This was an amazing discussion. I think what I drew from it is that I will continue on my healthful journey to live well in my latter years - but not at the expense of living. I want to be free of disease, and I want to be mobile and independent. Also, what we put into our mouths and what we do each day with our bodies are the best ways to impact those outcomes. Ty Simon!
Wonderful content. Im a geriatric behavioral health case manager in rural Appalachia. My clients are in such terrible health that we actually include 50 year olds for our specialized services. A driving lifestyle factor i would identify is that in the absense of educational there is advertisement. If a person can access and comprehend lifestyle education there is latitude for health improvement. If that skill set is not there, no 15 feedback at primary care will overcome the force of marketing from fastfood, alcohol and tobaco targeted squarely at people in poverty.
One problem with changing habits is that while it’s very powerful in the short run, the old habits sneak back for most people (not all) because the causes of the bad habits are still there.
There are too few subscribers to this channel, despite that it is one if not the strongest channel on the topic of longevity and healthspan, is that Simon provides responsible, vanguard, well-researched information, calmly. I am the perfect target audience and watch all videos. But (unfortunately) the average viewer needs some element of entertainment, sensationalism, and the like. The same information provided with some element of entertainment might result in 10x the viewers within a year.
Can you just stop with the silly clickbaits like "Do this to live longer" etc., unless you wanna be in the same category as all those health RUclipsrs and chiropractors and Mark Hymen just baiting longevity secrets in thumbnails selling supplements.
"How Life Choices Affect Your Aging" doesn't sound very clickbait to me - just saying? It's not the "Lose Weight and Gain Muscle With This Simple 5 Minute Exercise Hack!" (as if!) - or "Nature's Ozempic: Lose Ten Pounds This Week!" - sort of title I usually avoid, at any rate. Or yes, Mark Hyman, "Stay Young Forever!"
Just blows me away how few subscribers are on this outstanding channel.

@@andreahorsch286That's a terribly sad situation.

🤗Just finished reading his book🤗
Good discussion, and I agree with the comment that there are too few subscribers to this channel.
I appreciate that!
So impressed I bought his book, Why We Die!

Was the information helpful?
I wrestle with that especially the shorts where titles and content lack his usual nuance info but Simon is still one of the very best on yt.
