Here is the explanation for dark matter/galaxy rotation curves - Wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass the known, fundamental phenomenon of dilation (sometimes called gamma or y) will occur. Mass that is dilated is smeared through spacetime relative to an outside observer. It's the phenomenon behind the phrase "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light". Time dilation is just one aspect of dilation, it's not just time that gets dilated. A 2 axis graph illustrates the squared nature of the phenomenon, dilation increases at an exponential rate the closer you get to the speed of light.
Dilation will occur wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass because high mass means high momentum. This includes the centers of very high mass stars and the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers.
It can be inferred mathematically that the mass at the center of our own galaxy must be dilated. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. More precisely, everywhere you point is equally valid. In other words that mass is all around us.
Dilation does not occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has recently been confirmed in 6 very low mass galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have no dark matter. In other words they have normal rotation rates. This also explains why all binary stars are normal rotation rates, not 3 times normal.

Dark matter, baryonic matter and now self-interacting dark matter (SIDM)...
...and then dark energy = opposing gravity...
All of these relatively new terms try to explain certain processes and properties of the cosmos, practically an introduction to an "invisible world", similar to what happens in quantum physics (neutrinos, quarks, electrons, gluons, etc.).
I think something must have existed before the universe came into being, something that we can call "ever-existing and infinite neutral space". A really interesting essential area, but one in which we are still very much at the beginning...

Since the so called dark matter makes up most of the universe, maybe that is the real matter of the universe and we are the odd ones out. There may be many highly advanced civilisations living in the dark matter universe.

The recent news that the video is about is "An N-body/hydrodynamical simulation study of the merging cluster El Gordo: A compelling case for self-interacting dark matter?" by R. Valdarnini.

I don't know if this is an apt comparison, but it seems to me as a layman that the relationship between the CDM and SIDM models is analogous to the relationship between Newtonian physics and quantum physics. If there is, then I wonder if some of the information gleaned from the study of SIDM would be applicable to better understanding the world of quantum physics as it relates to Newtonian physics and/or vice-versa

What is the mechanism of the interaction? It can't be any EM it wouldn't be dark. If it were the strong force it would interact with regular matter. So are you proposing that dark matter has a dark force too? I'm still not clear how gravity works in the first place so I'm looking towards a grand unification theory to explain it. How does quark/gluon confinement warp spacetime? I think that holds the answer to both dark matter and energy.

Ah, the dreaded “dark sector force/s”! Maybe there is a better explanation for dark matter and how it interacts with itself but not regular matter ‽ This does complicates things a lot with the standard model.

Yes, self-interacting is the key; but one does not need to detect it to know it. You have detected the quarks, the electrons, the higgs, etc, but you still do not know what they are. It is all about dynamics --there is nothing else. Freebie: dark matter are gravitons. Ask ladybug and Rosalind Franklin for more!

Time doesn't exist. The universe doesn't see a future nor does it record itself.
I don't mean in terms of "i have to be at work around 5. Or how long things take to get from point a to point b.
If it does exist, theirs more to it then what we understand. The man made concept of time that most are aware of has some law to it. But these are man made laws and concepts.
The universe doesn't have laws by which it abides by, like say entropy. Theirs nothing to point at and say "there! There is time, i will go and study it!" Or one cannot place time in a jar by waving the jar around and filling it with time.
This is my opinion. I think when we say time, it think about time. That darkness we think about is something else. It could very well be stunned to the law or laws of time but it's something else entirely. I think the sooner we understand time doesn't exist for the universe and the laws that govern it the sooner we may advance.
If time were to be taken out of an equation or formula (any of them) do they still work? Or do i not know wtf I'm talking about? 😮 I'm amateur at my very best. Even below average. But what i lack in the math, i make up for in imagination!
