My concern is since Funko Pops are not a sealed product, someone could still take an authentic Funko out of the box and sell a fake with the original box/code.

I bought a fake Funko Pop semi on purpose once. The real one would've been too expensive. As a nice surprise, the fake one came with a lovely bracelet themed off of the Pop I bought.

I really like this going forward. It sucks that it won't be able to verify older grails or chases, but I understand the logistics nightmare that would be. As someone who has purchased suspicious looking funkos from ebay before and has had to fight over returning items that were clearly suspicious upon receiving them, It is a relief that I can have more confidence in buying off the secondhand market. Thank god for paypal or I would have never seen full refunds over faked purchased grails. (yes I sent them back and suspiciously they never relisted said items).

I’m very late to the one piece world and I wanted to add a brook to my collection and it took probably 6 months of looking on eBay and Mercari before I finally found a real one that was within my budget lol ,I have every single detail of the real and fake version ingrained in my memory lol

I don't see a point in this. Con pops are showing up at Marshall's. People aren't making fakes of pop created in the last 3 years. The barcode doesn't help the old grails

i wonder how this will affect special edition stickers for overseas releases. will the overseas and american finally be the same price. i never cared for stickers i have multiple se stickers so i wonder how this will go over for that lol

I paid a fake funko pop un purpose, some Funkos are ridiculously expensive, not paying more than $30 for a piece of vinyl mass produced and mold injected.

@@Miguel-ws9zm the glow chase sticker wasn’t right it was a weird snap instead of normal and only the eyes glowed when the lightning on his had was meant to glow

@@ethanchapman8761 gotcha! Ok sounds like it was easier to tell because it was the chase version. A lot of the ones I bought were like non-chases or older pops but maybe will look at them more closely in the future. Sorry you had that issue with your Sasuke chase!

I feel like it is late, but I'm glad they finally did it. And we won't know how well it will work until we get new grails. But it seems like it was well planned out and I don't mind the look. Would be nice to have the qr code on the side window tho
