used to clip off the bits connecting the hooves to the base, in my opinion they are an eyesore on otherwise beautiful minis. The mini will still be stable if you are worried about that. Also good luck on the tournament. For sure your army will be the best painted one 😀
Day One of the Bretonnia crusade! This came out grate Andy, I feel like these knights are the best excuse for bright colors. Sometimes it feels like not painting an army in its "suggested color" is looked down on, but with knights the color makes the knight Great video can't wait for day two :)
Man i'd love to see a vid how you through the core units like men at arms, seeing how you need paint so many of them haha, but every day a new grail knight paint video, is amazing!
I'll be painting Men at Arms on my stream this week, need a unit of ten for my list this weekend but will try do a video on batch painting them if that would help people?
Gorgeous, the only feedback i would have, is that I think it would look better to have darkened the blue under the yellow transfer a little more. It is only something I notice now and wouldn't have thought of myself either before. I think it would make the yellow contrast a bit more.
Looks great but I must say You did paint over Your base blue/red tones with those layering step totally covering them. I would go with more glazing with 2TC. On a limited area too. For a better effect. I mean You just could cut some steps or make more glazes but the overall effect is great!
If the champion uses gold on red for their shield, then they could be the banner bearer's cousin or something. Make a feature of them having the same symbol

Honestly it’s an eye thing. If you hold the pots together you should see that they look the same even though there different colours. I know that sounds strange but give it a try.
I've sadly had to put my plan for a new Bretonnian army on hold, but my plan in the end is to use the colours of local GAA teams so that I don't have to choose the colour schemes myself.
@@MediocreHobbies Super news! I have 5 of these old models and are one of my favourite designs! Again just undercoated... looking forward to seeing your painting videos on these "ol chaps" :)
Do you think witching hour blue and leviathan blue might have been a better choice for a more royal blue colour? Love the colour scheme but the grey blue turns me away from it. I'll follow your guide for mine but try with the witching hour and leviathan blue for a more royal coloir blue
always take what you like and adapt other parts of tutorials to suit yourself best! These tutorials can just be seen as way of teaching the steps, just sub in any colours you like!
I'm still in the construction phase of my boxed army for Brettonnia so I've been filling up downtime binging painting videos. As a low experience miniatures painter I am confused why you layer darker colored reds and blues over your contrast reds and blues. Does that not undo the shading and highlighting effect given by the contrast paints?
Oh ok. I have a bunch of peasant bowmen and men at arms to practice your method on. Once I get those done I hope I'll be confident enough to tackle my 12 knights of the realm and 3 Pegasus knights. Then the Duke 0_0 wow I got a lot ahead of me
Looks nice but it would've looked nicer with the more deeper blue. I don't understand the point of that first deep blue layer when you went over it. That is technically a mistake.
Cracks me up when you say you're a very average painter. I'm new to painting so obviously my standards are lower but even comparing yourself to many of the warhammer painting channels, there's really not very many that are that much better and plenty of people who are worse. Now I do wonder whether having good lighting and cameras makes a difference but even so, give yourself more credit
I started the channel because I was hearing so many people get put off by the competition level painters on youtube and social media, I never want people feeling like they need to be at that standard! I paint clean and tidy, and that's just from practice! Appreciate though man. Hope you're enjoying the hobby so far and always ask for help when you have questions!
You say Arsenal I say West Ham... 😅 I hate that I made a football reference and that I know the colours of certain kits... Love the end result, I certainly plan to add Grail Knights to my army once I get what I have painted. I had a unit in my old army, and I did them all with black barding as they were in mourning for their king/Lord. They still had individual heraldry but were yet to accept their Lords idiot son as their new ruler. Well, that was my lore for it anyway.
My personal opinion on the business side of things.... strike it while its hot. To me, paint tutorials become less and less relevant as time goes on while people are sitting down to paint their minis, today. To me a tutorial is not as good, not saying its no good at all, but its not as good 4-6 months after something's been released vs. only after a few weeks/month or 2. I believe you'd be garnering more views as its relevant than later on in the year. So yeah, keep doing what your doing my friend.
