It's amazing how empty the world can seem when you go back to an earlier version
the simplicity can be an appeal sometimes, i love the new features but the familiarity of old versions i played as a kid is nice
I feel the same thing when going back vanilla Minecraft after playing modded Minecraft
one day in the future when minecraft is inside an actual planet with continents and you can space travel we'll look back and think the same
Truly insane ngl
I remmeber the days when minecraft was only available from dodgy websites and 2nd hand Downloads, like 4 blocks 2 trees and if you git lucky you knew what you were doing, it was amazing but I couldnt play without the new stuff like when melons only spawned in mineshafts or the ocean being a big gravel pit that would happily drop on you everytime you tried to make a cool underwater base using sugar cane and doors
Edit - or the water that uses to just flood your entire forrest because you made a water source too close to another and lava flowing faster and further than water
Man I remember going crazy in 1.3 over the addition of temples. Horses felt futuristic when they released. I love the continued lifespan of this game and I’m excited to see what’s added as it continues to age!
I remember how weird it felt when sheeps first dropped mutton
It still sometimes feels weird
@@TrueHey OMG I felt the same! Rabbits still feel like a "new" mob to me just because they were added after when I first started playing, even though it's been way longer than since when they were added!
@@annaangelic2318 YO SAME! I also feel like haybales are new as well bc I remember playing console edition and going into the tutorial world and then they were just there one day which caught me off guard since I never really used the internet much then to look for leaks and update logs
And the weirdest part is that things like the new villages, new textures, the nether revamp, and illagers feel normal to me yet something like savanna biome feel weird to me because of how much I didn't expect them as a kid
@@TrueHey I mean you see them around a lot, so you get used. But savanna? For me i don't see it much, but it depends on you.
I haven't played minecraft In over 10 years and your videos have been essential in guiding me along my journey in playing and rediscovering everything new to the game Thank you!
Same lol
Me too it's been since 1.10ish I played a few days around 1.13
Same here!! There's so much to catch up I was lost without this video.
Me too, I came back and found a deep dark cave and was very very confused lol…last thing I remember being added were horses
man i came back from 1.16 and theres still so much to learn, shows us how fast minecraft changes
This is why Update Aquatic is my favorite update to this day. It created a formula for updates and set the bar for fans expectations. It doesn't necessarily have the best features, but it's my favorite because of the algorithm it created.
For me, 1.13 still has the best features and creative ideas and concepts and even one of the most unique update of all time.
@@legzzzzz1.13 and 1.16 are both like that. they’re super unique and had amazing rollouts that changed the expectations for Minecraft updates
"it doesnt have the best features"
take a look at pre 1.7 updates then lmao
@@ideac. everyone has their own opinions.
@@r3d_c0lor3dp3nc1l dude even deleted their comment
After not playing or seeing any Minecraft update for over 5 years, I was absolutely astonished when I blindly came across one of those humongous caves for the first time!
It was like I stumbled upon the most beautiful Dark Souls level ever for the first time. I guess kind of how you felt when you went to ash lake for the first time😅
I've gone through multiple periods of time where I don't play and don't pay attention to updates and I've always been amazed. The first time I came back after a few years, it was right when they added the phantom and it was still black, and when three came out of nowhere I was scared shitless for a second lmao
I haven't seen this video, but I know I'm going to learn something new after I see it. I just got back to Minecraft after 3 years, and all I've need to understand everything that's new is your channel. You have videos about literally EVERYTHING Minecraft related. Keep up the good work mate!
I'm in the same boat, only I hadn't played regularly since the newest thing was horses... Good lord is this ever a big game now. 😂
@@ForestFire369 same here! Horses was about the last major update I was caught up to and have been lost in the updates ever since. Videos like these are great for getting back into it after all these years
Same here lol
ong he's so informative and straight to the point
This is the first time that I get why 1.15 was called The Buzzy Bee Update. Not only because of the bees themselves but because of the many bugs they fixed, so Mojang themselves were buzzy bees, too.
I think they added bees in 1.15 becouse bees are bugs
Idgaf bees are useless and to name an update after it is just pathetic
@@y_e_s_L Does "The Performance Update" sound better than "The Buzzy Bee Update"?
@@user83nf3 how about just “update”
I showed up to Minecraft during the pandemic in April, 2020. My very first world I loaded up I spawned in a ruined village next to a ravine. I dug down along side of the ravine and I ran into a room with bookshelves! I had no idea what that was. Obviously, I know more about the game now, but I’ve never fought the dragon. It’s fine. I’ll get around to it. I just like digging.
