  • In this video I went forward with construction on my own custom blaster, the DL-180. I used the base of a metal air soft Luger and made it able to be fully disassembled and re assembled, as well as a fully firing air soft pistol! I hope you enjoy the video!

I’d love to see what you make if you choose to do a project like this. Thank you so much for watching, May the 4th be with you and happy Revenge of the 5th!

    Great video as someone who is a fan of Star Wars and also an actual gun owner I will say I like your enthusiasm. That being said I have a few basic tips for you. First always assume the weapon is loaded. Second never point a fire arm be it real or otherwise at anyone unless you intend on using it. Third keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire. Fourth never look down the barrel of your weapon. Not only are these good general habit to get into but it will lends a level of authenticity to your character. Keep up the good work kid.

    • @willhamilton297
      @willhamilton297  3 года назад +5

      TRUE, I completely forgot about that ooooh my grandpa would be so disappointed lol! He taught me more than a few gun safety rules as a kid and taught me how to fire a few of them safely and properly, and it is probably best to keep up with those rules and procedures here as well, good point. I guess the level of removal from a real fire arm is amplified once you do all these modifications to it. Thank you for the advice!

      I know, right? It's a beautiful piece of work. The maker has done a ton of other great machine milled parts, if you liked that, could be cool to browse his stuff he has for sale, the link is in the video description. He's even done a few Boba Fett parts I think? Can't quite remember. Thanks for watching!

      Dude, same here. I've herd that from a few people, and it hurts the more you think about it, like, you could have a wall of bounties, you could have these buckets of scopes and barrels and bodies, you could choose to make a rifle or a pistol, you could get a sling for a rifle or a holster for a pistol, It could be this florescent lit room like the corrusant underbelly, but obviously, no guns in Disneyland. it hurts to think about the potential :(

    Oh man I had a dremel from 2005 that died last year. I was so sad, it had been used on SO MANY project both hobby and home repairs. I laid it to rest in my ammo can trash bin and my mother in law bought me a new one when she heard. She bought me the original so it was very fitting and kind of her. The new one is great and I'm almost glad it happened lol

    • @willhamilton297
      @willhamilton297  4 года назад

      Yeah, it’s always hard seeing a tool go. The dremel that died was kept in an old bagpipe cleaning kit box and had been there my whole life, so it was pretty rough seeing it go, but I kept the box and got an upgrade, so over all a win win, but still sad. Glad you got an improvement as well!

      I remember never getting a good look at the P08 Luger until I saw Rogue One and I was so so intrigued by the look of it, it’s a really perfect look for a Star Wars blaster made from a WW2 weapon. Would love to see more of what people could do to convert that base pistol into their own unique side arms for Star Wars. If you end up doing it, consider filming it, I’d love to take a look at what you come up with!

      Yeah, that'd be awesome! Leia's blaster in A New Hope was made out of a 1911, right? What kind of look would you go for, something with a scope or a long barrel or something different?

    • @GAVIN1412
      @GAVIN1412 3 года назад +1

      @@willhamilton297 I think Leia's was some Soviet gun or something lol, I dont think star wars has used the 1911 yet, but I could be wrong. I was thinking something more like jyn ersos, with a wide cylindrical barrel, but with some nobs like yours! I want to do it out of metal so I'm not sure how I'm going to go about this, but I'll try to keep you posted. I have a plastic one made up of an airsoft gun. But like you said, I want the weight and feel of a metal one.

      If you don’t have a Replica Prop Forum account, you could totally look into getting one, it’s basically just like refit but about props and you can ask questions and start threads on your things if you want, it’s a great way to gather inspiration and information on builds. If you keep on going forward with the build, you can find me there, my account name is willrhami and my profile pic should be mostly a green light coming from my saber lol. • @willhamilton297
      @willhamilton297  10 месяцев назад

      Eh, it’s tricky, I think it’s more that it ticked some of the major boxes for me that I want from a lightsaber, not to say that it’s the best one. I do think that the system is SUPER easy for people not into electronics though which is nice, like, there are just some people who want a couple lightsabers that feel cool and fun that they don’t want to worry about, and it fits that need, and good for them. I like the weight and the flashes and the feeling I get when I hold it, but yeah, it isn’t the best. I have been working out how to make my own lightsaber from the ground up with aluminum machining and that project will take years. I basically wanna make the same lightsaber design but in full aluminum with neopixel and CFX, make a removable fully detailed chassis, etc. But that will be a LONG LONG process. I wanna make it look and feel like that scene in clone wars with the younglings making their sabers, a bunch of tiny screws and parts that all come together, no glue, no plastic, all disassembleable down to the individual parts. That vision is gonna take years though. And it took the Galaxy’s edge saber dying for me to realize I wanted that instead lmaoooo
