  • Bathroom design decisions are passed to the customer on this for the final location on the basin due to a few little bits that don’t 100% work right in my opinion….
    Plumbing at times can be a bit of a pain when things like this happen when fitting bathrooms or en-suites

    In 35 years of plumbing I can say I’ve only ever had to fit one IKEA basin and that was one too many. I’ve just had to fit a customer supplied bathroom and they got the shower screen/door too large for the opening despite being told the dimensions to order. Fortunately Plumbase came to the rescue and they will have a new bathroom for Christmas. 😂😂😂 I feel your pain Mark.

      “Despite being told the dimensions to order” I just love that, my mate does this all the time with me, I tell him what to buy and he comes back with something else. The story is usually “but it was cheaper and the store said it would be ok” 😂😂😂

      @@jimh4072 I know how you feel. I did a “favour” for my best mate. He wanted a new toilet put in a really small cramped bathroom. I gave him the details and sent him off shopping an hour later he returned “ with a real bargain “. Apparently it was “ really cheap “. I told him it was no good as it was too big. He told me it would be ok. So to teach him I took out the old toilet and made him put the new one in place. Surprise surprise you now couldn’t open the shower door more than 2ft and he’s not the thinnest bloke and couldn’t get in the shower. 🤣🤣🤣 ( he did return it and get the size I’d asked for )

    Hi mark, ikea products oh no, I can’t remember ever seeing flexi pipes with only a 4mm bore 🤔, those products make the job hard work.
    It all appears to be coming along nicely now, should be a nice job installing the cylinder with plenty space to work in.
    Hope it all went well for you, take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍

  • @kiryafeya1
    @kiryafeya1 5 месяцев назад

    The Ikea traps are bit nifty. One advice regarding them. The overflow goes to the left or right side pipe. You need to drill 10-12mm hole there first. The top pipe on the trap is reserve for a washing machine connection. And we normally continue the pipe work with 32mm white pipe and fits. But you managed to make it look good, good work!

    I fitted my Ikea kitchen about 3yrs ago, kitchen itself was fine until I came to the waste, utter pants! At least that waste you used has a trap, the kitchen ones don't seem to come with them, which is madness as its used more than a bathroom sink! Didn't use ikea tap though as they look nasty, went with a Quooker hot tap.
    This one fit global fits all sucks nuts at times. Make them to suit each country.

      The best place for that Ikea waste is to fit it in the rubbish bin without even bothering to open the bag it comes in and then replace with proper waste fittings. Mcalpine do an equivalent fitting for everything in the ikea kit, though it may be a little bit bulkier.