You found a stronghold just like that ? GG :D
Just casually finally a stronghold on the first 5 minutes of playing
I've been playing Minecraft since like 2013 I think, and I never beat the game legitimately. You've got time ig.
@@PouLS I was close to same I think. Or, ik what that's like. 😂 I thought I was the only one. Played Minecraft around the same time you did, and didn't beat the dragon until, April 2021
PLEASE, GIVE US THE SEED
There was about a year or two spell where the Minecraft updates were pretty mundane (concrete update, anyone). People really started to wonder if Minecraft was going to fall off and not reach its potential. Safe to say Mojang bounced back and didn’t let that happen. There’s honestly so many things to see and do in the game and the fact that it’s going to keep getting better is so exciting.
It’s cool like he talks about the villages but the village he chooses has a farm floating on top of a ravine 😂
And also there’s a house floating
I found exploring to be much less fun after caves and cliffs. The biomes are too too large and trying to find a specific biome was so hard because you have to traverse 2,000 blocks of forest and flatlands
I must admit it is extremely beautiful but also very painful to explore :(
makes horses and boats more useful
@@RafaelMunizYT Horses that may or may not be 1000s of blocks away
honestly i like that, it makes the world finally to the scale of the elytra and traversing it is a beautiful experience. i like being confined to and settling one area for a while before i set off for the dragon, and once i can fly i just go crazy exploring.
caves and cliffs did make the game much more overwhelming for me, but over time i got used to the new terrain and features and i really like the update overall now. i am glad it has had some time to marinate tho bc the rollout was the worst in MC history in my opinion
I remember playing on multiplayer survival servers and having to walk 20,000-100,000 blocks to find untouched areas where you could be left alone. You can run over 500 blocks per minute... 2,000 blocks is nothing!
1.13 also added conduit. This thing is pretty cool but very overlooked...
This video really forget almost anything in every update... :
Pretty much an underwater beacon
Your channel is incredible, you clearly do your research and always have something I've never known
It’d wild to me how it took so long to add most of the features in 1.13, like how did it take so long for fish and sea grass to be added, you couldn’t even really use half slabs underwater until this update
Not many tropical oceans in Sweden. Probably just skipped their mind.
@@pyroparagon8945 at you trying to tell me that Sweden doesn’t have fish
@@mistermangoman69 fish have been in mc for a long, long time. Atleast since I started in 1.4
I feel like the recovery compass needs a tweak.
One idea is to have it stay in inventory upon death so you can bring it with you.
Another thought is put them in ship wrecks as a rare item. If it can be coded, maybe it could first point to the buried treasure the map would point to, and then wherever you set spawn it aligns to you.
I'm so glad I'm one of the people who started playing Minecraft when it was released
should've talked about scaffoldings!! a game changer for survival building
And the phantom :)
@@Nokyyyyy phantoms are a pain in the ass. you go mining for hours and lose track of time and when you're back to the surface with your inventory full to the brim 50 phantoms start circling and attacking you
@@RafaelMunizYT True, but Hey. Atleast they look pretty cool
1.13 also added buttons pressure plates, and trapdoors in different wood types
Yeah
And stripped logs
(And did he talk about the phantom ?)
Wasn't that in 1.8?
@@onikavelka nah that was doors and fences
also buttons and levers could be placed on floors and ceilings in 1.8
i love the carts so much, i hope 1.21 it will be carts and tracks. Have track switching, make carts links and have a cart engine. Have steam, redstone or coal.
being able to make a whole Train system would be insane
I think the start of minecraft 1.14 was the start of a new minecraft Era. Think about it, we got a new fully animated trailer for the village and pillage update which hasn't been done before with past updates. All of those were just gameplay footage. Second, we got a revamp in the textures while 1.13 still had the old school retro designs. Lastly, the aquatic update felt like a send-off to the old console editions. If you played the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of minecraft, the latest version you can update the games to is 1.13.
1.13 really is the start in my opinion. Starting from that, Mojang really gave massive updates. 1.13 can be seen as a prelude for more massive updates onwards.
1.13 is the start.
it added new animations, something not done before for years, and it was the first MASSIVE update to the game.
and all of the boomers say that 1.13 killed the game
@@KwikBR Nah, the boomers say it's 1.9 that killed Minecraft.
@@KwikBR as n6rt pointed out, boomers think 1.9 killed Minecraft.
It mostly has to do with the fact that era was when Microsoft bought Minecraft and Notch left.
Every one thought it would change for the worse.
I think the general problem is that from 1.9 to 1.12, they forgot to highlight "Fixed many, many bugs and glitches".
