Minecraft :Frogs don't eat fire flies for it to be more realistic Also minecraft: they eat mythical lava creatures from another dimension and poop out light
Probably it's just because they feared that some kids would assume that irl forgs would eat fireflies and would feed them, so opted for the same irrational logic they use for their add-ons. I mean, I think this is actually good.
@@nikfiendluvr666 You never know. People now sometimes have spiders, snakes, and other weird stuff. @@vw_hater This is another thing, and I 100% agree with you. Personally I also find frustrating that they seem to implement good ideas that seem unrelated one with another. For example: with the new cave update and the scope you can craft with the crystals, they could have implemented something like "the scope has continuously active night vision", so that it's an interesting low-budget tool that helps you explorating big dark spaces but can't substitute effectively a serious potion. Or, for example, some form of grappling hook for vertical exploration, also pushing players to taste the verticality of caves and mountains without having to beat the fucking end. Having played minecraft for awhile with most of the older mobs that are already in game, I do appreciate that these little guys don't just walk around by wiggling their feet back and forth like a lot of mobs do. It's a nice touch that I hope becomes more common as new mobs are added.
The colors are green for cold, orange for temperate, and white for tropical frogs, respectively, because, in real life, reptiles rely on the color of their skin to absorb heat. As you may know, darker colors absorb heat better whilst lighter colors reflect heat better. This is why frogs that lives in the tropics are white (too much heat can easily cause a fragile frog to die so being white allows them to reflect said heat), and the frogs that live in colder biomes are darker (frogs need heat because they are cold blooded animals, so having that darker skin allows them to absorb heat more effectively). That is pretty much the gist of it and the idea behind why they chose the, seemingly, weird colors for the frogs. I hope you enjoyed my ted talk
Thank the gods Mojang removed the firefly thing - i was just about to feed my frogs some fireflies, but thankfully i found out it's poisonous to them :3 now i will feed my buddies some delicious magma i found

We should be able to breed frogs with magma cream. If they can eat slimes and be bred with slime balls, then they should breed with magma cream if they can eat magma cubes.
Important Note if you're checking the biomes with the biome list. Some are exclusive to Bedrock or Java Edition. So I, as Java Player, tried desperately to get green frogs in the deep cold ocean, even though this biome is considered cold for BE and temperate for java.
I wouldn't call them OP by any means. Even if they still ate fireflies I think they're pretty useless, except maybe to get a couple more slimeballs in swamps like you mentioned.
9:39 I actually agree with this change, considering that they did it for parrots. Replacing a real thing that cna actually kill them irl with a fictional thing that doesn't exist, even if it should logically be more dangerous, makes perfect sense to me and in fact says more about the lore of the magma cube mobs than it does about mojang or fireflies or frogs.
Mojang explaining why frogs' diets consist entirely of strange beasts that are made from animate molten rock and are found in a hellish alternate dimension of fire and brimstone.
I did this on JAVA 1.20.1 (do not have bedrock and did not try) Figured out timing for getting white frogs in my Bastion very easy. 1. make a 1x1 hole in the overworld and put your tadpole in it (i used mangrove biome). 2. use 55 slimeballs on it, then pick it back up. 3. make a 1x1 hole just outside your farm in the nether. 4. put tadpole in that hole. 5. spam another stack of slimeballs on it and it should turn within 10 20 slimeballs (which is quick enough to not let the tadpole die).
You (to my knowledge) only have 3 ways of actually moving adult frogs: 1) Use minecarts 2) Use boats 3) Use leads (which seems to be the most "intended" way since there's an advancement for having all 3 frog variants on a lead at once)