1000%, after 1.13 it felt like mojang were really consolidating a creative direction for the game, instead of just cobbling together features. that seems to have backfired on them though bc lately they can't meet player expectations for updates
It took me 4 days to get my Elytra, I love just flying around, im so glad I started watching Minecraft RUclips videos!
I would love some updates related to the witches. Wiki says they attack the player but act neutral towards both villagers illagers, so it makes me wonder more about them.
They are very interesting mobs..
They will drink water breaking potions when under water, fire resistance potions when on fire, healing potions when they've taken damage and also they can splash healing potions to any hurt illagers in the area...
They can even drop the potions if killed with fortune under the right circumstances like setting em on fire before killing them. Would increase chance to drop a fire resistance potions..
Very interesting mobs.
Got Minecraft in 2013 when I was 14 or 15. Been playing it for the last decade and all I can say is this game has gotten me through so much life shx. I've created endless worlds and consider the game my happy place. It's crazy to see how much the game has changed since then. Best $7.99 ever spent.
The cracked iron golems! I didn’t know you could heal them 😂 I have one that got trapped in a boat and got shot by a bunch of skeletons and by the time i noticed and saved him he already took a bunch of damage 😢 I’m gonna fix him up later
Did you save big guy?
@@liviwaslost Yep! Good as new
You seriously make the best videos. I felt like I am such a newbie at Minecraft - I started really playing in 1.15 and remember the nether update well. I didnt realize that the major updates only started with 1.13. Also - just love your ending and the play on words - and your subtle but hilarious sense of humor. “Eye, will see you in the next one” 💚💚💚
Minecraft youtubers not talking like "burger king foot lettuce" guy (1000% impossible challenge)
the best thing added in 1.13 was swimming animation. you can't change my mind
thank you so much for making these videos. I've been playing since just before the start of 1.18 and it was amazing to see how the game was prior to that!
I’m really thankful for the wonderful videos you make. I don’t follow Minecraft updates when it’s not in my normal rotation of games, but will always end up coming back. Really nice to have such excellent videos to watch/listen to instead of sitting and reading patch notes
Thank you for the amazing video! I’ve played Minecraft on and off for a decade now and it had been well over a year since I last played. I encountered a lot of unknowns but this video really helped me catch up and enjoy the game once again!
1.13 and 1.14 are easily my favourite updates. They fleshed out underdeveloped aspects of the world without disrupting anything else
Thanks for making this video. As someone who gets overwhelmed by patch notes it was nice to be up to date again.
I only recently started playing Minecraft again after years and all the new features are a little confusing. Your videos are really helpful in getting fully up to date with the game :D
I'd love to know about all the mobs that didn't make it into Minecraft, lost mob votes, etc.
Hearing you say "Buzzy Bees" as matter-of-factly as everything else you say was surreal
buzz
I recently came back to Minecraft after years of not playing it. Thanks for this refresher!
I feel like during near the end of 2017 Minecraft was beginning to die very slowly, but in 2018 update aquatic prevented that from happening and Minecraft went back to being a trending game.
Thank you mate. Been so long since I played Minecraft survival, perfect video for catch-up.
so glad I found your channel, I always search for one of your videos first if I'm looking to learn something.
Ah old villages i miss them even tho they were useless
I haven't played minecraft in years, recently trying to get back to playing it. This video really helped to catch me up on the updates.
I’d love to see one of these videos for all Minecraft major updates. I know it’d be a big task, but I think it’d be a banger of a video.
It's funny every new video helps me realize how much I've already learned from you. I would love a video on new generation because I've heard you mention it but I don't understand it very well
This is great, thanks! But u forgot the zoglin for 1.16
Amazing video as always your one of the best Minecraft RUclipsrs
In my opinion, 1.14, 1.16, 1.19 are like something that came out of a mod
1.13 too tho
1.7 with the piston :O
@maaatl444you just described ancient cities
This is amazing. I haven't played in years and was completely lost when I started back again
Going back to minecraft after 6 or so years myself, always enjoyed it and it's crazy to see how far it's come! Anyone else remember dying that first time? What despair
As someone who hasn't played Minecraft much in the last several years, this was a great video. Thank you for making it!
god i remember opening up Minecraft with my cousins and seeing the aquatic update. so much nostalgia. I started this game in the bountiful update (2014) and wow this game is so good. I remember my cousins locking me in tnt chambers and i got mad even though it was creative, man the nostalgia is crazy.
Thinking of getting back after playing it on 1.12. Thanks for the rundown
i remember being 13 and saying “HORSES?!? this is clearly the best thing ill ever get here”
Thank you. Haven't played since they added the witch, now my duaghter and I are playing together and I've been feeling overwhelmed
Thank you for this rundown! I quit after 1.9 and I’m finally getting back into it and Minecraft seemed somewhat foreign
The aquatic update still to this day is what I think the best modern minecraft update to be released.
Hell yeah.
It's certainly one of the big 4 and definitely my favourite
Can’t wait to see you do a video on armor trims
Really helpful i haven't play MC since 1.13 and i was looking for a what ive missed and this is the ticket
Now this is the vid I needed. Holy hell they added so much to Minecraft I feel old
Wow I’m so excited for the new update but I’m mostly excited for the bamboo blocks!😊😊
When i started playing MC i was 16 and there were like four types of blocks: sand, stone, cobble, gravel, and standard trees :D
I build bases from glass, cobble, some wood [i don't remember if wood stairs existed]
Now I'm 30, and I'm positively overwheelmed by this game. It was the best gift i got from friend from abroad :D
Thank you for making this video I couldn’t find one like this lol
Currently playing the 1.16.5 and still overwhelmed about how new everything is for me. I've played Minecraft primarly when it was still in the 1.6 to 1.8 😪
the buzzy bee update was pretty revolutionary for redstone
Goated video I asked myself someone should explain the past updates for returning players
I just started playing again after 3 years and it amazes me and overwhelms me everything new that got added since last time i played
**mojang wants to make iron golem farms feel less necessary**
**same update where they made most mining really irritating and finding even coal annoying**
I remember when 1.13 blew me away
11:53 Hmmm, the bones shapes remind me of something... 😉
I haven’t played Minecraft in years and I feel like my brain is going to explode with the amount of stuff they’ve added. This video is going to be a life saver for sure 😅
I haven’t played minecraft in like 5 years… trying to go back to play made me feel so confuse and sad because I don’t know what is what anymore. So I really appreciate your video. Excited to be falling in love with minecraft again!
I've been playing for a decade and I think that the Village and Pillage update and the Nether update are some of the best. also love your content
Thx mate you Made it a Lot easier to find out whats new
Thx from a german guy
❤👌👊
I wanted to build Erebor, so the caves and cliffs were JUST what I needed.
I remember when Redstone came out.
I restarted a 1.20.4 save last week and I am overhwelmed but I have fun exploring.
Really useful, thanks
I became a big fan of eyecraft mc love your content man hattsoff to you 😁
Wait honey cures poison!?
Yes, and only poison
haven’t kept up with any updates since 1.12 lol thank u
Last time I played was 1.17 so this video helps a lot thank you!
Eeeyyyy I posted this idea in the suggestions discord a few months ago! I dunno if it's related to that or if he already planned on making it but I'm just stoked to see this video
7:42 pink sheeeeeeeeep
I remember playing the first Minecraft edition when you can’t put blocks above the clouds… very nostalgic it is
I use bamboo as a form of walls. They’re hard to get around and are good for trapping mobs.
thanka for this! havent played mc in a few years and am getting back on😸
It's incredible how are so may things added in all the actualizations.
God I remember being so excited for the Update Aquatic, and being so amazed by everything added. Everything after that still feels new to me
Man I really enjoy your video big thanks
Just downloaded Minecraft after I stopped like five years ago, so this video is really good for me to know whats new :D
Oooh now things make sense to me. I used to play 1.17 on console (without knowing the version, but now I know), and started playing on my PC on 1.16 (it's an old pc so it doesn't run the recent versions properly) and was very confused about why I didn't find some stuff like copper or dripstone (rip lava farm)
I always come back and so many updates in and there is so much to catch back on
Cool I thought frog lights were a mod item this entire time, how did I miss that in info videos 😅
damn i would've needed this video when i got back to minecraft in 2020. i think the horses had just been added the last time i played minecraft before that
its so weird to realize i played through every version of Minecraft I remember being so exited for all these updates its so strange to realized that i grew up watching Minecraft grow
As someone who played this game way back in its alpha state, this kinda warms my heart ngl. Might play it again.
omg the gravel texture before 1.14... brings me back to the old days 0:42
i don't remember what year i started playing Minecraft cause I was young but the first large update i remember was when they added jungles
Holy shit I was just wondering the other day if a video existed that explains all of the Minecraft updates over the last few years, and holy shit… here it is. Thank you for this.
I consider 1.9 the first modern update bacause it changed sooo much
This dude making the best videos 😂 just about to watch it, it’s probably gonna be great but damn this is exactly the title I wanted XD
I rememeber when i stopped playing minecraft in 1.13. Now when im coming back, ots nove to have a vodeo summing up everything I've missed
